View Full Details of Carrickstone House Care HomeCarrickstone House Care Home are amazing, it is always clean & never smells bad. The staff are all brilliant and go above & beyond to help, but also are very good at giving space & privacy. All staff are great from reception to care & cleaning staff.
I visit 3 friends in various care homes in the area and I have to say Carrickstone is by far the most superior. The first impression from the reception staff to the carers and nursing staff is a welcoming and helpful one. As a retired nurse I can not fault anything I have seen. Everyone is treated with care respect and dignity. Residents are happy and look upon the place as home. Residents and family and friends are kept well informed as to treatments being given. Well done to all staff including cleaning and maintenance on a very well run establishment.
My mother has been in Carrickstone House Care Home since April 2025, she suffers from Alzheimer's and other health issues, home care plan was not adequate to look after my mother at her home address, family and mother agreed that mother needed 24 hour care in a care home. We visited 5 care homes in the surrounding areas, Carrickstone was far better than anywhere else. Professionalism by all staff is unbeatable, great teamwork, happy staff and very respectful to residents and family and friends, peace of mind. Unfortunately the care home mini bus has not been on the road for many months which was godsend to help residents get out into the public , see different areas and get fresh air, the manager is taking this up with the Lloyd the CEO.On another issue the puddings were taken off the menu at meal times seemingly due to wastage, i informed care home that elderly residents some times need this as they may not be big main meal eaters , they have informed me that the pudding are now offered at a later stage in the day to see if residents are wanting them, but i'm still waiting to see or hear of this happen.Thank you.
Carrickstone is excellent for cleanliness, staff are helpful and food is basic but nutritious and plentiful, my weight has increased. Residents could be doing more communication with staff, but they are all so busy. Entertainment needs to be prompted.
I consulted with my father and family members before I wrote this review, therefore it reflects his view and those of his family. My father moved into the Eastfield Unit in Carrickstone Care Home earlier on this year and so far it has been a positive experience. His quality of life has greatly improved. Doctors, dentists, opticians, chiropodists etc have all visited him, with resulting timely treatment and follow-up. The burden of frequent phone calls and visits (sometime including stressful long journeys) to other healthcare facilities has been greatly reduced. In addition to this, and more importantly, are the interactions between my father and the staff at Carrickstone. He is treated with respect and as an individual. These staff members include those from all departments within the home (catering, housekeeping, carers, nursing, administration, maintenance and activities staff). We have felt a sense of belonging and reassurance that my father is in good and caring hands.
All staff are friendly and welcoming, rooms are clean and tidy entertainment staff are very proactive my mum is very happy and cared for but we have just recently been asked to bring in snacks for her I strongly feel these should be provided by the care home along with more fresh fruit and juice throughout the day , I do however take biscuits and chocolates , coffee up for her at every visit. The turn over in the washing is slow I believe they have had issues with the washing machines, hopefully that has been resolved.
My mother-in-law was admitted to Carrickstone, Balloch unit, directly from hospital at the beginning of August. Our family had no experience of care homes. The staff in the Balloch unit; management, doctor, nurses, carers and ancillary staff, did everything possible to make a difficult time, easier for everyone. From day one, my mother-in-law was treated with compassion and respect. She was made to feel loved and cared for by this fantastic group of people. She passed away peacefully and with dignity on the 8th of October. Staff members attended her funeral service. It is impossible to explain just how grateful we are to this amazing group of people. Although it was for a relatively short time, we were members of what felt like a loving extended family. Thank you all.
My father-in-law was in Carrickstone Care Home for a few months up until he passed away on 25th September 2023. From the manager to the nursing staff and carers we cannot fault his care. Very professional service, but also caring and personal to our father/father-in-law. He was in the Eastfield Unit and it was always very clean and well maintained. The staff treated us like family and could joke with him, as he had a good sense of humour even when being grumpy. We were treated with such respect before and after his passing, with staff members coming to say their goodbyes. Thank you all at Carrickstone.
Mum is well looked after and has been in good spirits and good health lately. Her room is clean and when visiting the team are caring and attentive. Engagement and approvals are expedient and empathetic and I’m kept up to date with things going on in the care home regularly.
We feel so lucky to have our mum cared for in the Eastfield Wing of Carrickstone House Care Home. A year ago we had never heard of this care home but my mum was admitted through the NHS offsite program as we were looking for permanent care and we decided to keep her here. Our mum is 93 with dementia so we needed a home with a high level of care and we don't think we could have found better than here. The nursing and care staff are unbelievably kind and patient with the residents. Even when they don't know we can hear or see them, their kindness and patience shine through. We find their communication excellent and when things happen they call and tell you. One thing of particular note is the cleanliness of the place. There is almost continuously a cleaning program place being undertaken with the cleaners and their trolleys roaming the corridors. They do an excellent job. Thanks to all the staff who have given my mum such an outstanding level of care.
My mum has been a resident in Carrickstone Care Home for six months. She has been treated really well during that time. All carers and nurses are kind and considerate to my mum. They have taken the time to get to know my mum really well and are always able to answer any questions we ask. As a regular visitor, I am made to feel really welcome by all staff including, amongst others, office staff, activities staff, catering staff, cleaning staff, nurses, carers and also the management staff. I found it really hard to take the decision to place my mum into a care home. However, it is of great consolation to me to know my mum is being treated with kindness.
We are delighted with the care my mum is receiving from Carrickstone House Care Home. The staff are always so lovely with our mum. Her room is always spotless and my mum always looks nice and clean. No complaints! They really do take a large weight off our shoulders!
Our mum moved from home into Carrickstone House Care Home’s Dullatur wing in October 2020. Her room is beautifully decorated and has a lovely outlook onto the inner courtyard with a patio door and we have enjoyed some sunny afternoon visits there with residents thoughtfully wearing sun hats. The team in the Dullatur wing recognise social groups and supports my mum to connect with the ladies in whose company she is most comfortable. Mum has her hair professionally styled once a week and has her newspaper delivered daily - sometimes she even reads it! A chiropodist visits regularly and Mum often gets a manicure and her nails painted at the activity group. There is a private Facebook page with updates and pictures of activities and outings (where approval has been given) showing the joy and enthusiasm of both residents and caregivers. It is never easy when a family member’s condition causes admission to a care home to be necessary but our mum has settled well with the team who have a genuine affection for her.
The level of genuine care and compassion the staff in Carrickstone House Care Home show to all the residents is just exemplary. I would recommend the home to anyone who wanted to place a parent in care with complete confidence.
I cannot emphasise the quality of care my dad received in the Balloch wing of Carrickstone House Care Home. The staff are professional caring and friendly. Beginning with entering the home we as a family were cared for. Nothing was too much bother. All staff whether nursing, ancillary or auxiliary cared. This was obvious by the cleanliness of the home to the relaxed demeanour of the other patients reflecting their sense of being looked after by exceptional people who loved their job. Congratulations Carrickstone and many, many thanks.
Pleased with all care my aunt receives and is well looked after in this lovely care home. Lovely staff and management keep me well informed as to her welfare at all times and are courteous with all guests on visiting.
Excellent care provided for my mother, this in turn gives the family confidence that our mother is being well looked after. The staff are so caring and understanding of my mother's needs. Mum tells us how good and plentiful the food is.
My wife is very well cared for by everyone and I am treated as one of the family when I visit, she is always very well dressed when l visit and the carer has taken care and time to do the best for her. There is a very good atmosphere in the home due to the attention given to everything by the staff.
Mum has been in Carrickstone Care Home, Dullatur Unit since September 2020. In the first year of the Covid outbreak, it was hard for everyone but we were able to see Mum through the window and with the help of the carers/nurses they were able to connect us to Mum on her phone and also video calls. We have moved on now and we are able to move about the home more freely. She is able to get out and meet her friends and family. Mum is a very sociable person and is able to participate in many of the activities which I am also made very welcome at. From entering the home I am made so welcome by every member of staff. Mum is treated with great respect for her 94 years and is thriving on the excellent care. All the Covid jabs are given out and also a chiropodist, doctor, hairdresser, dentist and optician are regular visitors to the home.
I am very pleased with the service and care my mum receives. The entertainment is excellent as my mum loves this part of her care. All the staff are all very nice and caring for my mum. I think the favourite part of my mum's care is when they take her out for trips to local garden centres.
