Lovely staff and residents Its a lot of hard work for staff but they are great Dad had a week here and improved his walking & well being overall
Mum has been at Bishopsmead for 4 years now. She has dementia. The care here is outstanding. The carers are kind & efficient. They are lovely with mum - and also with me, my husband and my sisters. I cannot rate Bishopsmead highly enough.
A very good experience, settled in very well. Staff and care/support excellent. Made friends with most of the residents. Food & drink excellent good value for the money.
My dad came to Bishopsmead Lodge originally on a temporary contract after my mum passed away as she was his carer. Within a couple of days I had asked for his contract to be made permanent as I knew my dad was in the perfect place for his forever home. The staff, including the management, are fantastic, everyone is so friendly and cannot do enough for the residents. There is always music playing and a lot of hustle and bustle which my dad loves and the food is always cooked fresh and he has something different every day. My dad came to Bishopsmead Lodge severely underweight and he is now eating 3 good meals a day and has colour in his cheeks and a smile on his face and more importantly is happy.
I am so glad we chose Bishopsmead Lodge when Mum's deteriorating mobility made it difficult for her to stay in her own house. I saw so much kindness and dedication to helping mum lead as fulfilling a time as possible. This seemed to be evident throughout the staff. Carers, nursing staff, administration, chefs, cleaners, maintenance, entertainments and laundry all showed complete commitment to the well-being of residents. Even as visitors we quickly made friends with staff, who started to feel like family. When choosing Bishopsmead Lodge, Mum and the family assumed our priorities would be Mum's comfort, safety and opportunities for her to join in activities, and in those respects we certainly made the right choice. But we all came to appreciate even more how staff were quick to note and act upon any change in mum's health, which gave us the greatest confidence of all. My sincere thanks and best wishes to everyone at Bishopsmead Lodge.
My experience of this care home is good. The staff were always ready to help and if there was a problem it was resolved quickly. The furnishings are a little tired and need replacing. Decoration needs to be looked at. Overall the home is well run and I would recommend it to others. The residents seem happy and the atmosphere is good.
It was a tough decision for my nan to move into a nursing home, my initial impression of Bishopmead Lodge was that it felt homely and welcoming. Nan was hesitant at first and took some time to settle in. She was fiercely independent, strong-willed, and sometimes difficult. However, with the dedication of the staff, who talked and encouraged her, she eventually settled in, made a few friends, and developed great relationships with all the staff. This included not just the nurses (who are all fantastic)), but also the new manager, cleaners, kitchen staff, maintenance personnel, and events coordinators. They all treated the residents with the respect and kindness they deserved. The home promotes activities for the residents and has a lovely little garden for them to enjoy. As her time came to an end, the staff were amazing, providing care to my nan and keeping her comfortable. Her last week was very challenging, but the staff supported both her and the family.
The staff at Bishopsmead have looked after Mum since she had a fall in April. They have been fantastic and have greatly assisted Mum in recovering both physically and mentally. The warm and welcoming environment created by the staff and team allowed Mum to feel "at home" and certainly gave me great peace of mind. I would thoroughly recommend Bishopsmead.
My mum has been in Bishopsmead Care Home since July/August 2024 we were not very happy with mums care, lots of problems that did not seem to get sorted, the manager sent two staff members upstairs to sort out the problems + they did things improved immensly. In February 2025, another staff member took over and manager, the home is improving on a daily basis, the staff are happier its a more relaxed atmosphere more professional, the nurse are now great, we feel my mum is receiving the care she needs and is being looked after very well. The care home how you would wish your mum was cared for. So thank you three staff members in particular for your hard work and kindness.
My dad passed away at the care home. During his brief illness, he was cared for and supported by caring staff. We know, as a family, Dad was in good hands, safe and respected. Everyone played a massive part in caring for him during his final couple of weeks. Care home staff work so hard. The job they do is a lifeline for so many families. We will be eternally grateful to Bishopsmead Lodge Care Home.
My husband, who has Parkinson's and dementia, went into Bishopsmead Lodge Care Home to give me a break. I checked out eight/ten other places but on visiting Bishopsmead, I immediately knew this was the right place. They were so friendly. The place was spotless. He was in a nicely decorated room with everything he wanted. He enjoyed his stay. Food, care, personal hygiene facilities were great. Nursing staff perfect. Highly recommend.
The care given to my family member was wonderful, very caring and compassionate. The care given to the family, the same. The support to us all was amazing. From the cleaning staff up to the managers, all amazing. Mum made them smile and they made mum smile and sing. They all made mum's funeral easier with their care and support.
My mum was only in the home for 2 weeks but the level of care she received was excellent, all of the staff involved with mum's care were second to none. One member of staff in particular I cannot thank enough for all she tried, to keep mum comfortable in her remaining few hours, the care and compassion she showed mum and to me was amazing which I will never forget.
The staff looked after Mum as if she was their Mum. They were caring, kind and patient. They were kind and helpful and looked after the family 100%.
Have nothing but exceptional things to say about Bishopsmead Lodge Care Home, my grandmother, my queen, is happy again, fulfilled and happy, thank God. Lovely staff through and through, from the management through to all the caring, lovely staff who work there. A+ residential home, full of love and reflects, wish them all the best always.
I am very grateful for the excellent care my father received at Bishopmead Lodge. Both management and staff were very good at caring for him and it's nice to know he was happy and well looked after in his last days.
Absolutely everyone at Bishopsmead Lodge have been wonderful. They have welcomed me into their community which has helped me so much to accept my limitations. Every aspect of our needs have been met and I will never forget their kindness and warmth, every single one of them.
I am satisfied Mum is looked after as well as expected, especially with her disabilities. The staff I encounter are very patient and nice towards her and she tells me that she is contented. It was her birthday today and I like the way her room was decorated and the carers made an effort to celebrate her day. I make as many visits as I can, together with my sister, and I'm sure Mum is happy here so keep up the good work.
Took my mum out of one home and placed her in here. I am so happy that I did. Mum is so well looked after by all the carers, the food is amazing - she, herself, is very happy here. The staff, from the manager, admin, cleaners, laundry, activities, cooks and all the carers are lovely. I leave and know Mum is in good hands.
