View Full Details of Damfield GardensI am extremely happy with Damfield care home. The staff treat their residents with dignity and compassion - the way they would treat one of their own relatives. I know that my loved one is safe and is looked after without compromise.
My Mum has been a resident at Damfield Gardens for almost 2 years. In that time I have observed how very much cared for she is, I know each and every staff member have a rapport with Mum and I know her demeanour with each staff member is one of happiness and love, she is genuinely loved and cared for and all of my family members comment on how all the staff are with mum and the other residents. Mum is always clean and dressed tidy and her room impecably clean, the whole building is spotless and you always see a cleaning member or maintenance member about making sure things are all dealt with the entertainment is second to none, always something fun and engaging and have so many events organised whether it be out on a day trip or having singers or entertainers in to get the residents participating in the fun. This place is an extension of my family and they have been amazing support for all of us, it's always a joy to enter the building and be welcomed by the most amazing staff.
Mum has been a resident at Damfield Gardens for a year now. We chose it because it is close to many of the places that have been special to her during her life as well as being a bright purpose built care home. The staff are very caring and I feel that mum is well looked after. The activities team really take care to think about what the residents will enjoy and get a lot out of. I was lucky enough to travel first class to Zanzibar yesterday with mum - every detail was thoughtful - down to the captains message and the air hostess's hats! It was nice to have fun with mum and other residents. I am grateful to have that memory.
Home has a nice friendly atmopshere and residents and visitors are treated with respect by staff.
My mother has been a resident of Damfield Gardens since September 2020 and we would recommend this care home to others. The rooms are a good size there is an excellent activities team and everyone from the reception to management work extremely hard to care for the residents. Everyone shows great compassion and affection for those in their care. Any concerns are swiftly dealt with and communication is good.
A mostly positive experience, even if expensive. The staff and carers are friendly and caring, and the admin staff are pleasant and efficient. Management is always approachable and available to listen to any concerns. Overall, a good performance, but room for improvement to reach excellence at such high prices.
Our mother is safe and well looked after at Damfield Gardens. We find the carers kind and very pleasant. The friendly reception staff are always welcoming and efficient with any queries we may have. Thank you to all the staff for looking after our mother so well.
My dad was a resident at Damfield from November 2023 to February 2025. Dad was welcomed and soon adapted to his new home. His room was personalised with his photos and radio. Dad was well fed, cooked breakfasts, good meals. The staff cared for and loved Dad as if he was their family member. I cannot thank or praise the hardworking, kind and genuinely caring staff enough. A true caring home from home.
I am always happy to notice and care, and the friendly approach of the carers. They are always on the lookout for residents who might just like a chat. They are always eager to help visitors. The atmosphere in the lounge is good. The decor for special occasions is really lovely - high-quality work.
Dad was admitted to Damfield Gardens in January and had settled in within a couple of weeks. Care is excellent, all staff approachable and endeavour to not only make sure residents are ok but also family members, offering advice and support. Having the same staff on Dad's floor is comforting for both residents and family. The room is lovely, and you can dress the room with personal belongings to bring a bit of their home to their new one. My Dad is in such better health and seems happier than he has done in months, relief for loved ones. All in all, a big shout-out to how this home is managed with compassion, care and exceptional staff.
My Mum has been a member of the Damfield Gardens family for almost 4 years now and, in that time, I have nothing but praise for the care she has received from the outstanding staff. This year has been particularly difficult as serious health issues have made it impossible for me to visit my mother but the staff at Damfield Gardens have been a lifeline. Not only have they kept me updated on how my Mum's doing but I have also received several calls checking up to see how I am! Knowing that my Mum is in such a loving environment where her best interests are always put first, has made it possible for me to concentrate on my own recovery. I am looking forward to going to visit her shortly for her 99th birthday!
At the recent Summer Fayre, I was disappointed to see my mother sitting in the lounge, which can be stuffy, (yes I know the temperature is always warm), but I was hoping to see her outside enjoying the fresh air in the garden. If I hadn't visited that day I honestly believe she would not have got out. She particularly enjoys live music entertainment. Whilst I understand that there are not enough carers/staff, to take residents on a one-to-one basis, I believe she could have been taken out if for a short time.
Mum is looked after very well by Damfield Gardens. She is very happy there. A shout out to the staff who are caring and put themselves out to do lots of activities. The Wild West fair particularly was well organised and a fantastic afternoon. They have extracurriculars going on all the time. Mum has lots of needs which are all met. The home managers keep in touch with me all the time and I would highly recommend this for your loved one. She says the desserts are lovely too all homemade. Can't fault it.
Mum became a resident at Damfield Gardens in the summer of 2023. After initially having a previous bad experience at a different nursing home, as a family we had our concerns over Mum's placement at Damfield Gardens. Mum had a couple of trigger points for her anxiety which were identified by the staff, and positive measures were put into place quickly and efficiently to ensure that she settled well. The staff have been brilliant with Mum, she is happy, well cared for, and in a safe environment. She has enjoyed lots of activities that regularly take place. Knowing that Mum is in such good hands has given us enormous reassurance and peace of mind.
My mum has been a resident at Damfield for approx 15 months. She has dementia and is very confused and upset, crying most days. This hasn't changed in the whole period she has been there. She has had great difficulty settling in and doesn't like to mix with other residents. There have been a number of occasions she has been admitted to hospital due to falls or other medical reasons. The staff are very caring and helpful, especially the entertainment ladies who my mum feels really happy with and they always try and include her in everything. My concern is the turnover of carers. The residents, especially on the top floor, I feel need more stability of happy, helpful, familiar faces. Every day my sister and I visit, there are different agency staff who are not familiar with the needs of my mum or the other residents and are relying on 1 permanent member of staff to tell them what is needed. In 2023 a lot of the permanent carers left within weeks of each other! I'm not sure what the problem is.
During the first lockdown I had to make the hardest decision, the time had come to find a dementia home for my mum, Damfield Gardens Care Home was recommended. Leaving her at the door was heartbreaking but the staff welcomed her with open arms. In the time Mum has been a resident she has been well looked after, cared for and well-fed. The staff are caring and professional even during the recent unprecedented times (Covid and staff shortages). The management team are approachable and nothing seems to be too much trouble. Her room is always clean and the laundry staff are to be applauded for the mammoth task they take on each day. The staff work hard to keep all the residents stimulated with various activities and themed days. The families are always kept up to date via emails and Zoom meetings. Caring is not just a job it's a vocation.
I am very pleased with the care my mother has received at this home. They have helped her to settle in and have looked after her extremely well. The staff are very friendly and kind and keep me well informed.
My mum has been at Damfield Gardens for 18 months. Although we wished she could stay at home, unfortunately, she needed 24-hour care and we looked to find the best place we could for her. At Damfield Gardens, she has been looked after really well. The staff and carers are very pleasant and friendly and happy to answer any questions we might have, they serve home cooked excellent food and encourage her to take part in activities. My mum always had her hair done once a week at the hairdressers and she has been able to carry on with this as they have a salon on site with a hairdresser coming in twice a week. She always liked to look nice and this has helped keep her morale up along with looking at and walking around the garden with staff and visitors.
My mum has been in Damfield Gardens for over 3 years. It was a hard decision to make when my mum needed a care home. But it was the best decision I made for my mum and the family. I cannot fault Damfield Gardens or the staff. After 3 years I feel they know me personally and most importantly they are 100% dedicated to my mum's care. 5 stars.
My mum moved into Damfield Gardens about three months ago, I couldn’t wish for a better place for my mum. The anxiety of putting someone you love into care is a step no one wants to face. My mum couldn’t walk after being in hospital after a fall so going back to her flat was not an option. Damfield Gardens took away that anxiety, my mum settled in very quickly. The staff are amazing and caring and have the residents care at the forefront of their minds. The food is excellent. My mum loves her food and looks forward to her meals. They have activities to stimulate the residents and a garden that is beautiful to go outside when the weather is good. Her room has a patio door where she can sit outside or open for fresh air. I could not wish for a better place. So much so that I have told my kids that’s where I want to go if and when I reach that stage!
