The home itself is clean and comfortable with a variety of communal areas, lounges and a dining room where residents are encouraged to socialise plus a lovely enclosed garden. Individual rooms are comfortable and provide privacy.
The staff are brilliant and seem to take the time to get to know the residents and their individual needs, likes/dislikes and interests. Over the last year they have supported mum through several medical emergencies and have adapted care when needed, e.g. recovering from a broken hip.
There are regular activities and entertainment, the music days are mum's favourite, she still loves to get up and dance.
As a family we are so relieved that mum is safe and content.
Thank you for such thoughtful feedback as you approach your mum's first anniversary at Silverwood. We are pleased to hear that she is safe, content and well supported as her needs have changed, and it is wonderful to know she still enjoys the music sessions and getting up to dance. Your kind words about our team mean a great deal.
Staff were caring and friendly. Always with a smile. Kept me informed regarding wellbeing.

While she was there, she formed bonds with staff and residents and enjoyed days out and activities. The food was excellent and she put on quite a bit of weight while she was there. The care was exemplary and the staff understanding and empathetic. They cared for mum with such dignity towards the end of her life and we are so grateful to them.
Brilliant care home. Looked after my parents. Was always updated with their progress.

Mum has Alzheimer's and had been considering moving into a care home. I was due to go on holiday when mum deteriorated quickly, and we needed respite. The whole team at Silverwood have been amazing. The room was available. She was moved in quickly. On moving day, all the staff were amazing, making a very stressful day much better. Mum is well looked after by everyone, the care and compassion has been amazing. Silverwood is clean, and what I like most is the laughter I hear from the staff and residents. Thank you.

If I could have rated this care home 0 stars then I would have. My nan was a resident here for less than 2 weeks for respite. My nan was able to abscond from the care home at 5:30am through a fire door, and staff said they presumed this was another resident. Staff, maintenance, and the home manager were all aware of the fences around the back being less than secure but still had not fixed these, allowing my nanan to exit through the fence, resulting in her being covered in bruises. The home said they noticed her missing at 5:30 but did not ring the police to report her missing until 06:41, and also failed contact myself or any of my nanans family who could've gone out to help look for her, and did not do so until 7. She was also given a key to her bedroom which somehow found her opening the cleaning cupboard. Very quick to send an invoice for " care " she received but not ring the police. Would not recommend. If it is any consolation some of the staff were amazing.

We found Silverwood to be a very relaxing home with good space for the patients to walk around with their aids, also the small lounge areas made it like home from home for all of us. My husband was only in there for 2 weeks but we wouldn't hesitate for him to come back at anytime if he ever needs...
Thank you all very much x
Mum suffers with dementia and the carers are lovely with her. They understand Mum's needs and her personality. Always there when she is struggling and they have been really supportive to my family, especially my dad.

Initially two weeks respite care, then made permanent due to how my dad reacted to being there and the impression we got from the site (care staff and management). My dad was looked after really well and his mood remained very good throughout his staff. All staff members were great with our family also, they made a difficult time much easier.
My mother was at Silverwood (Rotherham) for two years. She was a very difficult person to anyone. Despite all of mothers non-cooperation and sometimes hostility. The staff did a very good job to keep her safe, comfortable and occupied. All of the staff were always very pleasant and helpful, we...
They did try to encourage her to become involved with activities, with only little success, but that was due to her attitude, not the staff.
The home is comfortable and has warm, quiet atmosphere and it is kept clean at all times. I have no criticism, I only wish my mother would have been more receptive of cooperative. Thanks for looking after her to the end.
My mum is happy at the care home. The staff are really caring and helpful. The rooms are clean and tidy. Maybe improve the activities to get the residents more involved especially focusing on their abilities and needs, maybe purchase a minibus. The food is good but needs a bit more variety.

Thank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. We are pleased to share we now have regular access to a minibus, and we have several trips out planned over the next few months. We currently have a six-weekly seasonal menu in place and additionally, our chef meets with residents monthly to discuss their likes, dislikes and preferences which helps us develop future menus tailored to our residents' tastes. Thank you for your positive comments and suggestions, all of which are greatly appreciated.
