Mum lived at Five Rise from March 2022 until she died in February 2026. She has been living with my family & me, but real difficulties had developed with some delusional beliefs and non-co-operation with care. Damien and the team were reassuring about their ability to support her, and this was
evidenced by the healing up of the pressure sore she had developed. The Activities Organisers took time to understand mum, and this gradually helped her to feel she belonged there. They would make sure she got to see wildlife TV shows and the orchestral classical music concerts. She ate very well too, the food was good, and when she needed soft & puréed food it was well presented.
Mum died of a chest infection and was comfortable and well cared-for at the end.
The home can be a bit quiet at weekends, with everyone sat in the lounge. Mum relied on us to get out for fresh air. There is a nice garden / patio area that has improved recently. The staff and leadership are caring & skilled.

I do not say this lightly, but Five Rise and every one of its staff, from the Owner right through the nursing and other care staff, administrative staff in the office, catering staff, and activities organisers, are quite exceptional. I work in adult social care, supporting people in their own homes,
not care homes, but since I walked in the front door, late last year, I have had a great feeling about the genuine quality of care and compassion at Five Rise. The dementia-specific planning (colours, reminiscence pictures, physical things, as examples) is the best I have ever seen, and it is clearly purpose-built and designed. One brilliant thing is that those with dementia can come down from the first floor to the ground floor and join other residents.
Mum moved in at the start of February, from another traditional dementia care home, and only after medication advice from Damien which allowed this to happen. Dad (97) can now visit regularly.
In the very best place. Quite exceptional!

Dad stayed at Five Rise following a lengthy stay in hospital.
He was aware this would be his last few weeks with us.
During that time the team were amazing. A genuine care for their guests and their family was very evident.
The food, all home made is lovely, and the home is well kept, warm and
inviting. Bright, cheerful, full of wonderful local photo's and mementos.
It was such a relief to know he was so looked after.
Before he left, dad watched the six nations with his 5 grandchildren on the big TV in the lounge and loved every minute.
Other guests were clearly very settled and content. Lots of friends coming in and out to see them.
Highly recommend to anyone wanting a loved one in a safe harbour.

My lovely special Mum passed away peacefully earlier this month surrounded by the dedicated teams who have tirelessly cared for her since April 2024. I cannot, yet again, speak too highly of the care, empathy and genuine affection all the staff at Five Rise have shown my
Mum during her time with them. My family and I could not have wished for a better Nursing Home to care for a much loved Mum, Grandma and Greatgrandma
We are so glad we chose Five Rise Nursing Home
With much appreciation
Lindsey.

My mum has been a resident since January 2019. She had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and her GP recommended Five Rise because of their specialist dementia care experience. We have been thoroughly pleased with absolutely everything that Damien and his staff have done for mum over the years. At 94
years of age, she is now a very frail old lady and the dementia has taken away all recognition of us and taken her power of speech, but she is still as strong willed as she always was and hanging in there due to the care and attention she receives daily.
I would not hesitate in recommending Five Rise Nursing Home to anyone. Without the attention of the wonderful, friendly and efficient staff, we would have lost mum many years ago.

The staff at Five Rise were of the highest quality. They treated my father with genuine care and patience. They went out of their way to make him comfortable and give him a good quality of life in the 3 years he spent there. All the family are very grateful for their kindness and support.

My wife received excellent end-of-life care at Five Rise. Diagnosed with terminal cancer and discharged from hospital, she received the most loving, compassionate care from the entire team. Our whole family felt supported through this challenging time.
We personalised her room, as we were told we
could, covering the walls in photographs. These glimpses of life before being so poorly started conversations and evoked memories. Earning her the nickname "Rock Chick" from the nurses, bringing a smile to her face, and mine: they saw her as a friend.
As a Christian, she was not afraid of dying, but did not want to be in pain. True to their word, the team kept her pain free during her 7-week stay. Aged 76 she left this world peacefully for that of her Heavenly Father.

My Mum was a resident for the last five years at Five Rise, she was very happy and settled, it was truly her home. The staff are exceptional, caring and compassionate including Management, Nurses, Carers, Caterers, Cleaning and Ancillary Staff. My Mum passed recently and I can't thank them enough
for their genuine care and attention up until that moment. They were empathetic and looked after us too, during a difficult time.
Mum was always treated with dignity, love and respect; importantly her preferences were always taken into account. She always enjoyed all the activities designed to stimulate and engage everyone. Five Rise is a wonderfully inviting, clean home from the minute you enter. Mum always enjoyed her food, there was an excellent menu choice of appetising, freshly prepared and home cooked, nutritious meals. Fish & Chip Friday was her favourite. Mum was always safe and happy at Five Rise, I couldn't ask for anything more. Thank you for taking care of our Mum.
