View Full Details of Stubby Leas Nursing & Residential HomeI am very pleased with the care my Husband is receiving at Stubby Leas. The staff are consistently warm, kind, and attentive to his needs. It gives me a real peace of mind to know he is in good hands. He has been at Stubbys for 8 months, all the staff have taken their time to get to know not only my husband but us as a family, providing care that feels personal and respectful. Whenever I visit the atmosphere is calm and welcoming with the kettle always on and the biscuit tin full. In the short time he has been at Stubbys they have gone above and beyond to ensure my husband is settled and content, nothing is ever too much trouble. We truly appreciate the home from home feeling that is provided . Knowing he is safe, supported and treated with care, dignity means a lot to me.
Mom is 12 months into her stay at Stubby Leas. We have nothing but praise for the management & wonderful caring staff .Mom has the best care we could wish for .we as a family have continued support from a great team.
Truly magical place. Staff are so warm, friendly and helpful. They all really care about all the residents. Dad is safe and cared for. We love coming to see him and feel content that he is in a truly caring and amazing home.
My Mother is a resident at Stubby Leas and it's the best home you could ever wished for your loved one. The staff are the most caring people and go above and beyond making sure my Mothers needs are met. They are quite simply amazing. Her personal care is outstanding, the food is very good. The activities team are always on hand entertaining the residents. I feel totally at ease and confident knowing my Mother is in such capable and compassionate care.
On visiting a very dear friend, I found that he was well looked after we could sit in the lounge and have a conversation with him over a cup of tea. The staff were extremely pleasant with us. I am only sad that I have to visit him at this time.
My dad was taken ill in 2024. Since then he has been to 6 different places. Hospitals, assessment places, a care home and now Stubby Leas Nursing Home. He has been there since 17th December 2024. From the moment he arrived myself and family have been so impressed with the care and professionalism. He is always spotlessly clean and well cared for. Every need is met. Every single member of staff are so pleasant. Nothing is too much trouble whether it's for my dad or us a family. Stubby Leas has done more for my dad in 9 weeks than all the other places put together in 9 months. I am so pleased that this is now my dad's forever home. We as a family are as settled as my dad is and eternally grateful for there care, support and kindness shown to my dad and us.
Dad was admitted to Stubby Leas in January 2024, with dementia that included mobility and communication issues. His level of care required 1-to-1 attendance at all times. Immediately upon arriving at Stubby Leas, it was palpable of the level of calm and engagement within the home. He did not take long to settle, despite the incidences of reluctance to comply with assistance regarding his comfort, meals and hygiene. Whilst it was clear to us that his condition often meant he was a challenge to the staff, at no time did we ever perceive that he was unsettled, frightened or unhappy at being in the home. Staff and management were open and honest as to challenges he had brought to them, any positive actions and activities he had achieved, and responsive to any queries that we put forward. We visited often throughout the week, and always felt welcomed. When we lost Dad in December, the outpouring of love and respect for him was clearly shown. We are in no doubt of the good care they gave.
My mum spent her final 18 months at Stubby Leas Nursing and Residential Home, initially it was a difficult adjustment for us all and my mum struggled to adapt due to dementia. However, the people there showed incredible compassion and support that helped her and my dad cope, especially on visits. Towards the end of her life the dedicated care and treatment she was afforded was incredible and many of the staff took time out to come to her funeral. We're extremely grateful that a difficult time was made much more comfortable by the staff.
Mum has been in the home since February 2021, she was very poorly when she was sent there from hospital. The home have cared for Mum and she is now very well. The staff are always kind and caring towards her, they are always available to chat and to answer any questions we may have. The home always have lots of things happening to keep the residents active. They keep us informed of any health issues I would just like to thank everyone for all the care they give to Mum.
When your loved one suffers from dementia the last thing you want to do is add to their confusion. However, my family felt we had no other choice than to move my step-dad from Stubby Leas for his own physical safety (and my mother's mental well-being), so you can draw your own conclusion as to how incredibly bad things were there. This place (sorry I can't call it a home) is owned and 'managed' by unscrupulous people who repeatedly insist they are totally blameless and beyond criticism. However in reality, believe me, nothing could be further from the truth.
After a very long, hard twelve months and three care homes down, our mother arrived at Stubby Leas (with her four children in tow!) to the warmest of welcomes. We couldn't believe the instant change in Mom's behaviour and she soon settled into the loving caring environment. ALL members of staff show such compassion and care for the residents and it is an enormous relief for us as a family knowing that Mom is in good hands, in a safe environment and getting the proper care she deserves. Mom is always clean and well-presented, the home-cooked food is superb and most of all Mom gets the attention that she relishes in. Mom is never short of visitors and we are all made to feel welcome whilst giving us space to spend quality time with her. We as a family can't thank you enough for your continued support and for the love and care Mom receives. Thank you.
Dad has been in Stubby Leas since December 2022. From the day I met the staff when he was transferred from another home, I noticed that they actually really cared about my dad, comparing them to the awful staff at the previous home. I have never had any concerns, I know he is in good hands. The nursing staff have always contacted me if there is the slightest concern about Dad's health etc. Having been in the home for numerous visits, you get a feel of a place, Stubby has got a good vibe, the staff do their best and take pride in their jobs and I cannot thank them enough.
My mom has been a resident since May 2021 admitted during Covid what I can say since that time and for the last few years is that she is very much loved by staff and is safe. The relief I feel knowing that she is safe and cared for helps me deal day to day as anyone with a relative in care will know. All staff from management, care staff, nursing staff, activity ladies (fabulous) and kitchen staff are absolutely fantastic they treat my mom with dignity and respect and they are available to us as family members all the time and they are I would say, my extended family. The activities they put on daily and the family events are amazing. Any issues are dealt with promptly. They really go above and beyond.
My stepdad was let down very badly by this home. He suffered a really nasty leg injury which the home could (or would) not explain which was extremely worrying. As a result he was bed-bound for a month and this caused his mental state, which was already extremely fragile, to massively decline. There were also "allegations" although not fully proven and dismissed by the care home and it's management team of: my stepfather's snacks being taken by staff: a staff member "possibly" causing my stepfather to be more alert to take his medication. On top of the poor care given to my stepfather. My mother was also clearly distressed and upset at misplaced promises of improvement by the managers. This is just one example of the many instances of wrong-doing at this home. The management are just awful in every conceivable way. My mother and I moved him to another home which could not be more different, thank goodness I am also not surprised by the sudden increase of "positive" reviews..?
My husband has been a resident since December 2023 and settled in quickly due to the care and friendliness of the staff. The booking system for visiting works well and means we can have a comfortable private visit. All questions we have had, both medical and care-driven, have been answered promptly and professionally. We also value proactive communication; being kept informed and updated without having to ask. The building and gardens are secure and comfortable, the catering smells delicious and he clearly enjoys the meals on offer. The respect shown to my husband is invaluable; the staff have taken time to learn about his life and career and adjusted to what he prefers and needs to feel comfortable. The home smells like a home, rather than a clinical setting which is reassuring. As a family, we have been relieved of a great deal of worry and heartache by knowing he is safe and looked after at Stubby Leas.
My mom has been a resident at Stubby Leas Nursing & Residential Home for almost 2 years! From the moment she arrived, she became more relaxed and her dementia behaviour improved vastly! This is all due to the wonderful carers who have ensured that they get to know my mom's every care need. The entertainment staff are fabulous and always provide activities that we only dreamt that Mom would choose to participate in. The nursing staff are so caring and always keep us up to date with Mom's health. The management and admin team are second to none, they ensure that everything is provided for. All staff treat us as a family with the utmost respect and we now feel that we have all become firm friends! We as a family would have no hesitation in recommending Stubby Leas and we find so much comfort in knowing my mom has the best care possible! Thank you everyone!
We have now managed to get my husband moved from Stubby Leas after 18 months of ongoing complaints to the lack of care and safeguarding caused whilst residing at this property! My husband's wrist was fractured in November 2023, not put in the accident book, left for a week in agony but due to my insistence he was finally X-rayed which showed a fractured wrist! Absolutely appalling behaviour on the management's behalf. He had to go through such a distressing situation, whilst not understanding what was happening to him because of his advanced dementia! The manager and general manager leave a lot to be desired in their honesty and integrity towards anyone who questions their ability to look after their residents in a professional manner. When I raised concerns about my husband's welfare I was called a liar and ordered off the property, if I didn't comply the manager threatened me with the police. 78 years of age and threatened with the police, can you imagine how that made me feel?
Despite his advanced dementia, me and my family made the difficult decision to move my husband to another home to ensure his safety as we felt we had no alternative. If you complain they 'cover up' their mistakes. To say that it is run unprofessionally is an understatement. I cannot recommend this home to anyone after our woeful experience.
