Mum was a resident of Hunter Down Care Home, on Cromwell Unit, dementia care. Her dementia sometimes made her behaviour difficult, especially during personal care. The carers treated her with dignity and respect, accommodating her behaviours. During her last weeks, the nurses made sure Mum never suffered, and were in constant communication. The family and I were listened to, cared for, and Mum's end of life care was amazing.

My sister, for the first time, never complained whatsoever, nor did I. There was never a reason. My gratitude and thanks to the manager and all staff for their care, which was all too short for my sister's short stay at Hunters Down.

My uncle Brian stayed at Hunters Down Care Home for just one week for end of life care, at the remarkable age of 98. During that short time, the care, compassion and respect he received was truly exceptional. Every member of staff treated him with such dignity and kindess - not just a person. Their warmth, patience and professionalism gave our family great comfort at a very difficult time. We are deeply grateful to all the staff. Their dedication and humanity made all the difference.

My husband had been in Hunters Down Care Home nearly 4 months, I found that everyone was so caring and lovely to my husband at me. The place is excellent and clean. My husband passed away on 13th September 2025 and I will never forget how the staff made a guard of honour for me when they was taking my husband out, and then undertakers took husband through guard of honour too, so that was so thoughtful of all the staff.
It means a great deal to us to know that you felt supported and cared for - not only in the everyday moments, but...
As soon as I contacted the manager for assistance in finding somewhere for my cousin, she couldn't have been more helpful. Within a week, my cousin was out of hospital and settled in her new room. The facilities are excellent and the staff are brilliant, nothing is too much trouble. I found you wonderful to my brother-in-law and my sister, his wife, Pauline. You looked after him so well, above and beyond. The staff are fantastic, and the whole place is wonderful. My sister lost Andy on 13th Sept, 1 week before his birthday. No one shall be in pain. It's sad how the stroke affected him 2 years after he had it. All of you are wonderful.
Thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words. It means the world to us to know that we were able to support Andy, Pauline, and your family during such a difficult time. Andy was a truly special person, and it was an honour to care for him. We're deeply sorry for your loss and send our love to...
From the initial meeting with the home manager to day-to-day care and then nursing care, everyone has put my mum's needs first. Also, staff have kept the family informed of even small changes in her behaviour or health. The support offered at the end was unobtrusive and dignified. Thank you.
After disgusting treatment at a local hosptial our mother was broken and she went downhill very quickly. Hunters Down were amazing and cared for her. Kept us informed at every stage. The staff were excellent, we could not fault them in any way.
Having worked in care homes for 30 years, I can honestly say it's the best home I've ever been into.
The entertainment is excellent, excellent food, 5 stars. Many thanks! "Our Mum is happy"
Thank you so much for your kind words. It means the world to us to know that your Mum feels safe, happy, and settled in. Our team is truly dedicated to providing the best care, and your feedback is a wonderful encouragement. We're delighted that you enjoy the entertainment and food, and we're honored to be considered the best home you've visited. Many thanks for your support!
I can not fault this care home, nothing is too much trouble, and any questions are answered with honesty. Food is very good, and the staff are all very helpful. We were told to look upon the room as if it were her own, we brought photos etc., and the staff had them put up on the walls, this care home cares!
Mum and Dad were both referred to Hunters Down after both receiving terminal diagnoses and short stays in hospital at the end of 2024. I cannot recommend Hunters Down highly enough. The care that they both received was fantastic: all staff were attentive - both admin and medical staff: professional, friendly and respectful. My parents soon settled into care home life despite their illnesses. When visiting Mum and Dad, I was ALWAYS made to feel welcome. Often I had questions to ask, and felt that I was able to do this and no query was too big or too small. The home staff work really hard to provide entertainment for the residents and provide a varied timetable of events. The home is well presented, clean and comfortable. Sadly, Mum and Dad both passed away whilst they were resident, but the staff could not have done more for me and my family. Nothing was too much trouble. Everything was dealt with sensitively and with compassion - I cannot thank you enough.
Hunters Down is a lovely home; impossible to sum up in a few words. It had everything I wished for in providing care to a vulnerable, loved one. I can't recommend it highly enough.
The dedicated and professional team always treated him with kindness, respect and patience; often greeted by him with a smile. This was extended to family and friends too.
During his final few weeks the nursing care was exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble to ensure his comfort. This meant so much. Thankyou to you all. Forever grateful.
My nan has been in the care home, Hunters Down for over a year now. I have visited many times and my nan is always happy every time I visited her. She said that the carers are always helping her and are always friendly and kind. She also said that she enjoys the activities in the care home, My dad told me that the management is approachable and that they can talk to them anytime about my nan's care. I can recommend Hunters Down.
Mothers care since first coming into the home to date, has been excellent. All the staff from management, carers + reception have been wonderful and as a family we could not have asked for more.
Giving residents a place to call home, with great activities thanks to the lifestyle co-ordinators.
Hope all the staff keep up the hard work, and keep doing a great job.
