My auntie was increasingly struggling at home, so in January 2025 she came to Wetley Manor for a trial stay - and she's still there. As she says, they're used to people whose brains are worn out! There are lots of activities of various kinds, and residents are reminded - but not pressured to take part if they don't want to. The staff have also taken care to make sure that she can continue to walk, both in the grounds and outside (accompanied by a staff member) in addition to being taken out by friends. Visitors are welcome (except at mealtimes). She says the food is good. She especially loves the view from her window, and being out in the country. Being a relatively small home, on one corridor, it's easy for her to find her way to wherever she needs to go.
Re: my brother, resident for 2 years. After settling in, my brother is well cared for and has a better quality of life here. I visit every week and am always welcomed and always find him clean and tidy. The food always smells amazing as it is cooked fresh on the premises, which has resulted in my brother gaining weight, which he needed. All the staff are very friendly and the home is very clean and tidy. Sarah, the Manager, always keeps me informed if there are any issues. I would absolutely recommend the home to anyone who is looking to place a relative there, as I feel the home is very well run and a safe environment.
Needed respite care for my elderly mum after a series of falls and confusion as I had booked a holiday a while back. Looked at a few places but really didn't march what I was looking for, then came across Wetley Manor, spoke to the Manager Sarah, who showed me around the home and gardens, went through everything with me as to what they could offer to us for mum. It seemed to be ideal, we spoke to mum about it, and more than happy to go while we enjoyed our much need holiday after 24/7 care for the last few months. This gave us peace of mind knowing we could go on holiday and she would be safe with professional care staff to look after her and her needs for the 2xweeks we were away. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Wetley Manor who needs care for anyone, very professional in every aspect of care, mum really enjoyed her stay, 3 weeks on and she still mentions it. Thank you so much The Walker family
Staff are lovely and kind, and accommodating. The home is well managed and an excellent value for money. Dad is well looked after. There are lots of activities taking place on a weekly basis, and Dad really enjoyed a recent trip to an Aquarium.
When I went to visit my Aunt for her 96th birthday recently, the staff were so helpful and supportive as always. I am based in Ireland, so it's great that I can relax knowing that my Aunt is so happy and content in Wetley Manor. As recently as today I messaged the owner directly to let him know that I am away for a while, and he got back to me straight away to say that he will contact me if I need to be updated on anything. Wetley Manor and its staff are what anyone could wish for.
Oh wow from the owner to the Managers and all of the staff are so welcoming and have such a lovely rapport with all the residents. They are so on top of health & safety and the care they provide to residents that it has helped me focus on my terminal cancer and palliative treatment whilst I know my mom is being well cared for and enjoying spending time with her new friends. The food and home are immaculate and the whole environment helps your shoulders sink to soak up the beautiful surroundings.
Re.my sister - resident for 3+ years. Over this period of time her condition has slowly deteriorated, she now needs constant help with basic daily needs. i.e. washing, using the toilet and feeding. She is encouraged to help herself and join in with various activities but sadly unable to do so. The symptoms of dementia are cruel. The care she receives ensures she is always 'clean and tidy' and outwardly calm. As her condition will worsen, it is reassuring to know that she will be well cared for by staff that are friendly, understanding and proficient. The home is a safe environment and her room is always clean and tidy.
My gran needed respite care after breaking her hip. Since moving into the home she has improved health wise and also her overall well-being has improved. She decided she liked it so much she wanted to stay because her experience has been so positive. All the staff are caring and give time to talk to residents despite clearly being busy. Mealtimes are a big part of the day and activities are put on regularly with variety. The care home is very well run and all management is visible and cares about residents. The home is also very clean and tidy.
A small home with a big heart. The staff are caring and pleasant. Residents are happy and well-presented each day. Meals are of a good variety. Residents' rooms are clean, pleasant and they are able to bring some personal belongings to make it homely and reassuring, especially for those with dementia. Family is kept up to date with everything they need to know. The owner and senior staff are very approachable if you have any problems or concerns.
My mother has been in the care home now for 5 years and 10 months, and all during this period the staff have been remarkable with mum, all the staff at every level, including the owner, have continued to persevere with her and now she absolutely loves being there and looks upon all the staff and fellow residents as being her friends! The quality of the activities, entertainment and food are all exceptional, and Mum always is full of compliments when I visit her, about how busy she has been, how much fun she has had, and all the enjoyment it's bought her. I must also applaud the fantastic efforts every member of staff put in, for the full duration of the closure period of Covid. It was very comforting, for both Mum and myself to know that at all times, she was in the most very capable and professional hands, who were keeping her as safe as possible at all times. An absolutely wonderful establishment, that I am very pleased to say, my mother now considers very much her home.
My mother was a resident at Wetley Manor Care Home for 2 years and 8 months. Despite the trauma that was caused by Covid and the restrictions on visiting her, we found the staff at Wetley Manor were very accommodating. Before Covid restrictions, we found the staff to be friendly, helpful and professional in their dealings with Mum and the family. Restrictions clearly limited their availability in terms of communication but the owner and his staff did their utmost to facilitate communication both with Mum and themselves. I cannot find fault with the home or the staff and would highly recommend Wetley Manor for any future residents.
My dad spent almost 12 months at Wetley Manor Care Home. The care Dad received was exceptional, the staff were very accommodating and the owner was always there whenever you needed him. The manager was an ex-nurse and it showed in the disciplined way the home was run and she was very caring and friendly towards my dad and myself and family members. My dad was very happy there and felt at home in his room.
My father-in-law has been a resident at Wetley Manor Care Home since September 2019; he is brilliantly cared for. The staff are caring and efficient. The home itself is very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The food is all homemade and always looks amazing.
My father just called it home and could not get over the food. He put on a stone in weight.
Having chosen Wetley Manor for my mother-in-law, she's settled in very well. The staff and management are great, she is well looked after, never in dirty clothes, has her hair done and joins in the activities that they provide. The food is very good, the home lovely and clean. Yes, I would recommend the home.
My mother spent the last three and a half years of her life at Wetley Manor Care Home. Throughout her time there, she was treated with the utmost kindness, care and patience by the members of staff and care home manager. Since my husband and I lived nearby, we were able to visit regularly and were always given a warm welcome and enjoyed the happy atmosphere we found there. The quality of food, which was prepared on the premises, was excellent, as were the various social activities provided. I can strongly recommend Wetley Manor to anyone seeking a care home place for a loved one.
My step-father has been happy and contented during his stay during the past few years. Staff were particularly supportive when he lost his only son last year.
The care offered by Wetley Manor is absolutely exceptional. My mother considers all the care workers and the owners to be her close friends and has some very happy times enjoying the facilities and activities regularly on offer.
My father lived at Wetley Manor Care Home for 18 months before moving to a nursing home for palliative care. From the first visit, it felt like home. Efficiently run, very clean (it never smells!) and with good food (dad loved discussing the meals with the cook). The staff are friendly, caring and fun. Endlessly patient and attentive they deal with problems discreetly and with sensitivity. Dad (and mum who still lives there) was happy at Wetley Manor Care Home despite deteriorating health and mobility and they did their very best for him at all times. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there myself especially with the new decor.
