New Upstairs Refurbishment – Frome Nursing Home

Last Updated: 11 Dec 2025 @ 00:00 AM

Frome Nursing Home recently completed their first phase of refurbishment works in one of its households, Somerset House. The home is designed as a collection of smaller households so people can live alongside others with similar levels of support. This means that if someone’s needs change over time, they can move to a household that suits them better, while still remaining part of the same home and community.

The care home, which was originally the vicarage for Rodden, is carrying out the refurbishment in three phases to avoid disrupting day-to-day life. The work is being completed gradually, with the first five bedrooms now finished and the second phase due to begin in January.

Somerset House is designed to be a quieter household, providing a calming quiet space for people who benefit from a more peaceful home environment. The open-plan kitchenette and dining area have been refurbished with new flooring, along with a spacious new shower room. Although new furniture is in place, families are encouraged to bring their own furniture and belongings, so each room feels familiar to the person moving in.

Somerset House also opens onto a small courtyard upstairs, giving people another option for enjoying some fresh air.
