My mum had been in Manor Lodge Care home, Danbury ward for over 2 years. Last week was my parents 60th wedding anniversary and unfortunately I was unable to visit on the day as I was on holiday. However, all the care staff especially Kat, went above and beyond to make the day special for them....
My mum had been in Manor Lodge Care home, Danbury ward for over 2 years. Last week was my parents 60th wedding anniversary and unfortunately I was unable to visit on the day as I was on holiday. However, all the care staff especially Kat, went above and beyond to make the day special for them. Decorations, presents and a wonderful cake. Kat had also told some of the other residents'partners about the anniversary so they were there to celebrate the occasion with them too.
The care mum receives is always outstanding but this was another level and I am so grateful.

I called into Manor Lodge to inquire about respite care for my mum. I thought I may have to book an appointment but I was instantly shown around and had a lovely chat with one of the care team. Mum is now a permanent resident and the entire process has been so smooth and efficient. Karla has been amazing. Giving support and guidance either by email or phone and was there on the day to welcome mum and myself into the home. The care team have been and are nothing short of fantastic. The care and attention they give to mum is wonderful to see. Nothing is too much trouble and you can see and feel they really care for their residents. Always welcoming with a smile and available for a chat when needed. Mum takes part in lots of activities and is very well looked after. I only looked at Manor Lodge because I knew as soon as I walked in that it would be right for mum.
Thank you Manor Lodge for making a very hard decision, that little bit easier.

The entire team at Manor Lodge could not have been kinder and any more attentive than they were - right through from liaising with the booking for respite care to the maintenance chaps and absolutely everyone on the team. Friends and family were always welcomed and there was a very happy vibe. Well done Manor Lodge for helping get my Mum back on the road to recovery in order to get home. If Mum ever needed permanent residential care, there really is no where else we would want to go.

My mum initially came to Manor Lodge for a 2 week respite stay but has since become a permanent resident. From our first visit, we were impressed by the welcoming atmosphere, cleanliness, and absence of any unpleasant smells. The staff were friendly and approachable, and the coffee and cake area for visitors is a lovely feature. Mum settled into her well-equipped room, which has more of a hotel feel than a traditional care home. Staff made every effort to introduce her to other residents and help her feel part of the community, joining in with the entertainment, which she enjoys. Mum has specific dietary requirements, and after discussing these with the team, her needs have been accommodated very well.
The carers are kind, caring, and professional. Nothing ever seems too much trouble, and it is clear they genuinely care about the residents' wellbeing. The manager, is friendly and knowledgeable about the care system which really helps as its new to us. So pleased we picked this home!

My Dad has been at Manor Lodge for 5 weeks now following a fall at home. My dad needed to have 24/7 monitoring as he kept forgetting his walking abilities were limited. Manor Lodge was the only care home that could provide this type of care. Everyone is very friendly from the initial show round until admission, as you know putting a loved one into care is not an easy decision, but from the care and professionalism of all the staff I made the right choice. Your kept up to date with any concerns and dad is monitored all the time. There is a range of activities, a hairdresser and chiropodist.
Dad also has pressure mats either side of the bed to alert staff, which are a good idea.

As a family they keep us all updated if there are any health concerns or any special requirements they feel that would help or benefit him, they share this with us. Laura was so helpful and informative when we first enquired about care for our father, and is always happy to answer any questions or concerns we may have.

I cannot speak highly enough of the care my mother receives at Manor Lodge. From the moment we walked through the doors we were welcomed with warmth and professionalism. I was concerned that the move from another care home would affect my mother adversely for a while but she settled in straight away. The staff are incredibly kind and compassionate, they made her feel safe and at home, it is a huge comfort to know my mother is in safe hands. The facilities are spotlessly clean, her room is bright and comfortable. There is a good choice of varied meals and the activities on offer have really helped my mother to socialize.
Communication with the team is excellent, I am always kept informed. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Manor Lodge to anyone seeking a safe and caring environment for their loved ones.

On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to give thanks to EVERYONE who provided my Mum with such outstanding love and care recently in the Nursing Unit. Although she only spent 5 days at Manor Lodge (have been transferred from Broomfields on a 'fast track' pathway, under the care of Farley Hospice) we could not have asked for a better experience. Everyone she / we met, treated her with kindness, dignity and made sure that she was comfortable (and pain free) in her final days - truly, we could not have asked for anything more.

My father spent the last month of his life at Manor Lodge Care Home. The care provided by the staff was truly wonderful - he could not have been in a better place, with kinder people, for his final days.
Every member of the team cared not only for my dad but also for us as a family. They made sure we were looked after, keeping us fed, bringing us cups of tea, providing a bed so we could stay with him, and gently checking in on us while we sat by his side.His final goodbye from the care home was incredibly touching and meant so much to us. All the staff who were able to stood in respect as we left the building, forming a guard of honour. It was such a thoughtful and moving gesture.We cannot thank the team at Manor Lodge Care Home enough for the compassion, dignity, and kindness they showed to our dad and to our whole family. It meant more to us than words can express.

Manor Lodge is far superior to other homes in Chelmsford that I know of, and I would recommend it without question.

We cannot praise Manor Lodge Care Home highly enough. Every member of staff was truly wonderful. The exceptional care provided gave us and our mother ten precious weeks together that we never expected to have. Mum's room was spacious and felt very much like a home from home. She especially enjoyed looking out at the trees and watching her favourite programmes on the large-screen television, which was a real comfort to her. Throughout her final days, our mother was treated with the utmost care, compassion, and dignity, allowing her to have the peaceful passing she wished for. The staff not only cared for Mum but also supported us as a family, keeping us fully informed at every stage, welcoming us to stay as long as we wanted, and thoughtfully providing coffee and cake throughout the day.
Manor Lodge Care Home truly provides outstanding care. Their CQC rating of Outstanding is thoroughly deserved and is evident from the moment you walk through the doors.

After many weeks in hospital my mum who is 88 years old made the decision she could no longer live alone as she required 24 hour care and wanted to be looked after. I did some research in our area for a care home that had good reviews and rating. We found Manor Lodge and went to have a look around and really liked it. After being discharged from hospital the decision was made for my mum to go to Manor Lodge and I contacted Karla who made the procedure so easy without any stress. My mum has now been at Manor Lodge since the start of December 2025 and is now starting to relax and enjoy being part of this lovely care home as a permanent resident. The staff have been so welcoming, helpful and caring which has helped massively with this difficult decision/move we have had to make and is reassuring mum is being cared for so well. The care she has is excellent and that she has carers 24 hours a day if required. Thank you so much to Karla and all the staff for looking after my mum.

On top of Christmas I had a massive challenge of finding respite for my Mum. Fortunately I had a connection with Care UK in Newbury as my Aunty is in the dementia suite. It's been really hard not to compare homes.
Emotionally I have been supported remarkably as it was a hard decision & a massive thing for Mum to go into respite.
We extended Mum's respite care from 2 to 3 weeks which was a massive step for Mum showing how comfortable & content she was in care.
On admission there were a few hiccups with the room & paperwork however immediately these were addressed & an apology was accepted.
My Mum is a very quiet & private person however I can't tell you how your wonderful staff have cared & supported her. They have managed her anxiety and it's lovely to see the close relationships formed between them. Mum's even had her hair done!
I have no hesitation than to recommend Manor Lodge. Mum will need respite possibly permanent care in the future & Manor Lodge will be our go to.

My Mother was due to have hip repair surgery but complications arose when it was identified that she had a serious infection around the hip area. This necessitated a c9 week stay in hospital and the hip repair could not be fully completed, leaving her unable to weight bear when standing. We quickly identified that she would need respite care when released and Manor Lodge came strongly recommended. My Sister, wife and I visited Karla at the Home and she gave us a guided tour and answered our many questions. When released from hospital the Care Home team went out of their way to accommodate our Mother, despite only having 24 hours notice, for which we cannot thank them enough. Subsequent visits confirm that our Mother is very well looked after. Her room has recently been refurbished and she appears to want for nothing and all of the staff are very friendly and helpful. A highly recommended Care Home.

Hi, I'm Natasha Webster, the Home Manager at Manor Lodge.
I am a qualified Registered Nurse and have completed the Future Home Manager training with Care UK. I previously worked as Deputy Manager at Manor Lodge and, before joining Care UK six years ago, I was a Clinical Nurse Specialist at a local hospice in Surrey. After supporting a Care UK home as a CNS, I was inspired by the happy atmosphere and compassionate team, which led me to apply for a Clinical Nurse Manager role.
A care home manager should be compassionate and values-driven, promoting dignity, safety and person-centred care. Strong leadership, emotional intelligence, and sound clinical and governance knowledge are essential to ensure high standards and support both residents and staff.
My favourite part of the day is walking around the home, seeing residents and staff happy, and watching meaningful moments and achievements unfold.
Outside of work, my family and I enjoy WWII re-enactment weekends, 1940s swing jive dancing with my daughter, and I also enjoy crochet and knitting.
My biggest career highlight has been becoming a Home Manager. I’m proud of the difference we make in residents’ lives each day and supporting staff to grow. The most important part of my role is ensuring residents are happy and safe, and that staff feel supported to develop and progress.
