If I could have rated this care home 0 stars then I would have. My nan was a resident here for less than 2 weeks for respite. My nan was able to abscond from the care home at 5:30am through a fire door, and staff said they presumed this was another resident. Staff, maintenance, and the home manager
were all aware of the fences around the back being less than secure but still had not fixed these, allowing my nanan to exit through the fence, resulting in her being covered in bruises. The home said they noticed her missing at 5:30 but did not ring the police to report her missing until 06:41, and also failed contact myself or any of my nanans family who could've gone out to help look for her, and did not do so until 7. She was also given a key to her bedroom which somehow found her opening the cleaning cupboard. Very quick to send an invoice for " care " she received but not ring the police. Would not recommend. If it is any consolation some of the staff were amazing.

My uncle is in respite at the moment doesn't look
Like he will be coming home he is 92 with issues and I carnt praise this home enough the staff and food and care is second to none the manager is fabulous best care home I've ever been in excellent from day one the food is out standing well done to
all the staff thanks.

We found Silverwood to be a very relaxing home with good space for the patients to walk around with their aids, also the small lounge areas made it like home from home for all of us. My husband was only in there for 2 weeks but we wouldn't hesitate for him to come back at anytime if he ever needs care.

Mum suffers with dementia and the carers are lovely with her. They understand Mum's needs and her personality. Always there when she is struggling and they have been really supportive to my family, especially my dad.

Nannan arrived on Friday evening, the staff made her feel welcome on arrival. Myself and my sister arrived and we were shown around the building and the entry and exit procedure was explained. The staff have been brilliant with my nan, very caring and attentive, doctors were arranged too after being
concerned about my nan's legs.

Silverwood is always calm, warm and welcoming. The staff are all kind, caring and professional. My mum regularly tells me the food is very good and plentiful. The cleanliness is excellent and the housekeeping team can be seen continually cleaning at every visit.

My dad experienced a really good one year stay at Silverwood. Initially two weeks respite care, then made permanent due to how my dad reacted to being there and the impression we got from the site (care staff and management). My dad was looked after really well and his mood remained very good throughout
his staff. All staff members were great with our family also, they made a difficult time much easier.

My mother was at Silverwood (Rotherham) for two years. She was a very difficult person to anyone. Despite all of mothers non-cooperation and sometimes hostility. The staff did a very good job to keep her safe, comfortable and occupied. All of the staff were always very pleasant and helpful, we developed
a good relationship with them all.
They did try to encourage her to become involved with activities, with only little success, but that was due to her attitude, not the staff.
The home is comfortable and has warm, quiet atmosphere and it is kept clean at all times. I have no criticism, I only wish my mother would have been more receptive of cooperative. Thanks for looking after her to the end.

My mum is happy at the care home. The staff are really caring and helpful. The rooms are clean and tidy. Maybe improve the activities to get the residents more involved especially focusing on their abilities and needs, maybe purchase a minibus. The food is good but needs a bit more variety.

We are pleased to share we now have regular access to a minibus, and we have several trips out planned over the next few months. We currently have a six-weekly seasonal menu in place and additionally, our chef meets with residents monthly to discuss their likes, dislikes and preferences which helps us develop future menus tailored to our residents' tastes. I have been really happy with everything about Silverwood, its staff and Mum's care. Everyone is friendly and helpful and I never feel anything is too much trouble. The food variety is good and nutritious. There are often activities or events going on and residents always seem keen to get involved.
I've never witnessed anything which concerns me and that is not my experience at other care homes.

I have found that my wife is very well cared for and very happy herself. Staff always helpful and very good at liaising if there are any problems, there are areas in which the home excels, one is the food, always plenty of variety and well cooked, a few problems arise but mainly through funding and
needing more staff but it's nothing to do with the home.

The health and welfare of my mother is obviously of paramount importance to me. Especially as I live in the USA. On my visits to Silverwood, I've found the staff and management excellent. Very accommodating and helpful in every sense of the word. The general cleaning staff are fantastic, taking pride
in their work. The management, including admin, have been great. Nothing seems too much trouble. I'm so happy my mother is in Silverwood and thank all concerning for their kindness and dedication.

From initial meet and greet, the staff and manager have been supportive and understanding, reassuring any concerns I may have had about both the process and my mum's requirements being catered for. The staff are very welcoming and very interactive with all residents and family members. Nothing is too much trouble. They keep records of the patients day to day routine which is accessible to us at any given time. The food is cooked fresh daily which is a big bonus as many of the homes we looked at
were ready-made bought in. I feel very comfortable that my Dad is in good caring hands when I leave from visiting the home.

Carrie is highly experienced and motivated Home Manager who is dedicated to delivering the highest possible standard of care and quality of life. She has a proven track record of providing excellent care and support, from starting at Silverwood as a Carer and developing her skills to become Home Manager.


Carrie shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident, that’s why she joined the company in 2011. She is passionate about eliminating the stigma surrounding care homes and encourages the Residents of Silverwood to live life to the fullest.


She uses her knowledge of the local area to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Silverwood.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Carrie remarked:


“The variety, knowing that no two days are the same for me or my colleagues.”


Outside of work, Carrie loves listening to music, she believes that love and music make the world go round.
