My mum has been at Manor Lodge for 3 weeks now and already I notice a huge difference in her well being. She has more energy and absolutely loves the food! The staff are fantastic and are always on hand if mum needs anything, although she is fiercely independent she is giving into the assistance which is fabulous. I thought it would take a lot longer for mum to settle in but I think she is actually enjoying the attention she receives which is great to see.
We had noticed that my Mother was declining and she needed more help than I and my sister could provide. We booked a visit to Manor Lodge, met the Manager there and we assured by what we saw and heard that this was the right place for my Mother. From the start she received the care and attention that she needed and loves it there. The staff are all very helpful and my Mum really appreciates this and has built up relationships quickly. She seems to have a "new lease of life" there. We are very thankful for all that has been done for her.
My mum was admitted to hospital on Xmas Day. It was quickly apparent that, when discharged, she would need residential care and to satisfy a fiercely independent 94 year old, and her family, this needed to be special. Manor Lodge was first on my list and also became the last. From the initial meet and greet and the walk through of the facilities and accommodation, the professionalism and dedication of the staff was apparent. Unfortunately my mum's health deteriorated and the requirement changed from nursing to palliative care. Mum was in hospital for 7 weeks, throughout this time the management team were in regular contact with advice, guidance and support to help me through the vagaries of the NHS ICB and discharge bureaucracy. Mum did transfer, but for the shortest of times. In her final hours Mum, and my family, were granted respect and dignity from the nursing team that I am so grateful for. My heartfelt thanks to the Manor Lodge family for their kindness at a difficult time.
All the staff we have met so far are so supportive, caring, pleasant and helpful and can't do enough for my mum. I am secure in the knowledge that mum is in the best hands and is being cared for as she would have wished.
My father and I were very worried about putting my Aunt into a care home but once we had viewed Manor Lodge we felt confident that she would be happy there and cared for. All initial meetings with the Manager were friendly and any questions we had were answered and we went away feeling less anxious about the situation. Moving my aunt in went very smoothly and she was made to feel very welcome. She has appeared much happier since living there which has given us much needed peace of mind. Manor Lodge has plenty of activities for the residents with no obligation to join in. We would definitely recommend this care home.
Staff were brill. Very attentive and experienced. Food delicious and great choices. Safe and welcoming space for my mother. YouTubing the big lounge TV for elvis and manilow is a regular occurrence. Had two weeks respite there and visited mum regularly, she conversed and engaged more than for a long long time. Quite amazing really
My mother has been a resident of Manor Lodge for a year now and ever since the beginning we have been pleasantly surprised with the care that she has received both for her physical health as well as her mental health which is such a relief for the whole family because you hear of some horror stories elsewhere. They ensure activities are available for all levels of ability and involvement of the family is always considered. We sleep well knowing that they are doing their best for her.
My mother moved into Manor Lodge just 4 weeks ago and already we have noticed a significant improvement in both her physical and mental health. She is happier, less anxious and is enjoying eating again. She has settled in remarkably well, and has made friends with both other residents and staff. The staff are exceptional in the way they interact with my mother and other residents- they are so kind, respectful and responsive. Nothing is too much trouble. As relatives, we have also been looked after well and made to feel welcome. It is not an easy time when a loved one needs residential care, but the staff at Manor Lodge have been so helpful and supportive and have made it so much easier. I can now enjoy quality time with my mother again, knowing that she is safe, happy and well looked after.
This is an excellent home in all respects. There is generally enough staff available to meet all the resident's care needs, including medical staff, 24 hours a day. All rooms are en suite and maintained to a high standard. Family members are well supported and can visit at any time, staying overnight if they wish. I do not have much experience of other care homes, apart from visiting more distant relatives, but have not yet seen a better one. Manor Lodge benefits from being in a modern bespoke building and the staff respond accordingly.
It's the people that make all the difference and one of the staff has been a true lifesaver. From the moment that we came to see the home, through to settling in and getting used to her surroundings. This staff member is ready to listen, deals with anything that has been brought to her attention and remains kind and loving throughout. Thank you for your support, cheer, help and positivity. You make a hard experience lovely.
Our first visit to the home. I was struck by the overall welcome which was genuine in terms of the staffs attitude to their residents and their visitors alike. The decoration and quality of the food was excellent.
My mother-in-law was a resident at Manor Lodge, Chelmsford for over six years before sadly passing away in October 2024. Throughout that time, the level of care provided for her was beyond exceptional. I think back particularly, to the trying times of Covid and the staff did everything possible to ensure we had continued communication with them and visits wherever possible. Over the past eighteen months, my mother-in-law deteriorated with the progression of Parkinsons and Dementia - both very cruel illnesses and she was difficult to care for at times. The staff always had a smile and kind words for her, they had taken the time to get to really know her and understood when to cajole, when to be firm and when to be humorous. The staff were so friendly and helpful and incredibly sensitive - especially as we neared the end. Nothing was too much trouble. Communication was excellent and we were welcomed at any time. I cannot thank the staff enough for their kindness.
Manor Lodge has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Staff are friendly, helpful and professional and the level of care provided to my dad since his admission in October has been exceptional. His physical health is the best that it has been in a long time and despite the confusion caused by his dementia, he is settled and content. He has remarked himself on more than one occasion how well looked after he is and how lovely the staff are. Thank you to all the team at Manor Lodge for helping my dad to settle in so well in such a short space of time. A special mention to one of the staff who responded immediately to a request for my dad to have temporary access to a wheelchair to enable him to get outside. Small things like this really do make a big difference.
I recently moved my mum from another care home to Manor Lodge so I was concerned about what impact the move would have on her. I was able to move her belongings and set the room up before the move so that when she arrived she had familiar things to make her feel at home. The staff have been amazing throughout the whole process, kept me informed of everything and been very attentive to Mum. The rooms are very clean and spacious and Mum's room has French doors which overlook the garden. I like the central area which can be used when visiting with refreshments available so it feels like you are in a coffee shop and there is an outside seating area too. All in all the transition for mum has been smooth and mum has settled well and I'm so glad I decided to move her to Manor Lodge.
My mother has settled very well at Manor Lodge thanks to the kindness and amazing care she has received from the staff there. Everyone has been so helpful and I have had very good communication with staff which has reassured me that my mum is happy there. She has been relaxed and content during our visits and other visitors have remarked that she seems perkier!
Although my mother has only been with Manor Lodge since August, we have been made to feel very welcomed and all the staff have been very attentive to mums needs, however small they may seem. The nursing care is very holistic and nothing is too much trouble and all staff Seem to genuinely care about all the residents. It very much has a home-from-home feel and I would definitely recommend Manor Lodge. Well done and keep doing what you do. A very contented daughter who has peace of mind. Xx
Manor Lodge was one of many homes I saw, trying to place my uncle. It was a difficult decision, but Manor Lodge reflected the atmosphere and respect he got at home. It was an easy move, which totally surprised me after 89 years in his home. Manor Lodge suited him perfectly, having dementia and COPD but still enjoying chats and quite sociable, just not safe enough on his own. Baddow ward team have worked hard to integrate him and meet his needs, despite him being quite stubborn sometimes. I felt included in the crossover of his care and always felt listened to. My suggestions were valued and carried out. What I most like is everyone knows his back story, to engage him in conversations that he is interested in. I see him come alive when certain activities start especially at meal times. Amazing chef and team. Super lounge, garden and cake when visiting. He loves it and I was listened to carefully about foods he would like. He was barely eating at home but now enjoys all meals. This is a lovely home.
The staff were very quick to respond to a need for respite care at short notice. Mum was supported and well cared for at a difficult and confusing time for her by professional staff in nice surroundings. She was encouraged to engage in activities where she felt able and supported when she needed to withdraw more.
The Manor Lodge team were amazing when my mother-in-law came to stay for short-term respite when we went away on holiday. She said she particularly enjoyed the food, the attention to her needs and the general friendliness of all of the staff who helped care for her. As a family, we are immensely grateful to the Manor Lodge team and hope she will be able to return again next year.
My Mother stayed at Manor Lodge for 2 weeks, straight from hospital discharge following hip replacement surgery. Despite being 88, my mum is still extremely independent and happily lives on her own. I work full-time and was unable to give mum the level of care she needed following her operation, so she reluctantly agreed to a short stay in a care home. We needn't have worried! Mum looks back very fondly on her time at Manor Lodge. The staff are brilliant and the quality of care outstanding. The home appears to be extremely well led and organised; any concerns we had (which were few) were addressed immediately and effectively. Her ensuite room was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The food was excellent and my mum was able to enjoy a glass of red wine with every lunch and evening meal! My family always received a warm welcome from staff, and we knew that she was being extremely well looked after and making great progress following her surgery.
