Silverwood Care Home is a spacious, purpose-built care home with a choice of lounges and dining areas to relax and socialise in, as well as a fully-equipped and modern salon with frequent visits from a local hairdresser, which is very popular among current residents. 

Situated in the attractive residential area of Sunnyside in Rotherham and supporting residents to lead their best lives, the home also offers a pretty garden to sit and watch the world go by or catch up with loved ones during summer months. Bedrooms at Silverwood are bright and comfortable, and accessible by wheelchair.

Mum has been in Silverwood for a year now. It is a very friendly environment and the staff are very kind and caring. We would definitely recommend the home to anyone.

Having moved from a 3-bed house to one small room (with concealed toilet/washbasin) and having come to it bereaved, as my Husband had recently died of cancer, though I was expected to die first, as the older one, but also having heart, lungs and other medical problems. However, instead of staying in
our home until death, Doctors said I needed 24-hour cover, hence being admitted into a care home. Quite a surprise to me but I now admit this is the right place and can't complain really as, even though the carers are different, they are good. After 6 months I like my room and am happy now though, because of a few difficulties, together we will 'sort' them for my comfort.

My family are extremely happy with the care and support my mother receives in Silverwood Care Home. She has dementia which is slowly limiting her to everyday needs. We are always kept fully informed of everything she needs re medication etc. We are truly thankful she is being well cared for, the staff
always have time for a chat with her. Although she is not the mum of yesteryear, she still has a smile on her face when we visit.

The care in Silverwood is very good. Clients are treated as individuals. Steps are taken to avoid and resolve any problems/issues and equipment obtained if needed. Staff are helpful and patient and take good care. The surroundings are clean and the single storey makes it easy for mobile residents to
move safely. Special diet needs are met - very good care.

Excellent levels of care, all staff tremendously committed. The home itself is spotlessly clean at all times. The only issue I have is staffing levels, more carers are needed.

My mum has been at Silverwood now for 10 months and I am very pleased with the care she has received. The staff are extremely friendly and kind and nothing is too much trouble. Mum recently had a fall and broke her hip and I couldn't have wished for better care whilst waiting for the ambulance. She
is now on the mend and being looked after very well.

Silverwood care home has proven to be a safe and happy home for my mum who has dementia. Many of the staff are kind and helpful. The rooms are kept spick and span. My mum's care needs are met with kindness and compassion. The care home has events from time to time to entertain the residents. Care is
taken with medication. This home is a hidden gem in Rotherham.

Knowing mum was safe and being well cared for I decided to travel to London to organise her house. On Wednesday 3rd January 2018 mum had a fall and I was called straight away. I was completely reassured and a carer went with mum to hospital and stayed all day. Another carer went as the shifts changed
and during the whole day I took comfort knowing she wasn't alone. When I got to the hospital, I was able to talk to the nurses and all mum's notes and discharge information was mentioned to Silverwood. Very organised and calm.

I have no problems with Silverwood over the care of my mother. All staff are presentable and very friendly.
I admire the job they do and they always do it with care and a smile. They also get to know residents and relatives and are always ready to have a chat.
The staff go over and beyond in my estimation.

My mum is on a soft diet. Recently Mum's appetite has really dropped, but the carers have tried and tried, even assisting her. This one particular lunchtime, Mum had refused her food and said to the carer she didn't want it because it wasn't silver service, so the carer thought about this and came back
with the food in a silver dish. To their surprise, Mum ate all the food - now Mum's food is served in a silver dish.

Mum was well cared for and treated with dignity by the staff at Silverwood. Mum was in a lot of pain because of her condition and staff did their best to administer medication to help relieve the pain. Her room was comfortable and kept extremely clean. However, the surfaces in the kitchen needed to
be replaced. The food at times could have been better.

I am disabled and my wife takes care of me but had to go into hopsital for a knee replacement so I needed extra care. Silverwood was recommended by a friend. I was in for five days, I enjoyed every moment of it, such a pleasant place. Staff are so cheerful and helpful, I can't fault it. I am 84 years
old.

My great grandma lives at Silverwood and I could not think of a better place for her to be. The staff are extremely kind and could not do enough for her, they are not just her carers but they are her second family. On her 100th birthday staff came especially on their day off the see her and made it
such a special and amazing day for my grandma. They look after her amazingly and in her 6 years of living there not one single concern has arisen, it is a great peace of mind knowing she is getting the best care possible from such kind people. I would definitely recommend them to anyone's family.

Carrie is highly experienced and motivated Home Manager who is dedicated to delivering the highest possible standard of care and quality of life. She has a proven track record of providing excellent care and support, from starting at Silverwood as a Carer and developing her skills to become Home Manager.


Carrie shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident, that’s why she joined the company in 2011. She is passionate about eliminating the stigma surrounding care homes and encourages the Residents of Silverwood to live life to the fullest.


She uses her knowledge of the local area to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Silverwood.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Carrie remarked:


“The variety, knowing that no two days are the same for me or my colleagues.”


Outside of work, Carrie loves listening to music, she believes that love and music make the world go round.
