View Full Details of Alexander HouseMy 91 yr old Mother fractured a lumbar vertebrae & needed some respite after a hospital stay. Alexander House provided fantastic care and helped get her back on her feet again. The staff were very attentive, patient and very professional & nothing was too much trouble. She enjoyed the daily activities which improved her mental & social status significantly. The catering is first class & she thoroughly enjoyed her breakfast lunch & dinner. I pleased to say she is now back in her own home but we would have no hesitation in returning to Alexander House in the future if required.
We are extremely impressed with Alexander Care Home, Skircoat Green, Halifax (part of the Valorum Care Group). Mum has been a resident for many years, and we have complete peace of mind knowing she is cared for by the manager and her wonderful team. The care, home-cooked meals, and cleanliness are excellent. Recently, while we were away, Mum had a fall. The staff were outstanding - arranging swift medical care, keeping us fully updated, and ensuring her recovery was smooth and stress-free. The manager has created a warm, home-from-home atmosphere. The team are compassionate, professional, and a true credit to Valorum.
My wife has dementia & was somewhat lost & confused upon arrival at Alexander House, but within a couple of weeks she had settled down & was relaxed and cheerful thanks to the amazingly attentive, cheerful & friendly staff all of whom are incredibly professional at everything they do. The rooms are comfortable, well maintained, well ventilated, well furnished, clean & hygienic and all have an emergency call system. The food is tasty, plentiful and attractively served and professionally prepared on site by a suitably qualified cook with a wide choice for everyone each day, as well as welcome snacks also being made available between meals, (including welcoming coffee & biscuits for visitors whenever they arrive). Alexander House has a fully qualified Manager, "in post", and a Senior Member of Staff on duty at all times 24/7. They have an amazing Activities Manager who ensures that no-one is ever isolated, bored or lonely. This is a Team at the top of their Game doing an amazing job.
My mother-in-law was a bit unsettled when she first went to Alexander House but with the support and dedication of the carers soon started to enjoy being part of the family. Her bedroom was always clean and kept tidy and she always looked forward to her meals. There were always activities, painting, craftwork and dominoes to keep her busy. Sometimes they would have visits from outside venues, small animals for the residents to hold or just watch which made most days entertaining and fun. It certainly made our life a lot easier knowing she was being well cared for, so thank you everyone for doing such a great job.
My dad had a short stay at Alexandra House after a long stay in hospital. The care team were fabulous. He really enjoyed the food during his stay. My dad wanted to go home, and the staff supported him to be independent again. Great care great team.
My dad has dementia and was so confused when he first went into Alexander House, but after 6 weeks he had settled down and seems to enjoy it. The staff are amazing with him (he can be difficult at times). The food is great and also the snacks that they are always eating. I can't thank them enough, it makes me feel a lot better knowing he's in good hands. There's always things to do during the day, the ice cream van came the other week and also baby lambs came. The manager always has time for a chat, so a big thank you to everyone for looking after my dad.
My husband was taken to Alexander House temporarily after a fall, he struggled to walk without assistance mainly because of dementia. The facilities and staff were first class and each day there was a different activity to keep the residents active, sadly he had to leave as a permanent place became available at another care home, I would highly recommend Alexander House to anyone looking for a care home!
My dad initially went into Alexander House for 3 weeks of respite care whilst I was on holiday. On my return, Dad asked me if he could stay permanently as he felt much safer with 24-hour care. At home, he was very anxious about falling. This told me that in the initial 3 weeks, he was happy with the environment there. The staff are very friendly, they make everyone feel welcome and it is evident that the ethos is one of care and dignity. Sadly after another three weeks, my Dad fell very ill and he passed away at the home. I cannot praise the staff enough for the way they cared for him in this difficult time and also for the care and respect they showed to my family, nothing was too much trouble. Dad slipped away peacefully, he could not have been better looked after.
