My life long partner died on the 10th July at Sunbury Nursing Home after being referred there by hospital some two months earlier. It is true to say that she was in a very bad way when she was first transferred, having multiple complications that you would never wish on anybody. It was my privilege
to be able to be at her side every day and together, with the nurses and care staff, we were able to ensure she wanted for nothing. I received two telephone calls on the morning of her passing from the supervisor at Sunbury Nursing Home; the first to alert me to their concerns and the second some forty minutes later to the inevitable. When I arrived an hour later, the staff had rested her in the bed with just her arms outside the bedclothes; she was holding a small bouquet of flowers in her hands. The staff showed such dignity and love for her by doing this. My appreciation for all the staff at Ashton Lodge Nursing Home. Unnoticed, unsung heroes with dedication in their heart.
