Thickthorn Orchards, Kenilworth, CV8 2AF
View Full Details of Kenilworth Manor Nursing HomeWhat can I say? It's a typical converted manor house, genteel but slightly faded as these places are. I stayed for a week after hip surgery and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were all superb, under pressure but smiling through. Literally nothing was too much trouble for them and I felt like a king for my week. I had plenty of visitors and all were looked after, with offers of refreshments on arrival. My week passed all too quickly but I will retain very happy memories of my time there. 10/10 would go again.
I visit Thickthorn Manor regularly as a volunteer to chat with residents and support various activities so my review is based on observation on there visits.
Kenilworth Manor provides excellent care in a warm and welcoming environment. The staff show respect and empathy and ensure residents feel comfortable and supported. Over the summer months, the activities have been excellent, inclusive and open to all. We all enjoyed the summer garden party, and the dog show was great fun. Special thanks to the team for these. Food is fabulous! Overall, a wonderful place that prioritises the residents' well-being.
I am extremely pleased with the care my husband is receiving at Kenilworth Manor. The staff are kind, attentive, creative, professional and truly committed to the welfare of the residents and their best interests. Every single member of the staff had made a great effort to make my husband and all of our family visitors feel welcome and important. The house and surroundings are beautiful and clearly loved. The food is magnificent. High standards prevail in all areas.
Staff go above and beyond. They are very patient with residents, and their care is warm and heartfelt. They look after visitors, always offering us food and drink, which makes visiting loved ones much easier. The rooms are clean, the furnishings are beautiful, as is the garden. Everything is well looked after. There are interesting activities for residents to take part in every day.
Kenilworth Manor is a warm and wonderful nursing home. The staff couldn't be more caring.
A very pleasant, welcoming atmosphere - all residents appeared happy & content chatting between all. Person I visited was smiling and happy. We shared tea and cake (homemade). Staff are communicative and helpful. Have visited many times over the years - different people - it has always been an enjoyable experience. Note - musical entertainment arrived! :)
Absolutely lovely place & staff, not cheap but you get what you pay for would recommend in a second. I actually worked on the extension in the 1980's when it became a care home. Looking forward to my mum being able to enjoy the garden in the summer.
Compassionate, kind and caring environment. Plenty of well-trained dedicated staff who enjoy looking after people. A relaxed family approach where the residents' needs are first and foremost. A quiet location with gardens and plenty of parking. Careful recording of food, liquid and medication done discreetly. Medication is supervised so that no doses are left behind. Residents are thanked for taking their necessary medication. High quality food is cooked by chefs on the premises and alternative dishes are offered when requested. Residents asked about the dishes they would like to see on the menu. Help with feeding is always at hand. Plenty of help with personal care. Daily programme of activities from quizzes, movement to music and animal therapy with two lovely activity coordinators available all day.
The setting provides care for my Mother who is suffering from Parkinson's and has mobility issues. Staff are friendly, caring, and respectful and try to make her as comfortable as possible. The setting has a homely and welcoming atmosphere. The staff who provide activities for the residents also go out of their way to help.
My Mother went into Kenilworth Manor as she could no longer remain at home. She has been there for 14 months. In that time she has been treated with extreme care and dignity. The staff are always friendly and go above and beyond to ensure she is well cared for and happy. All of the team without exception are very approachable and accommodating. Visitors are always made to feel very welcome.
Mum was at The Manor for just over a year. It seems like a lovely hotel on the surface but there’s serious caring/nursing going on behind. Mum especially enjoyed the food; many different kinds of fish, desserts like crumble, crème caramel, fruit jellies. Lots of choices. A great staff team; manager, nurses, carers, admin, catering, activities people, maintenance and housekeeping, in the day and at night. I felt at home and able to speak to the manager/nurses about any issues. I’d take Mum out and we’d sit in the beautiful garden. Activities at all times; crosswords, quizzes, crafts, entertainers, garden party and fete. Especially impressed by the way staff adapted to changing needs as Mum deteriorated. Struggling to eat meant food could be puréed and someone would come and help. Changing her room’s layout, adding extras to the bed to keep her safe and comfortable. More nursing. Pairs of carers. Whatever needed to be as comfy as possible. So glad she died in her own room, with people she knew and not in hospital.
My mother lived here following a stroke and for the last year my father too. It is a wonderful place, very well run and managed and has super kind supportive staff. The quality of care runs through everything from management through to caring staff, cooks, housekeepers - everyone. Both my parents had quite different needs and both were very happy and content from the time they moved into Kenilworth Manor we didn’t have to worry about them knowing they were safe and happy and we visit all the time. Great care is given to develop a community with activities and events families join in with. The nursing staff supports with medical needs and the kitchen provides what can only be described as restaurant-quality food always willing to accommodate choices. A great place to live.
My mother has been in Kenilworth Manor for just over three years. Her own father was in the home many, many years ago, and there are still a few of the same staff working there! All the staff are kind, attentive and patient. We are kept informed about Mum's general well-being and advised about any changes, both physically and mentally.
As a friend of a resident, I have found that the staff are lovely, kind and caring, creating a family-style atmosphere. Management have done an excellent job in avoiding COVID infections. The food is superb, of restaurant quality. This is important for people whose life is restricted. Visitors are welcome, and made to feel at home. The activities coordinator has done an excellent job in maintaining a good atmosphere, despite COVID restrictions, and in encouraging the residents to engage with each other. Some of the bedrooms could do with redecoration, but are kept clean, warm and comfortable.
Kenilworth Manor has a warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Staff are caring and attentive and treat residents with kindness and respect. Food is excellent and individual dietary needs are well-catered for. A weekly schedule of activities is available for residents. Staff have also organised events to include relatives, and we have appreciated being invited to a Christmas afternoon tea, a Jubilee afternoon tea and a Falconry display.
My Aunt has been in the care home for over a year and has been very well looked after. She is healthier now than before she arrived and always looks well cared for. The staff are very welcoming and the food is second to none. Would not hesitate to recommend it.
My wife has been a resident here for almost three years and I have joined her in a double room for the past two years. My wife requires specialist nursing care and I feel complete confidence in the way this care is delivered. She is treated with affection as well as professional skill. The food is excellent in quality and variety and my wife's special dietary needs are unfailingly attended to. We both enjoy the real sense of community here, supported by an excellent activities programme, thoughtfully adapted to different preferences and abilities. Our visitors are always made to feel welcome and it is a pleasure to receive them here, in our room or in the attractive garden. I am confident that where problems arise or we have special requests, the management will do everything possible to resolve or meet them.
This is a first-rate nursing home. In the last 2 years, I have NEVER heard or seen anything which makes me worried about my mother-in-law. She is looked after with compassion and good humour too. The setting is very peaceful and the gardens are well maintained. Flowers are also provided inside too. During lockdown, the staff carefully and professionally protected the residents to the best of their ability. I would definitely recommend this nursing home.
My father was at Kenilworth Manor for 2 years. The carers were very kind and got to know him well with all his little idiosyncrasies! The nurses were attentive. The chef's excellent. My only concern is the poor administration, the home are efficient in setting up your contract and prompt about taking the monies each month (in advance of care being received). However. when it comes to final settlements there is a stonewall from the administrator, manager and finance at head office. Sadly my father passed away in September 2019. We are still waiting for final settlement of our account with Kenilworth Manor. This is despite numerous phone calls to the manager, contact with head office via phone and email and raising a complaint, which has never been answered. Finally, in February 2020 we were advised of the monies owed, but now in March are still waiting for a cheque to be sent which is needed for probate. Sad and an emotionally draining experience.
