View Full Details of Delamer HouseMy time in Delamer House was very pleasant. The staff were very good and pleasant. The food and activities were very good.
Home has always treated my mother with care and dignity. I am very happy with the care home.
My mum was moved here from another care home (since closed) and I noticed the difference between the two immediately. Friendlier, more experienced and caring staff. Mum actually rallied will in here. The staff were very caring and informed me of every thing going on at no time was she left in her bed without being checked on often (she broke her hip at previous care home and never walked again). She seemed happy and well looked after at all times, enjoyed the food and cups of tea. I cannot fault this home in any way.
Always found the staff and management very efficient and friendly, and mum seems happy and settled when I visit. The manager is always approachable and is keen that even the smallest detail is correct.
The person seems to be very happy and well looked after.
The care team have gone above and beyond in making my dad comfortable and welcome. His room is a good size and bright with a full-depth window. All the meals are prepared on-site, and Dad generally eats the lot, including the dessert (his favourite!). Activities he enjoys too, including bingo etc. I would recommend anyone to Delamer
Overall I would day this home is pretty good. I've certainly nothing to complain about.
As my husband is a resident at the home. I have been visiting twice weekly. The staff are always pleasant. Helpful, nothing seems to be much trouble. When my husband was taken ill they went absolutely above and beyond their normal duties. They were so professional, calm and kept me informed.
My mother went to live at Delamer on 14th February 2025. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They will assist my mum and our family when it is needed with no hesitation. I cannot thank the staff and the manager for their understanding and patience during the settling in time with my mum. It has been and still can be very upsetting for my mum and the family.
My mother, came to Delamer, at the start of 2020, as Covid-19 was just starting, though she never caught it she had dementia and UTI. She was deteriorating. After inital problems she improved, began to socialise, and did well. Dementia progressed and she is difficult! The staff have been very good, the food and medical services, care and everything good. Now at 96 she is very frail, but with an awkward iron will. When UTI is controlled she is more content, but when it recurs she is very difficult but is handled well by the efforts. She speaks well of staff, food etc but in another breath is paranoid about missing items no one likes her etc.
I have to thank the staff at Delamer House for their prompt and caring actions when my brother was recently taken ill. The staff kept me updated and ensured he was taken promptly to hospital. On his return he extra convalescent care was given to ensure full recovery. I find that all service users are treated as individuals and with dignity and love. Delamer House is like a family, so welcoming and supportive. Staff always put the service users needs first.
After living at Delamer House for 3 years, I can only say that I am very happy. The staff are all very friendly. The carers are all excellent, they do all they can to look after us cheerfully.
My mother came to Delamer from hospital early January . She was incredibly frail and was very low in mood . As my father had been a resident at Delamer until his passing in September 23 , it was the natural and only choice of where mum would go. On arrival all the staff made a huge fuss of her and welcomed her . Her room had been got ready including putting up some pictures on the wall of her late husband . It really was like home from Home for her . 3 months in she is a different person , she is so happy there. She loves all the activities and has come alive . I can't put into words the gratititude we have to them.
My mum spent four months at Delamer House before passing away, and while this time was undoubtedly difficult for our family, the care she received was exceptional. The staff were consistently kind, compassionate, and professional. They went out of their way to ensure mum was comfortable, supported, and treated with dignity in her final months. Despite her declining health in her final days, she was still given well-cooked, nourishing meals, which helped her put on some weight, even though she struggled to eat. The home itself was clean, well-maintained, and welcoming, offering a calm and peaceful environment. Though the circumstances of her stay were heartbreaking, we truly appreciated the attentive care and warmth that the team provided. It gave us peace of mind knowing she was in good hands. Thank you to everyone at Delamer House for all you did during this challenging time.
I was given the freedom to "do my own thing ". The level of care, compassion and companionship was amazing. The level of support I witnessed being offered to others was carried out in a compassionate, professional and respectful manner. The food was plentiful, varied and delicious.
I spent two pleasant weeks plus two days at Delamer House whilst my family were on holiday. The room on the first floor was freshly decorated, new furniture with a lockable drawer installed, and the requested electric bed. In addition a footstall and a deep cushion for the winged arm chair. The staff are friendly and helped me all the time. I enjoyed being accompanied on walks to the nearby cliff top, where one would sit and enjoy sea views. The delicious meals were well cooked, including fresh vegetables. Menus were varied with home cooked desserts and cakes at supper time. Although, toilet flush needed constant maintenance, seat low and required raised addition, and water topped in basin, so glad of assisted bath and showers.
Mother-in-law (100 next birthday) has been in Delamer House for 18 months. The manager and staff are brilliant and know her well and make sure her needs are met, as she has dementia and is unable to ask for what she needs. The activities are fun and stimulating and meals are excellent. Every time we visit we are made very welcome and feel a part of the lovely Delamer family. We also get updates via social media regarding activities for day to day.
I have found the care and support my husband is receiving at this recent time to be very good.
It was a shock when we realised we could not care for Dad at home. The staff have been reassuring and kind to my mother who regularly visits. My feeling is they have gone above and beyond given Dad's high care needs. The position of the home is great, the bus stop is right outside. It's a quiet location close to the sea. We are really grateful for this provision. Delamer House has gone a long way in caring for Dad when we could not put this in place at home. The staff are consistent and such an asset! Thank you so much.
My mum has been at Delamer House since February 2022. And we have found the care to be great. She is treated really well and is always treated with dignity. She can’t walk and has dementia but they get Mum up and dressed everyday, which is so much better than when she was having care at home. She has a room that she really likes and is always clean. The home is clean and never smells. I’m struggling to think of a constructive criticism. This is a personal thing in that I wish sometimes maybe some visits with animals might be provided. This won’t be for everyone but sometimes when people have conditions that people suffer with in care homes just to see or touch a nice animal like an alpaca or even a Labrador dog can really make people feel good. One bone of contention would be costs, but that isn’t restricted to Delamer, it is the whole care system that's loaded against us and results in high costs. Overall Delamer has a nice family type feel about it and the staff and management are great.
