Manor Lodge is a modern and welcoming care home in Chelmsford that delivers permanent and respite nursing, residential and dementia care.

The purpose-built home has fantastic facilities, including a café, cinema, hair salon and a little shop. It also has an in-house physiotherapy room. Through a combination of nursing care and support from a physiotherapist, the team has supported many residents in regaining their mobility and independence, improving their quality of life.

The team takes the time to get to know each resident well so they can create personalised care and lifestyle plans that are tailored to their needs and preferences. They also support residents to enjoy meaningful activities and experiences every day.

an agreed hourly charge for this service.

We just wanted to say how very grateful we are for the care and compassion that the staff at Manor Lodge showed to our mum, and us, throughout her years there and particularly in her last few days of end-of-life care.
From the day that Mum moved in we knew that she would receive the best care possible
and despite her advancing dementia, she still enjoyed all of the activities and developed a genuine friendship with her carers, as did we.
The staff were incredibly supportive during Mum's last few days and treated her with dignity and love. They bent over backward to help us provide Mum with a peaceful end and took all of the stress away from a difficult few days. Their care was genuinely heartwarming and beautiful. We can honestly say that we saw the best of humanity in action. The managers should be very proud of all of their staff.
We will miss the friends that we made there and the delicious cakes that were always on offer!

All staff are friendly and helpful and they always acknowledge my Mother when we are walking about the home, using her name to say hello. We are listened to by the carers and the management team and problems are resolved. We are kept informed of any changes or incidences concerning my Mother and every
effort is made to maintain her cleanliness. The activities are varied and the staff seem to join in with great enthusiasm encouraging participation whenever possible. Seeing photos on social media is great. It would be nice to see more home comforts or familiar objects in the day room and the communal ‘café’ areas so that it looks less like a care home and more like a home/hotel. However, I realize this could be tricky in some areas.

My mum spent from December until February 2024. Her time there was good. She was well cared for and felt loved, all the staff were so kind and lovely. In particular the staff on Roxwell ward, they went over and above to make her comfortable. Mum felt safe with them and they cared for her in a way that
I would have expected. Mum was in their care until the day she passed away. Thank you Manor Lodge for making my mum's last few weeks the best that anyone could have done.

My dad moved into Manor Lodge in January, as his dementia condition was making it very difficult to manage independently. We were concerned about how he would settle in but he has now been there just over a month and is doing very well. He particularly enjoys the company of other residents in the lounge
and enjoys sharing meals with them in the dining room. He also enjoys the daily activities on offer, which include skittles, painting and watching a film in their own cinema room!
When we visit there is always a member of staff on hand if we have any queries, and they are all friendly, kind and attentive. We would definitely recommend Manor Lodge.

We booked our uncle in for respite care after a fall and hip replacement. He has other complex needs that require monitored medication and diet. Staff have been kind, respectful and attentive and have sought additional medical support when required. Communication between Manor Lodge and our family has
been faultless. Overall the service is excellent, it is a great relief to know that our uncle is in a safe, supportive and well-managed environment.

My uncle moved in just before Christmas and I have found the staff very kind and caring. The facilities are very good and he is being very well looked after.

My father has been in Manor Lodge since the 11th of December. We had to arrange his stay as I had a medical procedure booked that will involve a six to eight week recovery. From the initial phone call that I made to Manor Lodge, I have found the management and staff to be very professional people, but
they have a very caring and courteous way of dealing with their clients and their families. I can honestly say that every member of staff have been wonderful to my father and to me, and whatever I have requested for him has been carried out quickly and courteously. The staff treat my father kindly and politely and nothing is too much trouble for them. Obviously I had concerns about my father going to a home, but I need not have worried, I am delighted with every aspect of my father's care. He has not yet started to get involved with the many and various daily activities, but every day the staff try to encourage him. I cannot speak highly enough of Manor Lodge, I know that my father is safe and cared for.

My mother was a resident for a month for respite care. She was made to feel very welcome as were all her visitors. The staff to residents ratio is excellent and all the staff were friendly and helpful. She was encouraged to join in all the activities and to socialise with everyone. Her room was of a

The home appears bright and clean and purposeful and recently built. Staff are plentiful, caring and helpful. Rooms are small but contain their own en-suite. There appear to be plenty of activities for residents. Relatives can come and go as they please. There are plenty of coffee and cake places. Staff
are all cheerful and appear to learn the Christian names of new residents very quickly.

A truly welcoming care home. From the moment one enters, one is met by warmth. It is light and spacious. All the staff are caring and receptive to any requests, either from residents or relatives. I speak from the experience of two years visiting my father, and I know that he is loved and well cared

My dad became a resident at Manor Lodge in April 2023, he was in a very weakened state. Dad had reservations about entering the care environment but after one day said to me "I love it here and I don't want to go home". Manor Lodge gave Dad the comfort of always feeling safe, knowing help was on hand
24/7. He loved the staff who were, without exception, kind to him and I witnessed the gentleness of staff to residents when they did not know they were being observed.
As Dad's family, I had 100% peace of mind that he was being looked after.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Manor Lodge, I feel the staff became friends both to my dad and my family.
It's scary to place a loved one in care but if you choose Manor Lodge don't even consider they won't be cared for well, they will be.

My mother was a resident in Manor Lodge seven years ago. Now my 102 year old aunt is a resident - some staff still working there from seven years ago!
Excellent care from the staff.
Lots of activities and interaction from the activity staff (2 of which were working when Mum was a resident).

Job Title: Home Manager

I joined Care UK and Manor Lodge because Care UK has an excellent reputation nationwide, and I love the way they promote personal and professional growth of colleagues. Care UK’s values align with my personal values, I love leading my team to work cohesively and help develop them to deliver outstanding and person-centred care.


As a Home manager, I believe it’s important to be honest, have integrity, empathy and being able to self-reflect and use every opportunity to learn, improve and develop. It’s also important to have great communication and listening skills and be a team player. Since being with Care UK my proudest achievement has been retaining our Outstanding quality rating, critiqued by the Care Quality Commission, with the inspector quoting “We found a care home with a strong commitment to delivering person-centred care that often exceeds the needs of the people they support.”


My favourite part of my working day is getting to chat to the residents, relatives, and colleagues; it’s great to see how well colleagues are doing and get great feedback of our home.


In my free time I enjoy being a mum and looking after my cat and dog. I love to cook for my family and friends, watch my son play football on the weekend and spend time with my family. I love visiting all my family back in Poland and I’d never say no to a cheesy rom com!
