Rosedale Court Welcomes the Canvey Uker’s

Rosedale Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, was filled with music, laughter, and festive cheer on 16 December 2025, as residents, families, friends, and staff welcomed back the much-loved Canvey Uker’s Ukulele Band for a special Christmas performance.

The Canvey Uker’s Ukulele Christmas Special saw the band perform a joyful mix of festive favourites alongside timeless classics, including “When You’re Smiling” and “Hello Dolly.” Music rang throughout the home as residents enthusiastically joined in, singing along and enjoying the uplifting atmosphere created by the live performance.

The visit was organised by the Lifestyle Team, following the success of previous performances by the Canvey Uker’s. Wanting to return and spread Christmas cheer, the band worked with the team to create a special seasonal event that brought the community together.

The atmosphere throughout the afternoon was vibrant and heart-warming, with smiles all around and the sound of singing filling the lounge. One of the standout moments saw the entire room singing together to “When You’re Smiling,” creating a truly memorable shared experience.

Louise Healy, Lifestyle Lead at Rosedale Court, said: “It is so important to keep our connections with the local community strong. Regular visits from bands and singers help us build lasting relationships and bring so much joy to our residents. Music plays a huge role in keeping everyone happy, engaged, and smiling.”

Residents and families were delighted by the return visit. One resident shared: “We love the Canvey Uker’s, and it’s great they have come back to do a Christmas special for us.”

Another resident, Lisa A, added: “I loved singing ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.’”

Lorna R, resident, said: “Thank you for organising the band to come back — they are so good.”

Family members also praised the event, with Claire Cotterill, family member of Pat Hollington, commenting: “What a lovely afternoon. Mum and I really enjoyed it.”

The Canvey Uker’s Christmas Special was a wonderful example of how music and community connections enrich daily life at Rosedale Court, leaving residents with festive smiles.
