View Full Details of Chevington LodgeChoosing a care home for a much-loved relative is daunting and worrying. When my mum needed extra care that we couldn't provide at home, we were recommended Chevington Lodge. Wow, we couldn't be happier with the quality of care and love shown to mum during her seven-month stay. She was made to feel special and, when in hospital for a short while, she asked us when she'd be going "home". She was happy there and always looked clean, dignified and thoughtfully dressed. The home itself is spotless, comfortable and well-maintained, and the staff were so attentive and helpful, not only to mum, but to us too. Whatever time we turned up, it was no trouble, and we were always offered a drink and biscuits. Birthdays are treated as special days, with balloons and banners, and cake shared around. All levels of staff are caring and professional and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Chevington Lodge to anybody looking for a care home for somebody they love, but can no longer manage to care for.
Our Mother has been a resident at Chevington Lodge for over 4 years. Her care has been beyond expectations. So well cared for and the staff are amazing. They work hard and are so friendly and caring. We can't thank everyone enough. Thank you for such a wonderful service Chevington Lodge has given our Mother. Highly recommend.
Whenever we visited over the 8 years that our friend lived in Chevington Lodge the staff were always friendly and helpful to us and our friend. It is a happy place and all the special needs that our friend had were catered for. The care and dignity adored her at all times and especially in her last months was exemplary. Our friend was so happy there and enjoyed all the activities that took place. She would say that she was living the life of a lady.
It's the manager, her staff, and the owners who make Chevington Lodge the place, I would like to be a resident if I were in the position of needing such care. My friend celebrated her 100th birthday in January and passed away in her sleep only a few weeks later after making Chevington Lodge her home for the last 8 years. 8 Years of happiness, her own bed-sitting room, good food, varied activities, celebrations, and being independent when choosing what to wear, what to do, and visitors popping in at any time or day of the week. My friend's next of kin lived in America so there were few family visits, but that didn't worry her as the staff became her family. To sum up, I think it says it all when my friend would frequently say 'I'm living the life of a lady, please don't move me from here into an old people's care home'.
I find that the staff and management all have a good happy relationship with each other and the residents. The manager is efficient and friendly, which makes for a good atmosphere. My mother feels that she is treated with understanding and empathy. I have no adverse comments to make.
I am so relieved that my mum has the warm and compassionate care given by Chevington Lodge. The home is managed as a family home. The residents are treated with dignity and respect. They are encouraged to give their views regarding choices and decisions relating to their well-being. My mum has various care needs and has been extremely well supported by the exceptional staff. They really do love their residents like family. Mum has lived at Chevington for 8 months and it has been nothing short of a godsend. She feels nurtured, tells me she is happy and has made several friends too. Whenever I have had a query the staff always make time to explain things to me. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. I feel that she is safe here and that means the world to us as a family. I wanted to furnish and decorate Mum's room with various items from her own bungalow and Chevington actively encouraged this, even providing their maintenance team to help with the heavier tasks and picture hanging.
From the day my mum became a resident in Chevington Lodge Care Home until the day she died, she was treated with care and kindness. She classed it as her home and the staff respected her dignity at all times. She had a lovely relationship with the staff and enjoyed her chats. The food was excellent, good choices and the gardens were kept well and accessible. She loved the activities.
This is a review from outside but based upon observation and feedback from the person for whom I hold power of attorney. At Chevington Lodge Care Home for respite purposes, albeit longer term than expected, there has been an obvious and very welcome improvement in all aspects of health and welfare. For example, now takes medication, allows herself to be helped with personal care, will go to bed, and, happily, chats and is friendly towards other residents. Domestic arrangements appear excellent, food looks appetising and, without doubt, the areas I have seen are warm and comfortable. Staff are welcoming and are seen to have a good rapport with residents. My dependent speaks well of her contact with her admirable carers and is happy to reside for a longer period. This alone is a good testimonial.
Chevington Lodge is a lovely care home in the pretty town of Bungay. Both my mother-in-law and father-in-law stayed there, Mum for two and a half years and Dad for two months. They were very happy enjoying the comfortable surroundings and friendly staff. My husband and I can't thank the manager and her team enough for all their support and kindness, having to place Mum into a care home, in the middle of lockdown when we were unable to go and view any care homes to get a feel of them, was incredibly hard but the manager was so helpful and patient that choosing Chevington was an easy decision. The whole team made us feel so supported as a family and their kindness when Dad died was second to none. We can never thank them enough for all they did to care for both Mum and Dad.
I can't rate Chevington Lodge Care Home highly enough. The care my mum received as a resident was second to none. The manager and her team are excellent, loving and caring and all the residents are very well looked after. There are weekly activities that the residents can take part in if they wish and a lovely garden to sit in. There is a hairdresser who comes in weekly if they would like to pay to have their hair done. The accommodation itself is very clean and tidy and the room Mum had was very pleasant. Overall, Chevington Lodge is a happy and safe place to live.
I can't praise Chevington Lodge Care Home highly enough. My dad has been with them for just over two years and the staff have been absolutely consistent in both caring compassionately for him and in keeping me informed of everything necessary. The manager has a wonderful mix of humour, practicality and sensitivity; and my encounters with the many staff members I've spoken to over this time have been consistently pleasant, professional and compassionate. When I've visited Dad - or video-called or remote-visited - he has always been clean, kempt and in as good health as possible. In recent days my father has deteriorated rapidly and I have been in almost daily contact with the staff who are not only helping my dad with his condition but dealing with his (increasingly) challenging behaviour and also being incredibly kind to me. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Chevington Lodge to anyone looking for a home for their relative.
We could not have asked for better or more understanding care for my grandfather. As a former social care professional, I was constantly impressed with the high standard of professionalism and training shown by all staff. My grandfather was looked after in a sensitive and understanding manner by a very dedicated team of people who made his last days as comfortable as possible. He entered the home with several unsuspected issues regarding medication; and these were dealt with immediately until a Covid overstretched nurse could attend. Grandad referred to staff members as 'real experts' in providing for his needs. He felt safe and secure in his room. Staff showed extreme tact and sensitivity when Grandad died. I doubt that I shall ever forget their kindness. I would recommend Chevington Lodge Care Home as a safe and caring environment.
Words cannot express how grateful I am for the care that my nan received in the time she was in Chevington Lodge Care Home. Staff were always very diligent in looking after my nan's needs and providing activities for her. They really took time in getting to know her and tailoring the activities to her interests, such as giving her word puzzles, which she loved. Though sadly she passed the early hours of the morning before it happened, I was particularly touched that they had organised for a local Methodist priest to come to see and talk with her. (She was a very active member of the church). They always kept us very well informed of what was going on at each stage. I was also particularly grateful to be given the opportunity to talk to her on the phone the night before she passed. While she was unable to answer back, it was invaluable for me to be able to say my goodbyes knowing it wouldn't be long before she passed. Thank you so much to all the staff!
Mum was a resident at Chevington for about 17 months, suffering with Alzheimer's and Dementia. Throughout all this time the staff treated her very well, affording her as much dignity as they could, and with the utmost kindness. We will be forever grateful for the level of care they provided at all times, not just the basics, but going above and beyond, especially in the final days. They were very good with communication, both in keeping us informed with Mum's condition and in helping us to communicate directly to her. There has never been a point where we were concerned for her wellbeing, as I knew she was in the best possible place for her. They supported her, and us, through the most difficult times, and made life for us all much easier than it could have been. We send each and every one of the staff a massive thank you.
My mum has been a resident at Chevington for several years, arriving there once she could no longer be cared for at home. She has gradually declined since. Every moment, Chevington has lavished her with the most wonderful care in a comfortable environment. The level of help mum has needed has increased as her mobility and memory have declined and sometimes she has become quite difficult. Nevertheless, the staff are incredibly kind and patient with her and, despite the challenges, there is always much laughter. Chevington has fared well during Covid because of strict safety protocols yet at the same time, it has gone overboard to help residents communicate with their loved ones. I have been given tea while blowing kisses to Mum through the window from outside and sent WhatsApp recordings and photos by the staff when visiting Mum was difficult or impossible. If you have an older loved one who needs to be cared for in a supportive and loving environment then this is the place to go!
This has been my mum's home for nearly five years. She is able to live well with dementia and this is because Chevington Lodge knows how to provide for those living with the disease; to such an extent that she enjoys rare peace and contentment. Staff enjoy having her, I am sure, and respond to her generally happy mood. They have been able to keep her safe during these Covid times. I would think that for months on end, staff were extremely fearful of bringing Covid into the home. Chevington have kindly made possible my twice-a-week contacts with Mum via Skype over the past sixteen months. More recently, they have provided a visiting pod and now indoor visits. The manager runs a very tight ship, making excellent recruitment choices, I think, and dispensing highly effective staff training, I would say. As a result, the staff mean it: they are all genuinely kind and caring. The manager thanks me for visiting Mum; this shows me how seriously Chevington take their responsibilities.
Our friend entered Chevington Lodge about seven years ago, only being given a few days to live. She is still there and that says it all. She loves it and is being extremely well cared for and going from strength to strength. Every time we visit she has a big smile on her face and looks immaculate. Very well done to the manager and all her staff for everything they do to ensure residents are well and happy, especially during these difficult times. Huge thank you to you all.
My dad has been here at Chevington Lodge since March 2020, it has been hard not being able to see him when the coronavirus hit but the staff at the home kept us well informed of how Dad was. They have done an amazing job introducing the pod and, when allowed, the garden visits. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. It feels like a lovely family environment. The patients' welfare is also top of their list. The home and its garden are so well looked after and clean and tidy. Thank you so much for everything they do for our dad, it means so much to know he is happy and well looked after. Thank you.
I have used the services of Chevington Lodge over a period of many years on a personal level for various members of my family (currently a much-loved aunt) and professionally for clients and am always amazed at their skills in handling issues relating to dementia behaviour. The staff are extremely proficient and well trained and I know that I can trust them to look after my aunt as she would wish if she were able to make that decision personally. In fact, I know that she loves her new “ family”.
Chevington Lodge looked after my dear husband in his last weeks. He died with Lewy Body Dementia and Diabetes. Because of COVID, we were unable to visit but it was never too much trouble for the Manager and her team to talk to us on the phone. Also, they kindly arranged for us to say our Goodbyes in person. Since my husband's passing, they have spoken to me to see if I am ok -which is so nice. Yes, I would recommend them.
