View Full Details of Rush CourtMy mother of 97 was admitted to Rush Court as a residential respite patient following a week of medical care in the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. On admission she was still very frail and poorly mobile with little motivation. Prior to all this she had been slightly struggling to care for herself in her own small bungalow. The transfer from Hospital was seamless and she was greeted warmly by lovely staff at Rush Court. Everyone from the reception staff to senior management and the brilliant Physios were remarkable. Caring, efficient and with attention to detail. The environment is amazing and the food excellent. After 4 weeks in Rush Court she had changed from a slightly depressed, poorly mobile, frail elderly person to a smiling (and occasionally laughing a lot) person walking with a frame and sometimes two sticks. The Physios were incredibly effective. She didn't want to leave and had nothing but positive experience to report. Highly recommended.
My father had been unwell for a couple of months so he thought that some respite care would be good for him and also for his wife. They were in for 2.5 weeks, sharing a room as they do at home, and the rest did them both the world of good. The food was excellent (I went for lunch one day out of curiosity and agree with them), the room was comfy, with a lovely view out over the countryside, and the staff were kindness itself. In addition, my stepmum took advantage of the flat and well maintained garden path, and walked all round it at least once a day, which has improved her walking, and as a result, she shuffles much less now. They both agreed it was like a small cosy country hotel and would definitely repeat the experience.
My husband went in for respite during a crisis in our lives. Rush Court is a lovely building in beautiful countryside. The staff are lovely and caring. He had a nice room on the ground floor and elected to have his meals in his room which on reflection was a mistake. The food was of good quality but often cold when it reached him, particularly the breakfasts. Probably because he was one of very few men there he had no-one to talk to other than the staff and didn't find the activities interesting. He did enjoy the physio sessions though. I went in every day and took him out for a change of scene. We had booked 3 weeks but I brought him home after 2. There was no-one there to say goodbye to us when we left.
My mother transferred to Rush Court from short term respite care elsewhere but was previously living independently at home so this was a big change for her. She is now living at Rush Court. The welcome and first few weeks have been very warm and positive during this transition. Rush Court itself is an amazing residence - the landscape and gardens quite stunning and the home has a very calm feeling. All the staff have been very kind supportive and if needed pro active in offering mum support. The food is of a high quality as is the physio she has been offered. Very happy :-)
Having been at Rush Court for respite, my daughter (40 years) is now resident in the Nursing Wing. She has recently returned from a long stay in hospital, where she received messages, birthday cards, videos and presents from the very caring community at this lovely home. It all kept her morale up while in hospital. She is now delighted to be a Rush Court resident once more. A recent highlight at Rush Court has been the wonderful VE Day 80 afternoon celebration, made special by the thought, hardwork, dedication and enthusiasm of all staft across the home. Stunning decorations; warm-hearted atmosphere; cheerful staff teamwork second to none. Perfect entertainment came from the regular saxophonist with very 40's tunes... Typical for Rush Court - happiness, nourishment and entertainment!
My mother moved into Rush Court nearly a year ago. This follows an earlier period of respite care at Rush Court prior to a hip operation. When living at home became too difficult for Mum, she was in no doubt that she wanted to return to Rush Court. She was warmly welcomed back and my sisters and I were immediately reassured and relieved that Mum was back in the best possible place. Until a recent period of ill health, Mum has enjoyed the facilities, activities, and beautiful rural location of Rush Court. She loves the garden and enjoys walking in it on a daily basis. The staff and management are all caring and highly professional; they always 'go the extra mile' to be helpful and supportive to me and other family members, especially during Mum's current period of ill health. Rush Court is a welcoming place that feels like home. It is always a pleasure to visit, noting that its peaceful out-of-town location might be a little inconvenient for visitors who are reliant on public transport.
My mother spent two happy years in the Nursing wing at Rush Court having broken her kneecap after a fall at home and was therefore unable to continue living independently. Initially, she missed her independence but with a combination of outstanding physio and her own determination she was able to walk again, and with the encouragement and kindness of all the staff she was able to resume her busy life within the home. She loved all the activities (even though by her own admission she was "no good" at some of them) and went on all the available outings until she became too frail. She died just before Christmas after a brief illness just short of her 98th birthday, having been nursed devotedly by the staff until the end. So much so that I found a note by her bedside written about two days before she died in a very wobbly hand, saying "I want to thank all the nurses and carers who were help to me - it has been a happy time. Love to you all" Grateful thanks from all our family...
Few of us want to have to make the decision to move a parent into a care home but when their safety requires this, it is very comforting to know that your parent is living in a lovely environment where all the staff care about the residents and really build a relationship with them. It is natural that residents' health will change over time, sometimes quite suddenly; we have found the staff at Rush Court very supportive through this next stage of a somewhat challenging journey. A very good variety of activities are arranged. There is also a good selection of culinary options. I am very grateful for the care (in the real sense of that word) which is provided.
My mother-in-law has lived at Rush Court (in the nursing wing) for just over 2 years now. The staff are all wonderful and show so much care and affection for all the residents. This includes not only the nursing and care staff but all those who work there including management, catering, and maintenance teams. The activities team are wonderful and comes up with many varied and wonderful activities for the residents, most of which are provided in the home, but some of which involve trips out. Thank you!
I have just moved my Mum into Rush Court, only a few days prior to Christmas. The staff have all been lovely and it already feels like Mum has been there for longer than she has. The room is very nice and clean. There has been quick care and nursing care for Mum whenever needed. So far, I have been pleased we chose Rush Court for Mum and she seems content.
Rush Court is a wonderful care home in every way. The building is very well maintained. The staff are happy which is so important in creating a relaxed atmosphere for those living there. The care is excellent, very attentive and conscientious and, very importantly, they are very patient. The residents' dining room is laid out as a restaurant with good and varied food menus, and if sometimes one prefers something else this is provided. The social events are plentiful with some outdoor visits for those able to take part.
I rate the home and the staff very highly. They are helpful, attentive, and very caring. The accommodation is first class and so is the food. And they go to great lengths to put on things to entertain the residents every day. They are also very courteous to family members and great at remembering who we are by name. I can highly recommend the home. I suppose the only slight downside is the price but that seems to be fairly in line with other similar homes.
My Dad has been a resident at Rush Court since December 2022. The care overall has been very good even though the turnover of staff, in general, has been slightly higher than one would like. The variety of meals are a good standard and very nutritious. The lead activity coordinator is exceptional and tries to encourage my Dad to participate in activities. The bedrooms are also cleaned to a high standard. The Management team are also very professional and listens to any minor concerns which are always rectified promptly and efficiently.
The staff are friendly and attentive. Always a really good atmosphere in the home. The food is of a high standard. Premises well maintained. Good range of activities for residents.
My mother has been at Rush Court for 18 months. She is very content there and appreciative of the care she receives from many of the kind and thoughtful carers and staff. Although she has a small room, she loves the views over the fields from her window. She also much enjoys the beautiful garden and especially the floral display at the entrance. She enjoys the meals which are wide-ranging and adaptable. She finds all the staff to be exceptionally helpful and courteous. As a family, we are most grateful for the care that she is receiving in this beautiful home. Thank you!
My aunt was given a very high standard of care during her time at Rush Court. The staff gave her excellent care and were friendly and patient. The food was of a very high quality. This is so important for residents/patients. She was very ill however was made as comfortable and welcome as possible. Overall a better experience than I was expecting. I hope I receive the same care and environment when/if necessary.
This was my wife's 3rd short respite stay at Rush Court. Lovely setting, good amenities, nice room, caring staff and good food. However, the home feels under-managed with disorganised discharge, missing items (subsequently located) and an apparent lack of effective procedures. Laundry return is very haphazard and my wife has returned with items that do not belong to her. The management team seem rather office-bound and would be more effective if their presence was more obvious and with a higher profile.
My mother lived in Rush Court from April 2022 until her death in May 2024. Rush Court was the only care home that she wanted to go to when she became unable to manage at her home. She very much enjoyed her time at Rush Court. She got on well with other residents and loved the rural setting and beautiful garden. The end-of-life nursing staff were excellent and made her final days as peaceful and dignified as nature allowed.
My mother was a resident at Rush Court for over three years. She was very engaged when she arrived, although it was a big change for her. Unfortunately she was there during Covid, which very much restricted her life but the home kept her safe. As restrictions lifted, it was good to take her out. She has been registered blind and then lost her hearing. The staff were all wonderfully patient and kind with her. We were happy with the home.
Mum has been a resident at Rush Court since January 2023. She has been happy here. The staff and management are kind and caring. There is a lovely homely feel about the home. When she joins in with the activities she always enjoys them. We as a family are happy to know she is safe, happy and well looked after. Thank you.
