View Full Details of Hunters Down Care HomeMy sister was taken to hospital, a temporary care home to and from her apartment. When she moved from the last care home, she was confused, as before the duty of care from the beginning had been excellent. My sister was taken to hospital and then returned to Hunters Down and was moved to the nursing section. We were by now extremely concerned for her; however, due to the real care she receives, her condition is much improved, with much gratitude and thanks. (As she is confined to bed, I cannot answer activities)
From the initial meeting with the home manager to day-to-day care and then nursing care, everyone has put my mum's needs first. Also, staff have kept the family informed of even small changes in her behaviour or health. The support offered at the end was unobtrusive and dignified. Thank you.
After disgusting treatment at a local hosptial our mother was broken and she went downhill very quickly. Hunters Down were amazing and cared for her. Kept us informed at every stage. The staff were excellent, we could not fault them in any way.
Thank you for being such an amazing care home. Your staff are truly first class, nothing is too much trouble to make our Mum feel safe and to settle in. Having worked in care homes for 30 years, I can honestly say it's the best home I've ever been into. The entertainment is excellent, excellent food, 5 stars. Many thanks! "Our Mum is happy"
I can not fault this care home, nothing is too much trouble, and any questions are answered with honesty. Food is very good, and the staff are all very helpful. We were told to look upon the room as if it were her own, we brought photos etc., and the staff had them put up on the walls, this care home cares!
Mum and Dad were both referred to Hunters Down after both receiving terminal diagnoses and short stays in hospital at the end of 2024. I cannot recommend Hunters Down highly enough. The care that they both received was fantastic: all staff were attentive - both admin and medical staff: professional, friendly and respectful. My parents soon settled into care home life despite their illnesses. When visiting Mum and Dad, I was ALWAYS made to feel welcome. Often I had questions to ask, and felt that I was able to do this and no query was too big or too small. The home staff work really hard to provide entertainment for the residents and provide a varied timetable of events. The home is well presented, clean and comfortable. Sadly, Mum and Dad both passed away whilst they were resident, but the staff could not have done more for me and my family. Nothing was too much trouble. Everything was dealt with sensitively and with compassion - I cannot thank you enough.
A dear family friend moved to Hunters Down, Cromwell Nursing Dementia care, in November 2023. From my initial visit I knew he would be safe, well cared for and comfortable. So important!. This never altered until early April 2025 when he died at the age of 91. Hunters Down is a lovely home; impossible to sum up in a few words. It had everything I wished for in providing care to a vulnerable, loved one. I can't recommend it highly enough. The dedicated and professional team always treated him with kindness, respect and patience; often greeted by him with a smile. This was extended to family and friends too. During his final few weeks the nursing care was exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble to ensure his comfort. This meant so much. Thankyou to you all. Forever grateful.
My nan has been in the care home, Hunters Down for over a year now. I have visited many times and my nan is always happy every time I visited her. She said that the carers are always helping her and are always friendly and kind. She also said that she enjoys the activities in the care home, My dad told me that the management is approachable and that they can talk to them anytime about my nan's care. I can recommend Hunters Down.
Mothers care since first coming into the home to date, has been excellent. All the staff from management, carers + reception have been wonderful and as a family we could not have asked for more.
Overall had a great experience with the care home, staff are lovely and helpful. Giving residents a place to call home, with great activities thanks to the lifestyle co-ordinators. Hope all the staff keep up the hard work, and keep doing a great job.

My mother has been in Hunters Down Care Home for just over a year now, it took a while for her to settle in but the staff have been very good in helping her settle in. The food is excellent, staff are always friendly.
Dad was in Hunters Down for only a short period at the end of his life. He was 94. The standard of care afforded to him by all of the staff was exemplary. A wonderful Home which makes relatives feel most welcome and inclusive. Thank you.
I really like it at Hunters Down because everyone is a good caring person. There are lots of activities for everyone to join in. I join most of them. We do keep fit and we often dance. The meals are good and plenty of choice offered. If you don't like something they will offer you something else.
My father spent his last days at Hunters Down, he was treated with great care and respect. The Manager and all the other staff were so very kind to us. We would highly recommend it. Lovely clean home that smells fresh, well done to all the team at Hunters Down.
Following a fall and operation on a broken hip, my mother was transferred from the hospital to Hunters Down Care in July 2022. From her arrival, the care she has received has been exemplary. There have been periods when her health has given cause for great concern. However, in all circumstances, the staff have kept me fully informed discussing options and respectfully listening to my wishes. Her well-being and quality of life have been enhanced with the daily care she receives. The food is excellent and has encouraged her to eat better. On two occasions I have requested meals for visiting family members and these were also very good. It was a welcome bonus to be able to book the small dining room available for these visits enabling us to have a private space. There is also a wonderful range of daily activities for the residents; all of which contribute to the joyful atmosphere. I feel blessed and am incredibly grateful for the dedicated care my 98-year-old mother receives.
My dad spent the last nine months of his life at Hunters Down where he was given outstanding care, patience, kindness and respect by all the staff. The staff knew him well and truly made it his home and family. In his final days, as he died at Hunters Down, the staff showed such compassion and care both to him and to my family. I can't thank them enough.
The care my dad has received has been the best. Couldn't ask for any better. My dad enjoys their company and we have found that everybody is so friendly and caring, couldn't ask for better.
My father-in-law received an excellent compassionate care during his stay on Cromwell unit. The staff were always friendly and caring and his face would light up when they came in his room. We were very lucky to have had him placed in Hunters Down and would not hesitate to recommend their services.
