Decorating The Sensory Christmas Tree

Last Updated: 11 Dec 2025 @ 00:00 AM

Christmas time gave us an opportunity to add a splash of Fun to Christmas tree decoration. It was a great team effort by residents, staff, volunteers, families and Crafting for the community who all came together to make decorations for our first ever sensory tree in Iverley View. Many people with dementia have some kind of sensory impairment, such as sight loss, hearing loss, or both. Tactile fabrics and memory evoking smells can create opportunities for positive experiences and memories. By making the decorations from fabrics, wool and clay our residents practised skills they have used in their past, enjoyed team work engaging with others, and sense of achievement to hang their decorations on the tree together. We love sharing moments like this with our residents.
