View Full Details of Swallownest Care HomeThe moment I stepped in here, I knew it was different to the others. The decor is lovely and very homely. All staff always have a smile and a giggle with my dad. I can't actually find any fault with this place. May seem a quick review after a short while, but after being in a few others, I just knew. Admin lady has been epic at helping me fill all the forms in. After visiting for only a week, I feel like part of the furniture and my mental health has improved knowing and feeling he is safe and looked after. My dad is a joker and he has met his match with the staff haha. They are ace xx
Mum was welcomed by warm friendly staff upon her arrival. She settled in very quickly and well little teething problems were dealt with straight away. Mum made friends and took up knitting again! She had some fabulous afternoons with the wellbeing ladies. Food! Plenty of it and all good! Plenty of choices and drinks. It was so helpful to myself as I know someone was around day and through the night to see to her needs. Weekly doctor visit a fantastic help. We both had a well deserved rest. Thank you.
Great place for grandma, taken great care of her and really helped me and mum out. Thanks again!
Was so pleased when Mum went into Swallownest Care Home. The staff, atmosphere and room and facilities are great. The only negative is waiting for mum to be assessed for a chair so can join in the activities in the lounge and be around people. I know this is not the home's fault but OT comin out to her, she's now been stuck in bed 4 weeks and her physical and mental health has gone down hill. The period of time needs addressing but I have no fault with the home itself.
I am a regular volunteer at the home and although I have connections to the home through both my father in law and my mum being resident here. Although my father in law was only in the home for a few weeks, some time ago, I got the feeling that the home was somewhere special and so when it was time for me to consider somewhere for my mum, I had no doubt where I wanted her to go. Since mum passed away a few years go I have continued to go to the home to volunteer and still see the difference that the dedicated staff make to the lives of the residents. I hope that my small part in making the home seem like "home" to the residents helps. I love to help the residents if we are crafting, or singing if there is a concert or sometimes just sitting down having a chat with them one to one. The management team at the home also do a great job as do the kitchen, laundry and cleaning staff. Great place.
This home's attentive manner is outstanding. Each & every one of the management/staff go out of their way to treat you as one of their own. My husband said that everyone was so kind & lovely, that they went out of their way to make you feel welcome. Nothing's too much trouble. The food is so good & plentiful. I don't think he wanted to come home from the respite! Thanks again to all.
My Dad moved in following a hospital stay. To say he wasn't keen was an understatement - he was a fiercely independent 94 year old and didn't give this up willingly. However, he soon settled in and joined in with whatever was going on. My Mum also moved in and I was happy with the care they received. When my Dad died, a staff member spent her day off accompanying my Mum to his funeral - such a lovely thing to do. When my Mum died, she was treated with so much dignity and I was given time to grieve and be with her, an experience I didn't have when my Dad died in the hospital. There are some lovely people working here whom I have the utmost respect for. They do a great job, sometimes in difficult circumstances, with the residents and their families. They should never underestimate the impact they have.
I have found all the staff that I have had contact with friendly and helpful. My mum has been a resident for 5 months. She likes the activities that are arranged for her and other residents. I have participated with them on St Patrick's Day. I felt reassured that she is in a safe place that looks after her very well.
Both my grandad and grandma have been cared for in this home and it's highly recommended. When they come to this time in their life, it puts your mind at ease knowing they're being cared for in a good facility with caring staff.
Extremely friendly staff, they always greet you with a smile and ask how you are! They work really hard especially caring for the residents, they cannot alway be there in an instant but they always come as quickly as possible, it's such a kind caring friendly environment and my nan has settled in really well and seems to love the staff, the carers always give an update on her when we arrive which is nice. The food always looks nicely presented and arrives hot, my nan can be a fussy eater so doesn't eat most of what she's given but she says it's nice when she's eating it. Theres always plenty of fluids available for her and her water jug is never empty. The rooms are spotlessly clean and homely. There's been some days when we've visited where there's been some sort of event going off but my nan hasn't felt up to attend any at the moment but the staff always try to encourage her to take part. Overall my nan is happy and content which makes us happy.
Although my mother-in-law was at Swallownest for a very short time leading up to her death. She received excellent care and support throughout. Staff were kind, professional and considerate of all our needs. They created a welcoming atmosphere, with daily activities which residents and their loved ones could access and enjoy. I would heartily recommend Swallownest to anyone seeking a care home for themselves or a relative.
Excellent place, caring lovely staff who go above and beyond for the care of the residents. Wouldn't want my grandma to be anywhere else as I always feel she is safe and looked after here. Thank you everyone.
Staff are really lovely and friendly, I feel my nan is really well looked after, safe and entertained, they go above and beyond to make sure she's settled and well, her room is always clean and tidy and shes really happy to be there, she loves it, which for me is the most important, couldn't recommend enough, brilliant
On the whole, the care home is good, the staff are great, they work hard. Regarding the activities, they are poor, at first, it was very good, I can understand the person who ran them has been off and her deputy has left, there hasn't been anybody to replace her. It didn't help matters when the lift wasn't working for 12 weeks just before Christmas. Everything was cancelled.
Found the staff friendly, the home spotlessly clean, always going that extra bit to help, always greated with a smile and a quick update on my mum, make time to make you feel welcome even though they always busy, not just the caring staff every one of them.
We moved my mum into Swallownest last week and staff and management have been wonderful in helping to facilitate the move. Although Mum has taken a bit of time to deal with the move, staff have been excellent in reassuring her and helping her settle.
My mum was a resident for five and a half years. In all that time I never had any occasion to be anything but satisfied with the care she received. Lots of activities to which we were invited and enjoyed. The home has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. In mum's final days, she was cared for with dignity, love and respect as were we. It felt like everyone was part of the family not just staff doing a job. Can't praise them enough and would highly recommend.
A lovely care home. All staff were helpful and supportive. I couldn’t fault anything with the care given to my 102-year-old mother-in-law. Would definitely recommend this care home to anyone currently searching for a place for their relative.
Mum has been a resident here for over four years. I have felt very happy with her care. There is almost a family atmosphere here. The staff do their best to include everyone, even in the smallest of ways. In a recent room change (due to renovation), great attention was paid to her being happy, bed facing the window, colours of the decor for which I was pleased.
Mum has only been at Swallownest Care Home for a few weeks and is already settling into her new place of living. I can't thank the staff enough for their care and compassion for Mum particularly as she is unwell at the moment but is improving each day. The care she is receiving is excellent and the staff are so kind and caring. Myself and sister know Mum is in the best place as she needs 24 hours now.
