View Full Details of Baytrees Nursing HomeMy mum was a resident in the home for 3 months and I believe during that time she was admitted to hospital 4 times with complications with her type 1 diabetes, one time going into DKA while in the home as staff left the blood sugars consistently above 30 for a long period of time. They also lied in the enquiry saying it was my mums own fault. My mum has since been in a new home for 5 months now, during that time she has not had one medical issue, not one trip to hospital and medically is doing pretty well. Think it goes to show, it was the home that was the problem as she is now thriving somewhere else and we have had a totally different, much more positive experience than we did with this home. Dingy inside with leaks, an unkept garden and rude staff.
My partner was admitted to the hospital after a number of falls following which investigative scans revealed that she had a brain tumour which had spread to her lungs. The illness was too far advanced for treatment, so she was admitted to the Baytrees Nursing Home to receive end-of-life care. The home is exceptionally welcoming and runs very efficiently by well-trained and friendly staff. They not only looked after my partner while in their care but went out of their way to ensure that I was coping under understandably stressful circumstances. I'm not sure how I would have managed without their 24hr care for my partner and support for me throughout this difficult and emotionally challenging time.
My husband went in for respite. Staff and management were pleasant to talk to. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was great (and my husband is very fussy about his food). Overall, he didn’t want to come home. Once again thank you Baytrees for making his stay excellent.
