View Full Details of Prince Edward Duke of Kent CourtI was welcomed with respect as soon as I arrived. The room I had overlooked the garden and I was able to see and listen to the dawn chorus. The staff who looked after me 24/7 were excellent and did everything for me when I approached them. When I thanked them their response was ' that is what we are here for 'I could not have been better looked after. The food to my mind was superb. The staff in the dining room were very accommodating and the Managerial staff were outstanding in every way.
Staff were very good and very patient. Overall, my stay was satisfactory with supportive staff. The room was adequate but the bed was very uncomfortable. Having been told to press the buzzer if I wanted or needed anything, it sometimes took over half an hour for a response and on occasion not at all. It was very frustrating and annoying at not having my clothing returned to me from the laundry and sometimes being given other residents' clothing. I left the home with some of my clothing not returned to me. I was particularly upset at the loss of my drinking glass which I and my daughters asked about on several occasions. It was a birthday gift to me on my 90th birthday. The food was inadequate. It was poor quality and seemed to be at the cheaper end of the scale. The building and its grounds were beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the wildlife from the window.
From initial contact through the home visit prior to a taster experience and subsequent admission, all staff were extremely helpful understanding caring and kind in all respects. Helping a frustrated family help a frightened elderly lady with dementia from an intolerable existence with home care into a residential care facility. Every step was taken with understanding and consideration of the individuals fears and reticence to a happy conclusion and cheerful acceptance of a difficult transition from home to residential care. Without the help experience and kindness of the staff this could have been a very traumatic and brutal change. Gentle encouragement made this journey stress free for both family and potential resident. We have nothing but praise and gratitude for all involved at PEDOKC
My mother lived with my family for two after the death of my father who was her main carer . She was bed bound and needed carers four times a day After a hard decision we placed mum in the care of The Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court Care Home . Mum loved it there and I could change from carer back to daughter again . The staff were amazing ,they treated my mum with respect and kindness on every level . And supported all my family during our visits .Mum began to deteriorate during her last few months and all the staff were wonderful . They informed me every time doctors ,nurses, paramedics were called out . Mum has a peace plan put together and when the time was right mum passed away quietly at the home . The staff were all amazing and treated mum with dignity They had not only become mums carers but also her friends .
This was the third time that my husband had been a resident in Stisted Hall. He is always made very comfortable and always very welcomed on his return visits. The staff are always very helpful, kind and accommodating. I needed a break from looking after my husband and went away for a very short break, I found other local Care homes (Southend on Sea area) not very accommodating a minimum of 2 weeks for respite! Made a phone call to Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court, who were very welcoming, helpful and sympathetic and took a great weight off of my shoulders. The rooms are nicely decorated, comfortable and kept clean. The dining room is large and airy and the food is very well presented. I would have no hesitation in recommending this Care Home.
The facilities are excellent, ideal for my mother, with a very comfortable room and a lovely garden for her to enjoy during the day. The staff have all been very welcoming and helpful from our first meeting through to helping my mother settle into her new surroundings. The staff are always very supportive and cheerful and make our family feel very welcome when we visit. Thank you.
Unfortunately my uncle only spent a month at Prince Edward, and half of that was spent in hospital! The staff went above and beyond in their care for him and we all wish he could have spent his final days with them, but as he now needs nursing, the home is unsuitable for his needs. Thank you all for your care and support.
Recently made a visit to this care home. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff who went out of their way to help and the care given was superb. The building was very clean, and everyone was very welcoming.
Since being there, I have seen a good improvement in her self-confidence. Individual care is excellent with a person-centred approach. Staff are welcoming and supportive, and the social interaction is great. The staff concert at Christmas was delightful and engaged everyone. It’s just like one big family home with joy, tears, friendship and support. Staff listen to any concerns and always let you know the outcome.
The care workers were of a very high standard indeed, and nothing seemed to be to trouble. I had placed myself into the home for respite care following breaking my leg as I thought returning home, even with four carers a day, was not an option. I live alone. The care home was nice, clean and bright. I joined in some of the activities, especially Choir Practice, for which I played the piano (I am a church Organist). I have two Critisms (a) I would have liked to receive my communion, but there did not seem to be a mechanism for this to happen. My own Vicar lives in Chingford. (b) The second is very serious in that the food on offer was nothing like what is said in the brochure and the standard was more like school dinners and for the money I was paying each week was not really value for money. I am not going to state any examples, as I discussed with the catering manager.
My aunt was cared for with kindness, affection and efficiency by all members of staff since both she and her husband were admitted nine years ago. They were both very happy there, which contributed to them living to the great age of 102 and 104 years. I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone.
My wife is generally well looked after, is happy and very comfortable at Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court. I believe the staff do their utmost to care for the residents and encourage them to participate in the day-to-day activities. Overall I am very pleased with the standard of care at Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court.
My wife has been a resident for over 3 years now and during that period has been looked after with care and kindness. She is always saying to me how happy she is living at the care home. I know from my visiting experience that the management and staff do their best to ensure my wife is cared for with a high level of professionalism. This high standard is even more noticeable considering the periods of lockdown due to Covid-19. I have full confidence in the home's ability to look after my wife to the same degree in the foreseeable future.
Since being here I've been looked after well. This is my fourth respite care. Couldnt ask for better out of all the places I have been. 10 out of 10.
Mother is well looked after. She appreciates the effort made by all members of staff. She feels safe and secure.
My husband was in respite for 2 weeks and I was very impressed by everything I saw. Everything was clean and welcoming. The staff right from management were extremely kind and caring which was a comfort to me as it was the first time my husband and I had been apart for 59 years. Management or staff were always happy to talk to me about my worries and the rest of the staff also talked to me if I needed it. They were so kind and caring with my husband which was lovely to see. I'd recommend this establishment to anyone with a loved one that needs care. They are top of my list. Thank you to all staff.
My mother has been at Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court for a year now and I have nothing but praise for the staff here and the care they provide for the residents. The residents live in a wonderful environment where they have the benefit of regular entertainment and activities, not to mention delicious food! I particularly love the fact that our dogs are welcomed into the home, as so many of the residents are animal lovers and are always so pleased to see them. My mother celebrated her ninety-ninth birthday recently and was presented with a beautiful birthday cake and present from the staff. I couldn't wish for my mother to be in a better place!
The permanent staff are very good but they are few. The home seems to have been relying heavily on agency.
We were desperate, mum had gone into a home but not worked out Prince Edward Duke of Kent been the first choice went with second choice as close for visits. Understanding Deputy Manager arranged quick assessment and asked mum's needs to make her happy with no distress to mum. Next day spoke to the Relationship Manager, started the admission and had moving date within a few days. Change worries mum so said we're going for a drive then to a new room looking over the garden. Went smoothly, and mum happily viewed room. Invited for tea in the garden, mum loved it. Two carers made mum welcome, we were able to prepare the room. Mum introduced to other residents then to the dining room, care taken to seat with a lady known to like a chat. Mum was not upset when we left, and seemed happy, seemed to have a calming effect. That was Tuesday thought would leave a few days to adjust, invited to call anytime, and given positive news when we have. Mum thinks she is too shy to make friends, told she's made some already. Thank you to everyone that helped it go smoothly.
I have been really pleased with how well my mum has settled into the care home since she was admitted in March 2022 after what was a horrendous six months for her, prior to that, both at her home and in various hospitals. She feels safe, loved and looked after by everyone there. The team are so thoughtful, compassionate and attentive. Mum says the food is amazing and she especially likes the roast every Sunday! With her own chair, pictures and ornaments, Mum says her room feels like home and she has help and support on hand 24/7. That also gives me peace of mind that she is in very safe hands. It has certainly exceeded my expectations.
