View Full Details of Blakelands LodgeThe care provided by blakelands was excellent in every respect. The staff were kind and thoughtful. The environment was high quality and well maintained. All round a fantastic place. Couldn't have asked for better.
My aunt has been a resident of Blakelands Lodge for several months now. I am very impressed by the standard of care shown by the staff at this care home. My aunt is naturally a rather shy withdrawn person, and has Alzheimer's. She previously lived in a flat in a retirement building and had limited contact with other people, but at Blakelands Lodge she is encouraged to take part in many activities, has been on trips out and has made new friends. The high level of care she receives now has enriched her life. Staff at this care home are always willing to do that little bit extra to make the residents' lives better. They keep us as relatives well informed, through phone calls, emails and regular reviews. I honestly believe that my aunt's move to Blakelands has been thoroughly beneficial to her and has enriched her life, and also has benefitted me, as a person also getting on in years, and given me and my family peace of mind, knowing my aunt is safe, well cared for, and happy.
My elderly aunt lived in a flat in a retirement complex until May this year. However she needed more help with her daily needs, and Blakelands Lodge was recommended. After visiting Blakelands with my aunt, it was clear from then, that this was the place for her. The management and staff couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming, and from the moment my aunt stayed for a 4 week trial, she agreed, this was her next home. There are twice daily activities for all residents, and the staff at Blakelands go out of their way to include and encourage residents to take part in these activities. They include outside visits to forest centres, garden centres, etc. The staff are excellent in everything they do, and I feel reassured that my aunt is in a safe environment. The staff also give support to all us relatives in the same caring way. I've been for meals with my aunt, and the food is excellent. The care home is bright and cheerful with so much going on all the time. Thanks Blakelands.
After reviewing numerous Care Homes for my mother who has dementia, I settled with Blakelands because it was so fresh, bright and the residents look content. The staff smiled and were chatty during our visits. Eight months on and it was the best decision as Mum is happy, content & no longer lonely sitting at home. The first few weeks Mum found it difficult to settle but the staff we fantastic with her and so caring that she soon settled & found a routine that suited her. Mum loves the company of other residents & also the activities that happen each morning & afternoon, together with the summer walks & visits to the local garden centre.
Thank you for the excellent care provided by all of the staff at Blakelands Lodge. My father was always looked after with such kindness and really enjoyed the home cooked food. Also thank you for the way that you look after the relatives as well as the residents. I was always made to feel welcome and given tea and cakes when I visited and it became like my second home.
Thank you to all the staff at Blakelands for the loving care you are giving my mum. I am also incredibly grateful for the way you organised her wonderful 90th birthday celebrations and for the beautiful bouquet of flowers you gave her. My mum always said she would never go into a care home, but after a visit for respite she decided to stay and she is so happy with you all. I live abroad so knowing she is safe, well cared for, and surrounded by kindness means the world to me. Blakelands truly ticks all the boxes. Every time I come to visit it feels like seeing extended family. I cannot thank you enough.
My wife has had two spells of respite care at Blakelands Lodge and the care and respect she has been given have been excellent on both occasions. The staff are very friendly and caring and went out of their way to help both my wife and myself. I'm sure that when she next needs some respite care we will be going back to Blakelands Lodge for this. Thank you to all the staff and caters there.
My father spent 4 weeks in the home for respite care. I was away during this time but other family members expressed how well he settled with his partner and delighted with the care he received over this period.
We looked at a number of Residential homes for mum and were so pleased that we chose Blakelands. Staff amazing, helpful and caring. Facilities second to none. Mum was difficult when we first had to take her but the staff helped to settle her in and she had a wonderful time. She enjoyed the quiz and going out to the pub, as well as the animals and reptiles that were brought in. She enjoyed wine with her Dinner and made new friends. Cannot praise Blakelands high enough. Ultimate reference is that I have told my kids that when I need to go into a Residential Care Home I want to go here.
Mum put on weight and started using her walker during her 'holiday' (respite care) at Blakelands Lodge. Blakelands was more like a luxury hotel rather than a care home and my siblings and I would have been delighted if she had wanted to stay permanently. The staff were caring and wonderful with her; hoping she will be back!
My mother needed further support after a second in succession spell in hospital following a fall and ongoing health issues. Due to other family illnesses, I was unable to guarantee I could respond to middle-of-the-night calls from her emergency alarm and so looked at a variety of care homes. Blakelands Lodge was, by far, the favourite with its open and airy surroundings, and fantastic facilities - as well as staff who made her feel at home.
Excellent care home in every way. The staff are both professional and friendly. The place is always spotlessly clean and welcoming. Lots of activities are put on for the residents to enjoy and the food is wonderful. All in all, a great place for my loved one.
Very good all-around care for my aunt who now seems rested after a difficult couple of years trying to get her assessed and into a care environment and can say, after six months at Blakelands Lodge, we have made the right decision for her. The staff have a lot to deal with and give great attention both on the care and admin side and we are grateful for them.
Blakelands Lodge is a clean and modern environment which provides homely and comfortable facilities. The staff are second to none - genuinely appear happy and content in their work, are friendly, approachable and hardworking. All the same, they are able to join in with residents activities and nothing ever seems too much for them. I can only assume this is down to high standards of recruitment, management and a positive and supportive work environment.
My mum is quite a new resident. I have found the staff extremely helpful and responsive when I have had any problems settling mum. I love the community inclusion and all of the activities for the residents. I am looking forward to the better weather when Mum can get out and about or just in the garden.
Mum went into Blakelands in January and I am very impressed with the care that Mum receives. Mum is very happy there I would recommend this home to anyone looking for care for a family member. Nothing is too much trouble for the carers who are always cheerful and friendly. The management team are always available to discuss any queries service users or families may have.
Mum has been a resident at Blakelands since January 2023. She settled in remarkably quickly and we have been happy with the care she receives. The home is beautifully decorated both in terms of quality and appearance and the facilities are lovely. We are always made to feel very welcome when we visit. There are often colouring competitions for visiting children. Blakelands is getting involved in the local community, inviting a local mums and tots group in, church services from local churches, and collecting for the Heart of Marston Christmas appeal. Their regular entertainers are very good. Dad joined Mum at Blakelands in August and the staff deal with him with amazingly good humour!
My father has Alzheimer's and has been living at Blakeland's since September. My sister and I could not be more happy with his care to date at the home. The facilities are second to none, we often say it is like a 5-star hotel! Most of all, however, it is the staff who should have the most credit, as they are all amazing and the kindest most caring people we could wish for. The activities are frequent and appropriate for all, and the food is superb. Thank you so much for everything!
Blakelands Lodge are currently caring for my elderly mum who initially came for respite care but has now decided to become a permanent resident. The home has a very warm and friendly atmosphere and the staff are very kind and thoughtful. I have total peace of mind that my mum is being well cared for - thank you Blakelands Lodge.
It is hard to write a review that adequately praises Blakelands and its staff enough. The building itself is a pleasure to walk into, with accommodation much superior to many hotels, but it is the staff that make the home a home! The caring nature of the staff is the thing that stands out far above many such homes. When my aunt was dying, the sensitive, gentle care shown to her was beyond the care of duty. The whole ethos of Blakelands makes it much more than a run-of-the-mill care home. Daily activities suitable for the older generation have been carefully thought out, and the involvement of the whole community in the area is outstanding. It is part of the community and not just in it. It is obvious that bringing “mums and tots” in is a great help to those who are missing their own grandchildren and having a Saturday morning cinema for the young people fulfils a real need in the area. The regular input on the Blakelands Lodge Facebook site reveals the reality of what is written above.
