View Full Details of Marine Park ViewIf your looking for a residential care home for someone you love, I can highly recommend Marine Park View. The staff are extremely caring and supportive to all residents that I have observed. They are also very warm and friendly to visitors. You can go in at anytime unannounced to visit your loved one, who you can be sure is treated with care and dignity. Everyone I saw was treated with a lot of care and the house has a feeling of happiness. I had my next of kin moved from a facility in Yorkshire, up here to South Shields because I had seen Marine Park View on just a drop in visit and was highly impressed with the place and the very friendly professional staff. I cannot praise the place and staff enough for how my loved one was cared for.
Couldn't ask for anything more from the staff. They're very caring, friendly and helpful. In a nice location. Pleasant views and private parking around the back. I would highly recommend the care home to anyone who needs it.
We have an Aunt with dementia who has been a resident at Marine Park View for 3 years. We did look at other care homes, but most were much more expensive and didn't have the excellent sea-side location. We also thought other care homes had too much of a clinical, formal feel about them. Marine Park View has more of an informal feel (in a good way). More like a sea-side B&B than a care home (again, in a good way). My Aunt thinks she is on a permanent holiday with plenty entertainment and an entourage of staff to attend to her every need (well, I suppose she is!). Many improvements have been made over the past few years (levels of care, food / menu, in-house entertainment, day-trips away etc). These improvements have been recognised by the Care Quality Commission, who inspected MPV in April 2024 and noted that "substantial improvements had been made", rating MPV as "Good". Residents also told the CQC they enjoyed the increased activities and "felt safe", which is great for us to know!
I can't say enough good things about this care home. From the moment my elderly aunt moved in, the level of care, compassion, and professionalism from the entire team has been truly outstanding. She is treated with genuine kindness and respect every single day. The staff take the time to get to know her personally - her likes, dislikes and her routines - it makes such a difference. There's always a friendly face, and she often tells us how much she enjoys chatting with the carers and joining in the activities. The home itself is warm, clean, and welcoming, with a real sense of community. Meals are nutritious and thoughtfully prepared, and the environment feels safe and comfortable - which gives our family so much peace of mind. Knowing that she is happy, well cared for, and surrounded by people who truly value her means the world to us. This place has been a blessing, and we're incredibly grateful for everything they do.
Grandpa moved up from elsewhere in the country and the staff at MPV have been very helpful and attentive and gone to lengths to make him feel comfortable and settled. They look after him well and he has thrived after his hospital admission. Extra equipment has been provided to keep him safe and accommodating his health needs and this has been acquired quickly and efficiently. the staff are all very friendly and make visitors feel as welcome as the residents.
My father-in-law came to stay here end of December 2024 previously in a council run shelter but in a unit with extra care, which unfortunately never happened. He was left in his room all day an even in bed with snacks left in his sitting room. He came here from hospital and the staff here have been fantastic, dad is kept clean, brought from his room everyday to mix with residents, which before no contact with anyone. he is eating meals and tries to chat, we have never seen him look so well in two years. Wish we had him here sooner. We are happy that he is being cared for at this stage of life. Thank you yo all.
My auntie has been a resident at Marine Park View for almost 2 years and is very happy there. She loves the staff and the personal attention she gets which she didn't get when she lived on her own. She also loves the views from the front windows, especially her bedroom window on the second floor out across the park and the river. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is lovely with choices at meal times. There are activities and entertainment for the residents and regular family meetings so that family members know what is happening and what the plans are for the future. Highly recommended!
My Dad has been a resident since August 2021. I was happy when I first saw this comfortable home in such a great spot. My Dad loved walking at the park and the seaside, although he's a lot frailer now and we don't always get out. The staff at Marine Park View are so kind and gentle with my old Dad, always treating him with dignity and genuine loving care. I'm often out of the country and the manager tries to contact me at least weekly for a WhatsApp video call! This means the world to me as I get a chance to see my Dad, he can see me and we can interact, sometimes easier than others as he has dementia but I always appreciate the effort that the manager makes. I can visit anytime, day or night when I'm there and am always welcomed into a clean and happy home. There are regular activities on the go which I can participate in too when I pop in! This is a lovely, friendly place which I would certainly recommend. My Dad is happy and content and very well cared for!
Overall good quality of are, support and comfort provided throughout No request is too big, all help needed is met quickly + efficiently. Mother is well cared for in all aspects can recommend this care home.
Staff learn as much as they can about my sister; interests, food, etc. They are always very attentive, friendly and caring. They monitor her health and arrange appointments if/when needed and keep us informed of her care and care plan. She has a nice room with a view but spends virtually all her time moving between the 'community' rooms, under the supervision of a staff member, who are always around. Sometimes she sits watching TV whilst also people watching. Other times she sits with other residents chatting or taking part in the various daily entertainment opportunities. She loves it and the staff. My daughter or I visit regularly and my sister is always nicely dressed and clean. On the occasions we go to her room, it is always clean and tidy. The building is old. Some rooms are 'dated' but the place is clean and totally acceptable as a good care home. I have no worries about my sister's care. She is in safe hands. I definitely made the right decision for her and her family.
Welcoming and friendly staff. Take great care of my grandad. Facilities are great for visiting. The establishment is very clean. Staff are great, offer food and drinks when I visit. Grandad is being looked after well.
In my opinion, Marine View Park has an old-fashioned vibe, however, the staff and management project a very homely atmosphere and are improving all the time to suit the residents' needs as nothing seems to be a problem. I felt as though Mam would get more 1 to 1 care rather than a huge establishment. They have fun activities, visiting any time and will happily discuss any issues with you. Definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a homely little care home.
Never have any issues with the care of my mum. Staff are always lovely, pleasant and caring and I have a good relationship with the staff at the home. If I had any issues I feel confident that I could broach these concerns with the staff. Mum is always well cared for and looked after. My mum appears to be happy and content at the home and as long as she is happy and looked after we, her family are happy. I have no concerns with the care my mum receives at the home.
We chose Marine Park View because it feels like a family home. It doesn't feel like a hospital, which a lot of the bigger sites can do. The site location is amazing, being located near the coast and next to a park. Taking Mother out for walks in her wheelchair was a family favourite for visits. As Mother's mobility declined then equipment was supplied, even providing a hoist when she became too fragile to lift manually. The staff are caring and capable. The management is friendly and approachable.
I first came to this care home 2 months ago on behalf of my grandad who was not doing very well at the time. I walked in off the street without making an appointment (very naughty of me I know) but the manager made me feel most welcome. She talked to me through the full process and showed me around the care home along with my 2 children. This instantly put my mind at ease as there was no time to prepare for my visit and I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the residents were and content in their surroundings. My Granddad became very ill during our 2nd visit so we moved him in immediately; again, with no notice or time to prepare the staff knew what needed to happen and instead of putting obstacles in our way, everyone bent over backwards to make this happen with as little discomfort as possible for my Grandad. I would like to thank Marine Park View so much for all the efforts made by the staff, you guys are doing a great job!
Dad has been in this home for a couple of months now. I've waited to put on a review as I don't live locally, although when my and sister visited a number of number of other local homes I have to say this felt like it was a home from home somewhere where I hoped dad would eventually settle. Dad has always loved the sea being a fond canoeist so the views over the park and to the sea were ideal. Also holds lots of family memories being in this area. The managerial and hands-on staff on visiting day made him/us feel so relaxed and welcoming. Caring open and honest. As the weeks passed they got to know Dad's needs and his triggers. There is a fantastic mix of qualifications, experience and personalities amongst the staff to make sure your family member receives the best care. They take time to see how you are too, even my pet dog. Nothing is too much trouble. If your relatives need any equipment they are on it straight away. Being here we know Dad is safe and his mental health is on the up.
Very happy with the way things have improved. The staff and management are great and feel good that my mother is getting the care she needs.
Nice friendly staff. Would be nice to have more outings to the park in summer for exercise.
Initially chose this home for its location opposite the park and near the sea and also because it wasn't a purpose-built care home. Also, I knew someone who had previously had a relative in there. Dad's room is a good size with a large bay window. Looking out from it brought back a lot of memories for him. Great views from most of the windows there. Plenty of food is supplied with a great variation on the menu. Dad never complains about being hungry Visitors are welcomed in a very pleasant manner. The staff normally find somewhere for the residents and visitors to be able to sit and talk in a more private situation. Due to my Dad getting quite a lot of visitors we joke about changing the music room to being called his room. The staff are all very friendly right across all job roles. Speaking personally, the staff have been a godsend to me. They recognise when I am feeling upset, stressed etc. I appreciate their chats, cuddles, cups of coffee and just general concern. Glad we found this place.
My mother has been a resident at Marine Park View for over 3 years. Since the home came under new management earlier this year I feel that communication, care and general well-being of my mum has improved greatly. The new manager is a lot more approachable and friendly and seems to genuinely care about the residents (management prior to this were quite unapproachable.) We were looking into moving my mum to another care home due to issues raised by CQC following their last inspection (issues that we were unaware of prior to this.) The home has improved so much in the last few months, care staff and management are now very friendly and approachable and always assist with any concerns that we raise. This gives us peace of mind that my mum is being well cared for and she seems content here.
