View Full Details of Allingham House Care CentreMy mother has been a resident at Allingham for over a year. I visit her almost every day (5min to 7 days a wk) at varying times. I have got to know most of the staff who care for her during days and evenings and I think they are marvellous. They are a happy and hardworking bunch and demonstrate great teamwork and professionalism. My mum is bedridden and requires high level of care (hygiene, clothing, sore prevention, general checks/occasionally one on one etc) all of which is given to highest standard. Staff understand Mum, are familiar with her past life and treat her with great care, dignity and respect. As mum's health has deteriorated and her sleeping/eating patterns have become more erratic they have worked hard to deliver required care commensurate with her needs and cope brilliantly with her when she is 'difficult' The team at Allingham have my respect and gratitude!
I've got limited intimate experience of Allingham House, but from my experience with my mum, it is a welcoming, friendly well-run, efficient, upbeat and sociable care home with very high standards of facilities, care and consideration. I would encourage you to get my mum included in as many of the great activities on offer and to take her out in the garden, etc., as much as possible. My mum used to enjoy gardening, knitting and knows the town very well - try and get her chatting to residents.
Our cousin was mainly asleep but we received a warm welcome, a cup of tea, and a chat with the carer and house manager. Home is well looked after and comfortable.
My father displayed difficult and challenging behaviour when he 1st came to Allingham House. The staff were very good and patient with him. After a few issues they settled him well. I find all staff approachable if I or any member of family need information or want to make any changes to his care plan. Well done all who work at Allingham, not just the carers but all staff. We do wish however he had a room away from the metro line as its very noisy when the windows are open.
Dad getting best care he needs. The staff are friendly & helpful in that any concerns we can approach them and they will do there best to take notice for example if dad hiding pads they check. Gave suggestion of larger bin in bathroom to see if it helps dad see bin (which they will organise straight away).
The food has not been very good for a while, it used to be alright so please go back to those days.
The care home have looked after my father for appox 2 weeks for assessment. I have found him to be well cared for during his stay. This is a difficult job and the staff have discharged their duties with care and professionalism. The doctor associated with the home has been excellent and very supportive. The care home has made a very good effort to keep the family in the loop. The staff are always helpful and welcoming to family visitors. This has been a reassuring experience.
My husband was in respite care for 5 weeks in Allingham and we were very pleased and appreciative of the care he received there. I was undergoing a hip replacement so was unable to care for him. He has dementia and found it difficult to converse with the other residents but I believe the staff encouraged him and he took part in various activities thanks to their attention and encouragement. I think he also attended a Church service there on one occasion which he enjoyed. He was always well 'turned out' when we visited and walking down the corridor to his room or to the Dining room helped to keep him mobile as well as the exercises.
My dad was in this home from 2022 until his passing June 2024. The care he received wasn't good at all. We felt like he was just another number that needed sorting out with his daily chores i.e. changing, feeding etc. No compassion for my dad as a human being. Thank god as a family we could go to see him most days but felt very sad for the residents that didn't have many family visits. I could go on and on with the treatment my dad had here in this place but it only starts to upset me when I have to think about it and what he should never have gone through.
I can't recommend Allingham House enough. Although similarly to most care homes staff were overstretched, they were just wonderful with my dad and did their best under the circumstances. The staff took time to understand my Dad's individual needs and provided personalised care. My dad had a high need for social interaction and several members of staff spent time chatting with him and helped him to call me from his mobile when he was struggling. The staff took time to help my dad continue doing what was important to him despite his deteriorating due to his illness: they helped him play the piano and go on the adapted exercise bike each day to maintain his fitness. They even took him to a different home to join in with a carol service so he could have a change of scenery and more social contact. They went to such an effort to get him to eat when his appetite failed offering different foods, considering the best portion sizes and patiently encouraging him without being forceful.
My husband could not talk or walk. 10th May seen bruising to his right eye, 12th May emailed the photos to the manager in Leeds. 13th May Home Manager and Regional Director both unhappy I sent photos to Leeds, both said they could not see bruising, Regional Manager asked if I wanted to move my husband to another care home. My reply to her, my husband is not the problem, they had investigated the outcome, he had bruising to his eye and they think he did it to himself with a soft toy Elephant Babies. My review for staff doesn't reflect all staff, some excellent, some good and poor.
My mother was recently discharged from hospital and eventually became a resident at Allingham. Several of the staff formed particularly positive relationships with my mother and she appeared to really enjoy those interactions. Getting her to smile and have a joke meant a lot to us during this time. On top of this there were other examples of responsiveness to my mum's specific interests and needs, such as watching a certain programme on catch-up, and helping her get out in the garden safely on sunny days. I was really glad my mother benefited from such a caring environment.
All round excellent service and care. Staff always friendly and attentive. The staff understood Mum's needs. The facilities were clean and tidy. The staff were welcoming to all visitors. All rooms are ensuite and a short walk to the lounge and dining area. Highly recommend.
My review for the staff doesn't reflect all staff members. Some are excellent, some good, and some poor.
I can not thank the whole team at Allingham House Care Centre enough. For over twelve months, they cared for my partner with professionalism, kindness, respect and dignity. They recognised and responded to his changing care needs and cared for/supported me when his end of life neared. The staff create a positive, welcoming and happy environment and residents are treated like a big family in a clean and well-presented environment.
All round excellent service and care. Staff always friendly and attentive. Highly recommend. All rooms are ensuite and short walk to the lounge and dining area. Can always park and lift to all floors. Well done to all staff.
My mum came to Allingham in November and has settled so well. She is so well cared and looked after, the staff are so friendly, helpful and loving. Three staff members are brilliant with mum. Too many wonderful carers to mention. Pay rise deserved!
I have been visiting my friend at this home for the past few months, I have always found the staff very friendly and welcoming. The home is always very clean (no smells). Even though my friend suffers from dementia the staff are always very respectful to her, they seem to know every client by their Christian name. The staff are so patient even in some very awkward situations.
The staff are kind and friendly. The rooms and social areas are immaculate. The meals are good and varied.
Very good home. Clean, kind staff who are approachable. Taking good care of the residents.
