View Full Details of Elstow Manor Care HomeMum was in Elstow Manor for 3.5 years. During this time her Alzheimer's journey progressed, taking her from being quite active to becoming bedbound and no longer able to feed herself, depending on the staff 100% for all her needs. The staff were always professional, caring, respectful and attentive to her increasing support needs, carrying out her personal requirements with dignity. After a couple of brief spells in hospital in November 2024 (where she looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights) she quickly returned to her usual contented self once back in her room. Smiling in recognition to faces and voices of home makers and nursing staff she knew. We made the right choice in selecting Elstow Manor for her last few years, and I will always be thankful for the love, care, comfort and attention she received from everyone there.
Every effort is made by all the team to make the stay as pleasant, friendly and welcoming as possible. The facilities and activities are well-planned and excellent. The home is spotlessly clean throughout, and the choice of food and quality is first class. So pleasing to see residents comfortable and content.
Always a welcoming visit when I visit my uncle. Reception is a joy, lovely team who are so friendly. My uncle speaks highly of the team of carers and we have found everything dealt with properly and efficiently in a caring way when necessary. Facilities are excellent throughout from the cinema to the restaurant.
This is an attractive welcoming home. The staff are delightful and (mostly) hard working. The food seems good and the entertainment programme is varied and interesting. Accommodation is pleasant and rooms are spacious. I would like to see them cleaned more regularly as dad's room often has an unpleasant odour. Fortunately dad isn't aware of this and is very happy about Elstow Manor.
Mum is safe and well looked after despite her challenging behaviour. The staff work hard to engage her in activities and provide her needs. Everyone is always very welcoming when we visit and mum is generally happy and less anxious than she used to be.
Our mum has advanced dementia and can be very stubborn. The staff at Elstow Manor have managed to get mum involved with activities and manage her personal care as well as they can without creating unnecessary stress for mum. We always feel very welcome at the home when visiting, and someone is always on hand to help or discuss any issues.
The staff at Elstow Manor looked after my mum very well, with their help, love and support. We always felt very welcome and part of the Elstow Manor family when visiting mum, thank you to you all.
Prior to my arrival at Elstow, I had been suffering periods of stress, anxiety and doubt about my ability to cope. I have been here nearly a year and have had most of my difficulties resolved. All due to the calm, patient and continuing care in sometimes the most difficult situations. We are allowed to manage on health and welfare at our own pace, but are there for you if you feel extra support. I am very happy here and feel I am at home.
A well run clean care home with friendly caring and attentive staff. Excellent facilities with lots of activities and outings are offered to the residents which are really appreciated.
I had to jump on a leave a review of Elstow Manor Care Home. My great uncle has been at the manor for a almost 2 years now and he has been so happy since coming. He's never been a sociable person but he's really come out of his shell since being at The Manor, I look forward to my Fridays when I come to visit him. The staff are all super friendly and I almost feel like part of the 'family' so lovely. There's always something interesting to do, even my uncle you doesn't feel like doing it and it's difficult not to get swept up in the excitement as big events approach like the summer fete and Christmas party. I often wish I could have a room here myself!
My uncle has never been so well or lived such a full life for many years. The team at Elstow are amazing people - dedicated, compassionate and professional. We are so happy my uncle managed to secure a place here.
Very caring home. Excellent staff, attentive and professional. Facilities are excellent, clean and very residents friendly. There appears to be a wide range of activities. My father has been very happy here and well cared for.
Dad has been made to feel very welcome and secure. The staff are friendly and helpful. He has made good progress in his recovery. Dad's room is very comfortable and he enjoys having easy access to its facilities. The communal rooms are just a short walk for him and he has enjoyed meeting others in the dining room and bistro areas. He has not yet felt able to join in activities. Hopefully, this will follow when his ability to hear improves.
My father has been living with dementia at Elstow Manor for nearly 2 years. He always reports he is well cared for and everyone is very kind and helpful. As a relative, I have found the staff to be caring, kind and responsive. There are many activities available and outings are offered. My father is encouraged to take part but his choices are always respected. The nursing staff keep us informed of any changes to his health.
I felt at home from my very first day at Elstow Manor. Friendly residents, friendly and helpful staff. A room with en suite facilities plus the chance to use, with the company of a staff member, a very plush bath - I felt like royalty! Whilst residents tended to head for their free time (the lounge was very quiet) to their own rooms. The activities sessions were well attended and good in their content so time to mix. These sessions were good in their content/organisation. The singer was very well led by talented musicians, craft sessions kept us busy from knitting to painting, games sessions such as bingo, exercises, and the introduction to various animals, from an owl to a performing dog. The food is well cooked but could sometimes be a little more exciting but we were certainly not left hungry. A brilliant 4 weeks,
Recently my grandparents both stayed in Elstow as they needed more care than what was available at home. Without Elstow's help from all involved my grandparents would not be back at home now. They allowed my grandad to recover after a broken ankle and my nan to gain strength and independence, they both have a long way to go still but without Elstow, we wouldn’t be where we are now. I know within a blink I could happily let them go back into the care of Elstow Manor without any concerns or worries. All the staff are amazing here and are what makes Elstow good.
The family wanted to say a big thank you for the loving care and support provided to our sister during her time with you. It was a great comfort to us all to know that she was in a safe environment, and was being well looked after. All the staff at the home have been wonderful and she always had a big smile on her face whenever they spoke to her, and she enjoyed the trips out to the garden centres and seeing the pet therapy dog each week. Thank you.
My father spent his last 18 months at Elstow given his disabilities he needed a high level of personal care. This was provided professionally with high regard to his dignity. Elstow has a modern bright feel and I can recommend it.
My Great Aunt moved here 2 months ago and I am now looking elsewhere as the basic level of care and support is falling far short consistently. Failure to issue prescribed medications, poor communication with family, she is often left in her room alone despite staff sat outside at the nurses station, reactive help issued but little evidence of proactive care (e.g. asking if she would like to get ready for bed as opposed to waiting to find her in bed half dressed later). Feels as though little effort is made to understand her interests and preferences and rather the most convenient thing for staff is what is actioned. So disappointed.
My mum stayed at Elstow Manor Care Home for respite care following her hip operation. The care and support she received were exceptional. All the staff are amazing - very patient and caring and there is a very friendly atmosphere. Mum really enjoyed all the activities and of course the lovely food! Mum was very anxious in going to the home beforehand, having lived on her own for many years, however, when the time came she didn't want to leave!
