Chevington Lodge

Flixton Road, Bungay NR35 1HQ

The Chevington Lodge service understands that making a decision for your loved one is a difficult task especially when Residential Care receives adverse publicity.

Chevington Lodge is owned and managed by a local family who live in South Norfolk, who take pride in always looking to improve the service they offer and making sure the resident comes first in whatever they do. The family is involved on a daily basis with each home supporting the managers to ensure an ‘excellent’ service is maintained to all residents.

Chevington is situated overlooking the beautiful Waveney valley in the market town of Bungay and is a home for elderly people with dementia.

The aim of the provider is to achieve an accommodation that feels like home rather than a hotel, using good quality furnishings and making sure they are well maintained inside and out.

A well trained team of staff support the long-standing manager Ioana in proudly delivering person-centred care, daily activities, and lovely traditional home cooked food.

Chevington provides both long and short term care, with potential service users able to make appointments and view the property for themselves.

Overview

The Review Score of 8 (maximum of 10) for Chevington Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Chevington Lodge in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.488 for Chevington Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.488

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.483 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chevington Lodge is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 = 3.25

    2. Target of 8.6 positive Reviews (43 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 2 Reviews ÷ 8.6 Target = 0.233

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My father continues to receive excellent care and support appropriate to his ever-increasing needs.
Issues, as they arise, are quickly addressed involving ourselves in any solutions.
Staff attitudes and competence are excellent and I would recommend this home to others without hesitation.

My mother is very well looked after, cared for with dignity and gentleness. I find all the staff to be helpful when I visit. I know they are busy but they always have time for me and the residents. The food always looks and smells nice.
I feel very confident leaving my mum in care at Chevington Lodge.
Thank you.

Mum suffered from Parkinson's disease for 15 years and following a fall and breaking her hip, needed constant care.
A room was available at Chevington Lodge.
Mum spent nearly seven years there and sadly passed away on January 28th.
The care Mum had at the home from all the staff was exceptional, right to the end of her life.

My mum is now completely bedridden with advanced Alzheimer's and lives in Chevington Lodge. It never ceases to amaze my husband and I, at the high level of care attended on my mum. The staff are caring and sensitive in their dealings with her and ourselves. My mum is kept immaculate with beautifully laundered clothes and bed linen. Her personal care is faultless, this despite the fact that my mum is not always easy to deal with because of her condition. I would not hesitate to recommend Chevington Lodge to anyone who needs such care.

My cousin was cared for at Chevington Lodge, for twelve months until her death. Throughout that time she received excellent care, physically emotionally and medically. She entered the home following a stroke which worsened her dementia. However, as a result of the attention she received her condition improved and she enjoyed a happy final year despite a gradually deteriorating memory and additional physical complications. The staff all and everyone were warm and welcoming and communicated well with me. A loving atmosphere.

I have visited my aunt in this home for five years and said how well she was treated. When my mother needed to into care at the age of 94, we decided she should go into Chevington Lodge. I have seen that all the staff and management treat the residents with great care and compassion. Activities are arranged on a daily basis together with exercises to keep both mind and body active as possible. My mother is happy and contented and well looked after which is what I wanted and I have no complaints about her care.

As a former employee I can tell you that they treat the residents as individuals , with dignity and respect and not as a number. Highly person centred, good activities for residents, awesome training for staff and very friendly environment. Many outdoor activities, boat trips when available.
