My mum diagnosed with dementia over 12 years, she lost a lot of abilities, she need much more care than previous, and she lost communication with people mostly, I am so sad with her condition. Luckly, she is moved to Blencathra House now, all of staffs is nice to her, they concern not just physical they will mention the mentality, even the family member as well, I am very much appreciated. Thank you very much for supporting my mum and her family member. xxx with love

My mum has been a resident in Blencathra House from Jan 2025. After a horrendous experience at a previous care home, this care home is like a breath of fresh air. Staff are excellent, caring and friendly, from the housekeeping, carers, activity coordinator, office. I would not be hesitant to recommend this care home to family and friends.

My husband has been living here for the last year and has settled in really well. All the staff from bottom to top make him feel really cared for and loved. The communication is fantastic within the staff and our family. Nothing happens without us knowing. I couldn't be happier with the support my family has recieved either. I have nothing negative to say about his care and support throughout the whole care home.

I find the staff & management very efficient and caring. Nothing is too much trouble and every need is taken care of. I cannot thank the staff enough for the way they are taking care of my wife.

Mum has been at Blencathra House just over a month and in that time we have seen a marked improvement in her general well being and happiness. I believe this can only be down to her new surroundings and the excellent care she is now receiving.

After residing in five different care homes prior to this one my 92 year old Dad moved here earlier this year. After these previous homes he was almost like a secret shopper as he was able to compare the range of areas of interest (food, activities, staff etc) with these previous homes. As a family we all agree this one was by far the best. Their staff are amazing! Every single one of them. They provided care and compassion irrespective of the grade/role they held. The place was kept so clean and fresh, we applaud the cleaners. The first cleaner we met, within half an hour of our first visit went out of her way to talk to Dad and assured him he would be happy and well cared for. She was right. The day and night staff also took time with each resident. Even though some residents may be a challenge due to their medical conditions, they always took it in their stride and in a very professional manner. Thank you, each and every single one of you!

My husband is well-cared for in a happy supportive way. His care needs are well met and changes are made when necessary in consultation with me and family. We are welcomed onto the unit whenever we visit.

My experience of care/nursing homes was when my mother was admitted some years ago to homes in north Leeds and I was reluctant to consider letting my husband go into one. However, his care requirements deemed it necessary and he was admitted to Blencathra in late September and I couldn’t be happier with his care or treatment, he was put at ease immediately and has settled in well. The home is clean and pleasant and the staff at every grade are caring and friendly.
