View Full Details of Barchester Sherwood Court Care HomeMum had been managed at home for 2.5 years and unfortunately her needs increased and she needed full time care to be safe. Choosing a home I found extremely difficult. Sherwood Court has looked after Mum since Dec 2024 and continues to do so. The staff are exceptional, experienced and personable. The management brilliant, knowledgeable and help you navigate the complexities. They take the time to get to know your relative and pay attention to the little things that make the difference. The unrestricted visiting, allowing my dog to visit, never a problem to give and update all invaluable. You feel your relative is safe and well cared for, which is invaluable. Fully recommend this home.
It is difficult to find the words to adequately summarise the skilled and supportive care given to our mum during her short stay here. Dedication to improving the lives of vulnerable people is incredible. Skilled caring staff in every area of the home have made Mums experience as positive as possible, given her health challenges. Thank you for everything.
The staff at this Carehome from the Top management to the Cleaners Helpers could not do enough for you . Nothing was too much and always done with a smile ....as the saying goes "they went the extra mile" A hearty congratulations to all staff for making the Residents relaxed and very happy.
Sherwood Court is an excellent care home. My sister is recuperating after a knee replacement operation and the care she has received is excellent. The staff are very caring and friendly. All her needs are catered for and she is very happy and relaxed. I would recommend Sherwood Court for anyone who is recuperating from an operation. The standards of care are very high. Every need is matched. The activities coordinator is excellent. Manager is a real star.
A BIG THANKYOU to all the staff for treating our Mum to a lovely special 92 nd birthday on Friday 20th .My two brothers had travelled up for the day from the south of England to share the day too .From the decorations to the fabulous cake and the loving attention from the staff who were working hard as usual in extreme temperatures but the atmosphere as always was cheerful and nothing was too much trouble for them .A really heart warming and an enjoyable day all round .As usual it was hard to leave her but we all felt she was in the best possible loving caring hands which is a massive relief so once again THANKYOU !!
Superb support facility. I and my sister have been impressed with the staff, I had to say this, as I supported people for 15 years as I displayed in the boxed review below.
My wife has just recently been moved to Sherwood with mixed dementia. First impressions have been good. Staff are quick to attend when asked. The room is ok if a little small, but it meets her needs. I like the food being prepared on site, it is a big improvement from her previous home. I would prefer to have 2 nursing staff, not one. There are a lot of residents for 1 nurse. The reception team are very good and I have plenty of chats with them. All in all, first impressions are good.
My husband stayed at Sherwood Court for 2 weeks respite care. During that time my husband had a few problems which the staff dealt with very well. They were always very friendly and helpful and professional, both with my husband and myself. It's not an easy time when you need respite care and you're leaving your loved one in someone else's hands, but I felt our experience there was a good one and I would use them again.
My Dad had been a resident at another local Barchester home but after a fall needed a great level of care. We were recommended to see Sherwood Court and fell in love at first sight. We felt an immediate rapport and the Manager took considerable effort to find Dad a room. Despite being 97, he has settled in amazingly well and been made to feel very welcome. The staff have been exceedingly attentive and welcoming to him and us. The level of care is superb. The facilities and grounds are really well maintained and the staff take huge pride in their roles. When we arrived, Dad hadn't eaten for 2 weeks and has taken to the food immediately. Friendly, attentive, skilled and loving. What more could I say !
My relative has been a Dementia resident at Sherwood Court for over two years, so I am in a good position to tell you all about it - I spend a lot of time there. In one word It is ''OUTSTANDING'' on every level - It is so humbling to see what challenges all the staff deal with on a daily basis and how they support one another when times can be tough, it is clear it is not just a job for them, it is one big hardworking family that love what they do. No two residents are the same, they all have differing needs. Unless like us you have to use this service for a loved one you cannot and will never appreciate what a tremendously hard job ''ALL'' the staff do. ''Everyone'' has an important role to play - Chef, Admin, Caring/Nursing, Cleaners, DIY, Manager etc To see the happy faces, the fun and enjoyment from all the residents that are clearly ''so well cared for'' this in itself is the best recommendation - Hold your heads up and be very proud! Thank you and Well Done to the Manager
After loosing Dad it became obvious to my sister and I that Mum needed 24/7 dementia care. We were supported all the way by friendly staff during the harrowing experience of having to place Mum into care. All concerns and fears were quickly alleviated as mum settled in to her new surroundings very quickly. Special mention must go to the activities coordinators for providing the stimulation Mum needs. Mum has visitors most days where we can take her for coffee and cake in the plush surroundings of the cafe.
My husband has been in Sherwood Court for over a year now and I am very happy with his care. The staff treat him (and me) like family and I find this very comforting. All the staff know him (and me) by name and again this is very reassuring. The coffee shop and reception area are really welcoming and have the best cake. The musical entertainment is his favourite activity and he actually sings along. It has taken a while but I think my husband has finally settled and I can leave each day confident that he has the best care and understanding . Thank you for making my life a little easier.
My grandad is a resident at Barchester Sherwood Court Care Home and I cannot fault the staff or care. The staff are very respectful and care for the residents as if they are their own. The manager is very approachable and cares about all her residents. I would recommend Sherwood Court to anyone who is looking for compassionate care for their loved one.
My father was at Barchester Sherwood Court Care Home from March 2024 until he sadly passed away August 2024. My father loved the nursing home and was very happy there. We all found the staff amazing. They were all very professional and delivered high standards of care. We visited daily and found the home very warm and welcoming. The coffee shop area and outside area were very lovely. My father loved the activities. The manager was excellent and the home and all staff were amazing. Thank you Sherwood Court.
My mum is a service user, and my brother and I live in Ireland so we're unable to visit very often. However we do get regular feedback - and pictures - from our sister; and it is an absolute ease to us that mum is so well cared for - including her (96th!) birthday celebration and cake she was given this last weekend. My sincere thanks to all your staff for the top class and loving care they provide for our mum
We placed my dad into respite care here, on 3rd April 2023. This is an EMI unit, suggested to us by Social Services. The same evening dad was admitted, he managed to escape from the building, within hours of us leaving. We got a call from the unit at approx 10.20pm, informing us they had called the police as they couldn't find him on the unit. He was found at approx 1.30am near Preston Docks, by the Police (4 miles away). The unit manager, at approx 2am, spoke rudely and abruptly on the phone to my mum (non-driver) asking her to collect him immediately as they could not manage him. The unit is supposed to be for challenging behaviours. We contacted the Duty Social worker, who informed us to leave him there and collect him in the morning. The next morning the unit manager mentioned that my dad must have followed a member of staff into the laundry and escaped from there. There are many doors that are coded to enter and exit the unit. This is negligence and compromised my dad's safety.
My friend is a resident of the nursing home. She has been well cared for in the home, by the nursing and care team. The management team and reception team are absolutely amazing, thank you so much for all the love and care.
Due to Covid my mum was in the wrong type of care home, but as soon as was possible she moved to Sherwood Court in October 2020. From this time she has been settled and on the whole very happy. The staff all go above and beyond to ensure that residents are looked after. Recently it was Mum's 80th birthday they organized a singer to come and dress up as Elvis (Mum's favourite singer) and they had a lovely party for her. The staff ensure that we are made aware of all chances that take place and that the residents are entertained with singing and other activities. I am so aware of the importance of good staff as in my mum's previous care home they were unable to keep Mum settled and resorted to calling us any time day or night, this has never happened at Sherwood Court. Mum is settled and if she gets upset they have some wonderful distraction techniques which work.
A well-run home due to excellent management and staff. The staff are caring and attentive, they treat my dad with dignity. We are always made to feel welcome when we visit. I wouldn't have my dad anywhere else.
Our experience as a family has been brilliant. In a time that has been extremely difficult, they have made it that little bit easier. The staff make you feel as if this is your home and part of a family. They keep you very informed and make sure the residents if able to understand. Couldn't recommend enough.
