View Full Details of St Modans Care HomeAlways feel very welcome when I come to visit. Dad is very well looked after and the staff are always very accommodating and supportive. I have had no negative experience of St Modans. The meals are lovely, the rooms are warm and comfortable and there are always social activities to keep him busy and occupied. I have nothing but praise for this establishment and all the staff who work there.
The staff are very warm, friendly, caring of the resident and patient and supportive with me as a relative. The internal building is well presented, always clean and tidy, the outside gardens are pleasant with a few seating opportunities and are lovely if out for a walk in good weather. The visiting entertainers are very good, my dad really enjoys them but I don't think there are many activity opportunities for him to try, although he may have been offered and declined. He is supported by staff in his little projects in his own room but I think spends a lot of time in his room, may of course be his choice but he is sociable. His appetite is poor and staff encourage him to try different foods but he finds the cooking smell in the dining room upsetting and has his meal in his room but reports that it is often cold. Not appetising. Staff are the biggest asset, I appreciate all their care and kindness to my dad.
We are very pleased with the care my mother has received since entering St Modans. The transition from hospital to care home was so easy and mum settled well quickly. Staff are always so caring and welcoming and I was so pleased with her care. It gives me peace of mind especially as I cannot visit mum as often as I'd like because of my reduced mobility most days. I love that we can see what mum is doing through videos on social media especially if I haven't managed to get in to visit, I was especially delighted to see my mum knitting like she did when I was a child. Can't praise the staff enough they are brilliant!
Our family looked for the correct carehome for a long time. My mum was in the hospital for a brief time so to find a suitable carehome for a loved one is very hard until my brother came to St Mondons. The staff are so helpful , friendly and cannot do enough to assist when we visit .
My Dad was a resident in the dementia unit at St Modans from January 2024 to September 2025 when he passed away. From the first time we visited the home you could see immediately how friendly the staff and management were...... always a friendly smile and a warm welcome awaited you. During Dads stay he was very well looked after in every way, always clean and tidy. The meals were excellent which he really enjoyed and his many cups of tea and delicious cake. Dad enjoyed the music and entertainment, all the activities that were available if he wanted to take part in. I have nothing but praise for every member of the St Modans team. The most kindest, supportive, caring, friendly and compassionate people. They really are "THE BEST" I would absolutely have no hesitation in recommending St Modans .
My Dad stayed at St Modans for just under 2 1/2 years before he passed away. He had mixed dementia and was in the Dementia Unit. I have nothing but praise for all the staff, the care Dad received and the support I received during his time there. His room was always clean. The meals were delicious and nutritious. He was always clean and tidy. There was always activities and entertainment to keep residents occupied should they choose to take part or attend. I was always informed promptly about any changes or incidents. I always felt welcome when visiting and the Carers always took the time to answer any of my questions and have a little chat. The compassion and care shown to Dad at the end, and the support I received made a sad time much easier. I can't thank them enough.
We wouldn't hesitate to say that our mum was so happy during her 4 and half years living in St Modans. Genuinely caring and friendly staff on the floor, always welcoming and helpful. Senior staff are always visible and approachable, always willing to listen and respond to any questions or queries. As our mum's life was drawing to a close the care, kindness and love shown to our mum was exceptional, a very peaceful passing with tremendous support for us too as a family.
My husband is a resident of St Modan's suffering from early onset mixed dementia. St Modan's rooms and communal areas are immaculate and the food is excellent. I am always encouraged to eat meals with my husband to sustain social interactions. My husband is extremely well looked after, being supported with personal care on a daily basis with clothes regularly laundered. The staff have developed a very positive relationship with my husband and they encourage him to socialise and take part in the varied activities provided. This is especially important to me as I work full time and it's very comforting to know he is so well looked after both socially and medically. I would also like to commend St Modan's social media page. Our daughters stay abroad and it's great for them to see their dad having fun and being happy. All staff have been so welcoming and supportive and we cannot thank them enough for the care shown.
My husband is in St Modans Care Home in nursing. He is well looked after he has vascular dementia. I have found the home so very kind to myself as well. I spend every afternoon with my husband and stay for supper. I help with his care at times e.g. toileting, not all the time though only when necessary. I would recommend the home and care to anyone who asks.
My dad has now been in the home for 3 years. He has excellent care by all the staff at St Modans. He is well looked after, always clean and well cared for in every way. The meals they get are excellent and there is an abundance of food. St Modans doesn't just care for my dad but they have been so good to us all, always friendly and caring. They care for my mum who is there every day visiting my dad. They would look out for her and are so kind to her as well. A very friendly and homely place to be.
I find St Modans Care Home a very helpful and friendly place. The staff are very obliging, helpful and also very caring for the residents. I have no hesitation in recommending this care home. The setting and gardens are beautiful too.
My dad unfortunately recently passed away in St Modans. He was a resident for 8.5 years, initially with my mum until her death in 2021. They were both extremely well cared for, living with Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia. My dad was 95 years old on his death and I truly believe that he lived till this age because of the standard of care he was receiving at St Modans. The staff's high quality of care, dedication and professionalism is outstanding. Also, the genuine kindness which myself and my family received from the staff was and will remain very comforting. We are very grateful and give sincere thanks and appreciation to all staff members.
My relative appears to be quite settled at St Modans. She is a very private lady and does not speak much of her experiences in the home. However, she has had issues in the past with a fellow resident entering her room, and this was satisfactorily resolved. More recently, she has been bothered by a gentleman entering her room, but nothing untoward happened, and I believe this has not been repeated for a couple of months now. We are disappointed with a few things we have noted during our visits - namely - the emergency call button is quite often out of her reach. The hearing aid (one lost within the home) has been fitted with dead batteries. Obviously, soiled and no means of contacting staff, refer to the call button comment above. She also does not like bothering the staff, which is another reason why she may be sitting and soiled. Quite often find her clothes lying on the bottom of the wardrobe. Above are the reasons for giving the home a satisfactory review - just a few minor issues stop a higher rating.
My mum has been a resident in St Modans since April 2023. The level of care provided by the staff is fantastic. The management and staff are genuine, caring people who bring forward new ideas to enhance experiences for the residents. The support groups provided are very helpful and help us to gain further knowledge and understanding of Mum's diagnosis. I feel the staff treat individuals with dignity and respect and look after Mum's welfare in a sensitive and caring way. Mum enjoys the entertainment and loves to hear the music being played by local musicians. The care home has recently been refurbished with new furniture in the sitting area, which makes it look welcoming and homely. The meals are cooked on-site and enjoyed by all. When I leave Mum, I know that she is in capable hands, and the care home becomes part of our family too.
Although I have put in the month of November, this is a review overall. My experience and see this in staff are very aware of their service user needs conditions. If there is anything wrong with my family member, I am informed right away. I get to visit and assist with meals. I am always treated well, with respect and my family members. If you need to bring up something, they are there to listen. Then put forward if needed. If issue, they listen, and it is dealt with. I find it hard as my family member is nonverbal mostly, and most times does not know me. Staff always make me feel comfortable and welcome and understand this
In my experience of visiting or phoning the care home, everyone who I have seen/phoned has been more than helpful. From the staff in the office to the staff on the floor, any problems I have had have been dealt with, either straight away or for the next time I visited. Staff have always phoned if there have been any problems or to inform me regarding flu jabs/dentist.
My mother has been resident in St Modans Care Home for a couple of years now. We had her moved after concerns over the level of care being received at her previous home. The level of care she receives is excellent, with the staff all being attentive and caring. The atmosphere in the home is very good, with the management being very visible with new ideas being put forward to enhance the experience of the residents. Very happy with the level of care received.
All good, no issues. Dad seems happy, and the family are happy. Extremely expensive though, but it is what it is. We are happy. The food seems good, and the staff seem excellent. Not much more to say.
Staff have all the information required, are prepared and are excellent in informing exactly any current or recent health or other issues/concerns. Staff are to be complimented on the professional way they deal with any issues/concerns and on the promptness in which they are dealt with.
Never had any issues. A very well-run home where the residents are well looked after. The home is clean and tidy. Staff are always attentive and helpful and approachable. The manager is also easy to speak to and discuss matters with.
