View Full Details of Wentworth LodgeMy mother has lived at Wentworth for over 2 yrs. she is severely sight impaired and has very poor short term memory. She has settled in so well and has a good relationship with the staff who assist her when required but encourage her to maintain as much independence as she is able. Before Wentworth she was living in her own flat. She was considered to be someone who did not like to socialise and didn't join in except within her own family. Since moving to Wentworth she is happy, content, joins in with others and refers to them as her friends and appears to be very competitive with lounge games. In my opinion this has been the best move for my mother's holistic wellbeing and I thank each and every member of staff for their kind care.
My mum moved to Wentworth Lodge on November 2022 due to her worsening alzheimers diagnosis - we have absolutely no regrets. Mum is happy, settled and feels very much "at home" in Wentworth. It's a small and relatively quiet home, which suits Mum perfectly. She adores the staff and they, in return, care and support her as they would a member of their own family. When Mum first came to Wentworth, staff promised that they would look after Mum WITH me (not for me) - and I can honestly say they have delivered on this promise ten-fold! I for one, really can't thank them enough!
Several years ago, it was necessary for my mother to move to a care home. I visited a few local homes and chose Wentworth Lodge. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to ensure the care is good and personal. As it's a relatively small home, they are able to really get to know each resident, their likes/dislikes etc. They always let me know if there are any issues or if my mother needs anything. During the current pandemic, they have allowed socially distanced visiting whenever possible and when safe to do so. Alternatively, the duty manager is always available to speak to on the phone for updates. All in all, I know my mother is being cared for and is safe.
I moved my mother from a care home in Bodmin to Cardiff, as I live in Cardiff. Because of lockdown and restrictions, it was not easy but all through the process, the manager was very helpful and dealt with everything. My mother is much happier in Cardiff and I cannot fault the care she gets. The carers are always helpful and nothing is too much for them. At this point in time, I have only been allowed to see her and talk a few times because of restrictions but I do talk to her through the window sometimes. We are more than happy with her care.
