View Full Details of Craven Nursing HomeMy mum came to reside at Craven Nursing Home in February 2025, following a stay in hospital and a shortened life expectancy diagnosis. Within a few weeks, she improved dramatically, gaining strength and confidence. She put on weight, joined in the huge variety of activities and enjoyed the pampering sessions including weekly hair styling - all great for morale. All the staff are dedicated, highly trained, gentle and compassionate. Residents are treated as individuals, their likes and dislikes catered for and special occasions celebrated. Friends and family are made to feel very welcome when visiting. With the glorious weather this summer, my mum spent a lot of time outside in the beautiful gardens. I am so grateful she was able to spend the last 7 months surrounded by people who truly cared. I cannot fault them.
Dad spent 9 days with Craven Court he was very end of life Steph & the whole team showed so much care compassion & kindness not only for dad but for the rest of the family We can not speak highly enough of everyone involved our heartfelt thanks will never be enough at this very sad challenging time of our lives
I cannot speak highly enough of the care my uncle received in the care of Craven. This is a care home managed by an exceptionally caring manager who has the care and best interests of the residents as her priority. The staff she employs have a high standard of duty of care and they are hard working and dedicated. Cleanliness to a high standard, lovely home cooked meals and baking every day, nothing is too much trouble. My uncle was extremely well looked after and cared about and that care was extended to the whole family. We were always made to feel welcome. Residents are taken on trips around the local area which is beautiful and very well looked after and safe. I would recommend most definitely Craven as a very homely, welcoming , comfortable, supportive, professional but also relaxed and calm place to live.
My husband was in Craven Nursing Home for almost 5 years. During that time, he and I were both treated with the utmost respect and compassion. All staff (not just the nurses and carers) take a interest in, and interact with the residents and the care is exemplary. The Activities team manage to come up with a diverse and stimulating range of activities and are simply brilliant. In the last few days of his life, my husband received the best palliative care and the whole team pulled together to ensure we were both cared for, which made a difficult and sad time more bearable. It really did become my second family and I can't thank them enough.
My dad was admitted to Craven NH in November 2024 and passed away in the NH May 2025. Craven NH was outstanding in the care and treatment dad received. From the minute we contacted them the staff were friendly, professional, considerate and compassionate always and made all the family feel like part of the Craven NH family. We could not fault any element of dad's care and the staff could not have been any more professional, polite and friendly during the time before, during and after his passing. The building and gardens were maintained and cleaned to a very high standard and the food was excellent. We are so glad we chose Craven NH for dad and would highly recommend it. The best NH I have ever visited by far. A big thank you to the staff.
Having recently had my Mum in the Craven Nursing Home, I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff there. They go that extra mile, not just for Mum but for all her family. The care she received was amazing, nothing too much trouble, treating her with care and respect. I will be forever grateful and never forget how kind you all were to us. Thanks again. I would thoroughly recommend this care home.
From the first enquiry with reception, who passed us to the manager, who explained all about Craven and staff who in my opinion were angels. They took great care in looking after my wife.
My husband had been in hospital since October 2024 and had found that very uncomfortable so it was a great relief when he was transferred to Craven Nursing Home. Staffing levels were much higher so staff had time to listen to what he had to say and what he wanted. He hated feeling scruffy and the day before he died he had a shave and a haircut which made a huge difference to how he felt. The bed was so much more comfortable and his room was very pleasant. The family and I could visit as and when we wanted and refreshments were provided for visitors. My husband was unable to eat or drink but the meals I was provided with were both appetising and healthy. Unfortunately he was only in craven nursing home for a week before he died very peacefully while I was with him. All staff then continued to be unfailingly kind, patient and helpful to our large family.
Mum moved into Craven in November. From day one it was like being home. Mums room faced the canal, she loved seeing the boats. Her room was lovely with an en-suite toilet. I visited every day after nursing mum for the 10 month prior. For me it was like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders & I could spend quality time with her. We had 4 months in Craven before my mum passed away, during that time she was treated amazingly & so were we. Staff are like family to us and I will miss each & every one of them. We had mums last Christmas, Birthday & Mothers Day at Craven & the staff went out of there way to make each day special and filled with love & fun for mum and us. Her care was excellent and the nurses went out of their way to make sure mum had everything she needed. Mum passed away & we stayed with her & we were all really looked after. Mums care during her death was excellent and she passed peacefully, which is all anyone could ask for. Such a wonderful place with excellent staff
My mum stayed in the home for a few months, and we were delighted with the care and support she received. She was developing dementia, losing mobility, and struggling to communicate, but the staff treated her with patience, kindness, and compassion. She formed lovely relationships with them, which made leaving her there much easier. We were always welcome to visit, make hot drinks, have snacks, and even join meals. The food was delicious, homemade, and perfect for the residents, which Mum loved. It was also nutritious, ideal for those in their care. As Mum's health deteriorated, she passed away in the home. I'll always be grateful for the kindness and support of the staff during her final days. They helped us understand what was happening, took care of Mum's needs, and allowed me to stay with her almost 24 hours a day. The experience was better than I ever imagined for me and I hope for Mum. Thank you, Craven Team.
My mum suffered from advanced dementia in the last years of her life and she was cared for at Craven Nursing Home. The nursing and support staff at Craven are experienced, very professional and caring. Mum was always treated with kindness, compassion and respect. Sometimes, because of the dementia, she would be agitated and her behaviour could be challenging but, without exception, all the staff were very patient and calm with her. Despite her severe dementia, they took the trouble to get to know her as a person, which meant a lot to our family. The leadership team at Craven promote a warm and friendly, safe and supportive environment for all their residents. Thank you for looking after Mum and supporting our family through difficult times.
Craven Nursing Home staff are very caring and professional in the way they looked after my father.
My father received 6 months end of life care during this last year at Craven Nursing Home. Although he was not mobile and so very quietly spoken, the staff took their time in getting to know him and enjoyed his sense of humour. He was cared for with the utmost professionalism, integrity and a high level of nursing, caring, kindness and compassion whilst also maintaining his dignity. It was a challenging time but the office doors were always open to offer support and advice and a friendly chat. The reception, caretakers, kitchen, activities team and laundry staff were all so very helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble. As a family, we couldn’t recommend or thank Craven enough and I know my dad would’ve agreed.
My husband has been a resident of Craven Nursing Home for the past two years. During this time he has received the best care and I as a frequent visitor always find him very comfortable and well cared for, in fact, I couldn’t ask for anything more and it is such a pleasure to visit, as the staff are always very friendly and welcoming too! Any queries or requests are always dealt with quickly and efficiently. Would not hesitate to recommend this nursing home to anyone considering care for a loved one.
The staff, environment and amenities at Craven Nursing Home have always been exemplary and I am very happy that my mother receives such amazingly good care and support from the dedicated and attentive staff, for whom nothing ever seems too much trouble, no matter how busy they are. They provide a good range of activities suitable for residents of various abilities.
My father-in-law first went into Craven Nursing Home in July 2022 and has been quite a challenge for all the team. All the staff got to know him and knew what he liked/disliked and made his time in the nursing home special for him and us as a family. We can never thank them enough for all the care and support they gave him and us while he was there, the staff go above and beyond and work extremely hard and the management team are always there with an open door to listen and comfort when times are tough with a relative. The nursing home over the last couple of months supported us through a really hard time with his end-of-life care and we were so grateful for all the love and compassion they showed him making him comfortable and very settled at the end but also looking after us too. Craven is a special place and will always be special to us so thank you to all of you and keep doing what you do.
My stepmother was diagnosed with dementia in summer 2021. Following my father's death that June, we needed to find a suitable care home for my stepmother. Craven provided a wonderful home for her final 2 and a half years. She was well looked after, and enjoyed all the many activities provided (music, craft, flower arranging, mini bus trips) and also made friends. The nursing staff were brilliant, and her end-of-life care was provided with great dignity and support. The homes communication via weekly newsletters, regular face-to-face residents relatives meetings and monthly residents/relatives breakfasts was 1st class.
I cannot fault the care that Mum (who has many complex needs) received while in the Swan Ward. I could see her relaxing as she settled into her confidence in the care that she was getting. I spent many hours at Craven on most days in the early weeks, and I, too, soon became certain that our mother was in good hands. Furthermore, everybody who looked after Mum achieved the remarkable feat of convincing me that they were doing their long hours of intimate care with a sense of personal commitment to their patient, my mother. My experience is that Craven is a very good home, very well managed, and staffed by remarkable people.
In regards to my wife's care and time spent at Craven Nursing Home, she was very well looked after and the staff are amazing.
When my mother was admitted to Craven Nursing Home we were informed by the discharging hospital that she had days or possibly 'a short number of weeks' of life expectancy. My mum was unable to get out of her bed and only had very minor movement in one arm and her neck/shoulder muscles. She was extremely frail. Mother has been cared for in a caring, extremely compassionate and understanding way. I am delighted that 8 weeks after discharge Mum is still with us, she has strengthened, engaged with us and takes pleasure in what goes on around her. All the staff have a lovely, friendly and still professional manner and attitude. She has made progress on most fronts. Her movement and conversation have improved significantly. The nursing staff had a very good understanding of her complex needs and requirements.
