Mum has Parkinson's dementia. Mum needed respite care when my dad had a stroke. (This care started in May 25 - October 25 2025) Mum has been very confused and emotional often being very frightened by her night terrors. Mum believes her night terrors are actually real and needs a lot of support and
reassurance that she is safe. Mum and dad have been married for 71 years and to be separated from each other also took its toll on both of them. Throughout all of this the staff have been kind, caring and supportive with mum, we couldn't have asked for more

Apart from having to wait at some times to be seen when I call, due to shortage of staff, the service I get is excellent.
Due to me being profoundly deaf, some of the staff have started to learn BSL (British Sign Language) for my benefit

On arrival we were made welcome and every effort made to settle wife into her surroundings. All staff are helpful, polite and treat you with dignity. Every effort is given with a smile and nothing is too much trouble.

The staff at the home are all very friendly and accessible to discuss any worries. They are very attentive to the residents and treat them with respect. The lady who runs the activities and makes the tea is a very special person. She arranges games etc for the residents and they seem to have a great
time. I'm always greeted with a smile. Another person I think is in charge of the carers has her own office is very helpful if you need to discuss anything with her. On the whole, I am very satisfied.

My mum moved to Thorn Park in December; she is 98 years young, does not have dementia but has certain mental health problems and is profoundly deaf. She is well aware of her surroundings and can pick up on anything that’s not to her liking (so a difficult patient to say the least. It took Mum some
time to come to terms with her new home and to settle, and at times would become frustrated and find small things to complain about. The care home staff took the matter in hand by making her feel extra special and giving her help and support, and going that extra mile to please (thank you). I would have no hesitation in recommending Thorn Park to anyone looking for residential care for a loved one.

I am a neighbour who visits a lady who I checked on twice a day when she lived at home, as she had nobody else. The staff are great, very helpful and the service is good. The lady I visit is happy being there and I visit about three times a week.

The care home is well looked after and in good shape. The staff appear to be good at what they do. Also, very good to the residents but perhaps if one or two extra staff could be employed it would make life a bit easier for the others. The food is very good, with a good selection. My partner has
been a resident for six months but on observation, the working of the home is very good.

We visited our friend on Friday the 9th of July, where we found her happy, clean and well cared for. She seems to have settled very well in the home and says that the staff are lovely. I cannot answer all the ratings as she has only been there a few months and only being a friend are not applicable
to me.

I have always found Thorn Park care home to be a very lovely place. It's not too big so it gives you a family feeling. The staff are amazing, very caring and work so hard. Activities are very good. A great home, staff and management.

The staff are always very polite and caring. My husband always appears to be well cared for, and personal hygiene is attended to appropriately. The activities lady is excellent at keeping the resident stimulated and entertained. As with many care homes, the problem arises with the care of hearing
aids, involving general care and use. This is so important with elderly residents who have a hearing impairment.
