View Full Details of Abbeyfield Speedwell CourtSpeedwell Court is fantastic. The staff are kind, professional and extremely caring, always treating my mum and residents with dignity and respect. The home is clean and very welcoming, which gave us, as a family, peace of mind knowing Mum was so well looked after. I would certainly recommend Speedwell as they've gone above and beyond to look after Mum.
Mum was sadly only a resident at Abbeyfield Speedwell for 9 days. However the care that mum received at every level from the admin staff, medical staff, housekeeping and nursing staff was excellent in every respect. The staff were very kind and caring to me as well, and I was without a doubt that when I was not there the excellent care continued.
Speedwell carers go above and beyond to make residents' lives as happy and fulfilled as they can be. Birthdays are always celebrated with a cake provided by Speedwell. Mum was 94 last week and the carers made her day extra special with accommodating a good numbers of us visitors, providing a room for us and generally making her afternoon memorable with kind words and deeds. Thank you so much.
The staff in all roles and positions are very kind and friendly, using residents' names and knowledge of their preferences and needs to care for them with compassion and skill. Recent additions to the ground and activities teams are improving the environment and experience for residents and made the home a pleasant place to live. I am confident that my mother feels secure and comfortable, and despite considerable dementia, appreciates the care and contact with others that she receives.
My Nan moved to Speedwell Court early 24. From the start the care was exceptional. The home itself has amazing facilities including a cafe, cinema and various activities rooms. The most important thing for my Nan though was the garden. A market gardener when she was young, she had grown fresh produce and used it in her cooking all her life and Speedwell had the same ethos. They encouraged and facilitated her continuing to do what she loved safely. She grew vegetables there and there was even a 'cooking station' set up for her to make fresh pasta and sauce with the chefs acting as her sous chefs! Incredibly individualised and person centred care! There were events for every holiday and most week ends with games, visiting bands, even a visiting farm! My Nan was very social and loved to laugh and thoroughly enjoyed the activities but even more importantly she was cared for by the staff holistically, with kindness and respect and with her wishes at the forefront of any decisions made.
I have been very impressed with the care shown and given to my godparent. They show kindness, consideration and are always keen to ensure they are dealt with, with dignity. There is a positive attitude to everyone in the household, and this is echoed in the decor and furnishings, which are all maintained to the highest standard. As a visitor, I always feel welcomed and the staff help me feel supported, as well as my godparent.
The service Speedwell Court provides is quite marvellous I have absolutely no complaints at all. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and caring. I am delighted with every aspect of the care my husband gets.
Having had experience dealing with several care homes over the years, Speedwell Court is outstanding in all aspects and by far the best home I have dealt with. I can't fault the level of care my father received during his stay. The staff are excellent, take a personal interest in the welfare of the residents and kept me notified straight away of any issues that occurred. Although his stay was only short-term, I would have no concerns if he had to return full-time. Thank you for all your help.
My mum has been a resident at Abbeyfield Speedwell Court since May 2022. The care and compassion she has received has been exemplary. I would have no reservations about recommending Speedwell Court. I am always welcomed wholeheartedly and treated like one of the 'Speedwell family', I can rest knowing my mum is being very well cared for.
We were very pleased with the care my father received in the last two years of his life at Speedwell Court. This has been exemplary and we very much appreciate the work and dedication of all the staff. Thank you.
On May 24th my cousin, who suffers from extreme anxiety received a hip replacement. Speedwell Court provided the respite which was booked for two weeks initially. My cousin is very difficult and the carers dealt with her extremely professionally even though she attacked two of them when they tried to get her into the shower. As my cousin failed to recover from her operation within two weeks, we needed to extend her stay at Speedwell for a further two weeks. This was done instantly and efficiently without any problem at all. Everyone at Speedwell was very cheerful and friendly. The care home is beautifully furnished and clean and reminded me very much of a fine hotel. I would highly recommend Speedwell Court to anyone looking for a top of the range care home with first class care.
My sister and I are very pleased by the way our mother is being looked after by Speedwell Court. The staff are lovely, caring and responsive to individual needs, the home is spotlessly clean, there are lots of activities for the residents and the range of facilities available is very good.
My wife's grandmother has been taken care of really well since February by the lovely care team staff who need praise and recognition for their great work! The building (inside and out) is clean, tidy and fresh every time we visit. The programme of varied activities available is fabulous. We are grateful to all, keep up the good work!
The Speedwell Court facilitiy is superb. The premises are more like a comfortable hotel than a residential home. My sister is the happiest we have seen her for some time. The carers are clearly happy and are gentle and considerate. It is a relief that my sister is safe, appropriately and professionally cared for. I cannot praise Speedwell Court enough. I would recommend Speedwell Court for anyone with dementia needs.
All management and staff are always attentive to residents and family members, making everyone feel at home. The home provides a lot of entertainment and events for residents and families to attend, and a lot of effort is put into arranging events. The home is always very clean and cleaners obviously do an excellent continuing service. Care staff deal with any problems if they occur i.e locating lost items of clothing, reassuring anxious residents, also providing some reassurance to families. Respect, care and privacy is given to everyone. Excellent home and care, everything you want for your loved one. Would be better if they had a larger facility/room area for social events as can be very tight on space.
Every time I visit my friend at the care home the staff are very welcoming, friendly and full of joy. It's really a pleasure to visit a well-run care home which my friend enjoys being there.
Having a look around the care home, it looks very good. If it comes to it, we would very likely consider using it. At the moment we go for dementia meetings and lunch once a month, which are very good and and helpful for meeting people and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
This home is efficiently run with pleasant and approachable staff who are very helpful. It is well-kept and extremely clean. It has a viable kitchen garden with rare breed chickens for interest within a large and relaxing garden. I have been given a conducted tour of the home which is very well facilitated. Community lunches have been sponsored which along with community singing for residents and visiting dementia people is of great support. It allows the exchange of views and experiences. This is associated with a certain organisation. All of this gives huge relief to carers and relatives suffering alike.
I recently attended a Valentine's lunch with my father. A huge amount of effort and care had been expended to provide a delicious lunch in attractive surroundings. I would be hesitant to take my father out from Speedwell Court, as he is very confused these days, so it was lovely to be able to go and share a special meal with him. The staff are always ready to go the extra mile to make their resident's lives as pleasant as possible.
Finding a suitable care home for someone you love can be a very difficult experience as it’s a hugely important decision to make. Having visited very many, I knew immediately that Speedwell Court was the one. Warm, cosy, bright and cheerful and most importantly, clean, I knew my Mum would approve. The staff were sympathetic and helpful and in general, very nice individuals. On arrival in the foyer I was often met with the sound of happy residents singing along to some old favourite tunes and the activity coordinators were dedicated to providing a happy day for all. The large garden area was easily accessible and nicely maintained with chickens roaming the grounds which gave it a homely touch. The pretty cafe beside the garden area offered tea and coffee for all. The sensitivity and care shown by staff at the end of my Mum’s life was exemplary. They treated Mum and my family with the greatest of respect and allowed us the privacy we needed at such a sad time for which I am truly grateful.
