View Full Details of Laxfield HouseMy aunt stayed in Laxfield House from January 2022 until November 2024. The atmosphere at Laxfield was warm and friendly and my aunt was very happy there. Her room was light and spacious and with her personal things around her felt very home from home. As her relatives we were always made very welcome. Staff always had time for us and we always felt aunty was being well looked after. We certainly felt part of the Laxfield family and couldn't really have been happier to have found this gem so close to where we live.
I was admitted to Laxfield House following a fall at home. The intention was that I would return home within a month, but my stay was 6 months I was extremely impressed with the overall care. The carers were excellent, helpful, attentive and cheerful and as I improved encouraged me to do more for myself. It is significant that several of the carers have been at Laxfield for over 20 years. Laxfield is owned and run by the family and the atmosphere is of a family home. I was very happy there!
My father went into the care of Laxfield from early January until he passed away in February 2025. After eight months in and out of hospital and respite NHS care, the last five weeks of his life in Laxfield were the best care we could ask for. My father was so well cared for and treated with dignity , respect and excellent personalised care. He quickly settled in and responded very well to the very qualified staff at the home. It felt very peaceful and a safe haven for him after the chaos and stress of hospital. He was very unwell at the end but we could not have asked for more as a family and were happy that his final weeks were in such a good and trustworthy home. Would highly recommend
My husband has been under the care of Laxfield House for over 2 years. I believe his care to have been consistently good throughout this time, managing his condition when it changes. I love all the staff at Laxfield who I believe genuinely care and love the very difficult and important jobs they do. This is the most emotional and challenging time of my (and my husbands) life and I am confident that Laxfield fulfils his needs, he is comfortable and safe in their very experienced home. I cannot praise them enough.
My aunt was a resident at Laxfield House for over 5 years. In that time the care she received was second to none. She found it difficult to move from her home to Laxfield initially-as did I, but she settled quickly. Management and staff were always very conscious of her particular needs. They were all professional, friendly and became like family. I can only thank them all for the care and kindness they gave to my aunt in her final years.
Going into a care home is never ideal but my father is happy and well looked after. The location, relative to where I live, is not ideal but we wouldn't dream of relocating him due to the quality of the care. It is expensive but you definitely get what you pay for in this case.
My uncle relocated to Laxfield House to be near family. We chose it because it came highly recommended. It did not disappoint in any way. My uncle was cared for with the utmost dignity, empathy and exceptional professionalism from all the staff he came into contact with. They were interested in his life as an academic and a professional and he in turn took time to get to know them. He forged some lovely relationships with staff and called Laxfield House his home. My sister and I were always welcome to visit and we always felt welcomed and part of the larger "family" his time there was extremely positive.
Over the years that we have been visiting a number of friends who were or are residents at Laxfield House, we have always been welcomed efficiently and warmly. Any questions always answered well and understandable and the residents seen have never expressed a gripe or complaint to us. Laxfield House do a wonderful + professional job and I would be happy to go there myself if need be.
I have found Laxfield to be the best I could have for my husband (who has mixed dementia with Lewy Body). They have managed him well with good care and dignity. It is a very well-managed nursing home and is a very peaceful place for my husband to be, keeping him safe and comfortable. All the staff are very caring. I would recommend this nursing home to anyone. They also look out for me and are very mindful of how hard this is for me also.
Laxfield House is an excellent care home. Management and staff are always extremely helpful and pleasant. My uncle has been there for 3 years now. During this time, he has deteriorated considerably and Laxfield House have accommodated uncle's decline in every way. My mother and a close friend have also been here in the past - no complaints.
My mother moved into Laxfield House in January following a lengthy illness and stay in hospital. She moved in for short term respite care, but we are now struggling to convince her to move home! Everything at Laxfield is so well done, from the lovely rooms, large conservatory and gardens, to the excellent food presented on trays and wonderful, caring staff. We couldn't be happier with her care and should she choose to leave one day, I'm sure she'll be back.
All aspects of care, wellbeing and dignity were carried out to an exemplary standard for mum and dad at all times. The family were also treated with compassion, being kept well informed at all times and supported throughout. It was also lovely that mum and dad were able to be together in a double room even though their needs were very different which was a huge comfort not only for my mum and dad but all the family too. Their room was well maintained and airy and the gardens were very relaxing and mum and dad spent many an afternoon sitting outside enjoying the surroundings. It was such a huge weight off our shoulders as we were confident that mum and dad were receiving all the attention they deserve and we can't thank Laxfield House enough for giving us that peace of mind.
After considering five care and nursing homes and visiting these over the 2018 Christmas period we had no hesitation in choosing Laxfield House as the most suitable home for my mother. The home is well staffed and always has a suitably qualified nursing sister on duty. My mother has settled in well and we couldn't have made a better choice for her.
My aunty spent four months in another care home prior to transferring to Laxfield House. Only then did I realise how good Laxfield is. Everyone is genuinely approachable and friendly. The food is well varied with individual preferences catered for outside of basic choices, proper crockery, napkins and doilies are nice touches. The resident's communal areas are spacious and varied especially the magnificent conservatory. Hygiene is evidently top priority and the ambience throughout the premises is consistently very pleasant.
A very good home in beautiful surroundings that provides a professional and high standard of care. Very professional, nice and caring staff who clearly treat residents with respect and dignity.
When it became impossible for me to care for my mother at home due to disability and dementia, my sister and I had to make the decision to find for her, which was in our opinion, the very best nursing home in East Anglia. Laxfield House more than fulfilled our demanding criteria. Our mother is very comfortable at Laxfield, where she has a beautiful room with en-suite facilities and is extremely well cared for in all respects. The staff are exemplary, and their kindness not only to our mother but to my sister and myself is unconditional and 24/7. Both my sister and I will always hold a special place in our hearts for everyone at Laxfield House for the kindness and support they show to us always, at what is a most difficult and emotional time.
The establishment, staff and level of care are excellent.
The care home is excellent and the support from the staff is second to none. On occasions at weekends is a bit short. Overall I would have no hesitation in recommending it.
Laxfield House has a great number of genuine 'carers' on its staff; by that, I mean individuals who really do care about the residents. The 'surroundings' to the care home, the garden, the conservatory, are wonderful facilities for the residents, and add greatly to the 'within room' care that each resident receives. My only concern relates to the ease with which it is possible to telephone my mother, often the phone is not left beside her either when she is in bed or when in her armchair.
My parents were able to share a double room whereas most nursing homes do not provide this facility. They were treated very kindly by everyone and nothing was too much trouble, even visitors were offered tea/coffee and cake on arrival. When dad passed away in September 2018 the staff would sit with mum and keep her company. Sadly mum passed away 2 months later. All the management and staff were very kind and compassionate to us all on both of our upsetting occasions.
