Residents and colleagues at HC-One’s Silverwood Care Home in Rotherham have been giving back to their local community by donating to a number of vital charities supporting people across the area.
The home recently gifted donations to Rotherham Hospice, Sunnyside Supplies, Crossroads, and the Parents Association of Children with Tumours and Leukaemia (PACT). The donations were made to support local organisations at a time of year when many individuals and families are facing increased financial pressures.
As part of the initiative, Silverwood resident Joyce Grainger, aged 85, accompanied colleagues on a visit to Sunnyside Community Centre, where they were warmly welcomed by the team.
Joyce said: “It was wonderful to see everyone at Sunnyside Supplies; they were very welcoming. We had a cup of tea and a mince pie, and it was nice to have a little trip out of the home.”
The visit was supported by Yasmin Smith, Wellbeing Coordinator, who has worked closely with local community partners to organise the donations, alongside Carrie Davies, Home Manager at Silverwood Care Home.
Carrie Davies said: “We wanted to donate to our local community, especially at this time of year when many people are struggling. It’s important to us that Silverwood plays an active role in supporting the amazing charities working across Rotherham.”
She added: “A massive thank you to Yasmin, one of our Wellbeing Coordinators, who has worked tirelessly to build community links and arrange these donations. Well done for making this happen, you are a real credit to the team.”
Silverwood Care Home remains committed to supporting its local community and creating meaningful connections that benefit both residents and the wider Rotherham area.
