View Full Details of Moorland Garden Nursing HomeMGH provides excellent care for my mother. The building is very modern with top of the range facilities. All of the staff are very kind respectful and professional. The managment team are very easy to talk to and always try and deal with any concerns ASAP. I highly recommend MGH to anyone looking for excellent care for their elderly relatives.
I approached Moorland Garden about five months ago as I realised I could not longer cope with looking after my 97 year old mother. We were both treated with the utmost respect and in no way was I made to feel guilty for no longer being able to cope. She found it difficult to begin with, but was given the support she needed in order to settled into a new routine. Not easy for either of us but we have just about got there. She is now joining in activities of which there are many and I really enjoying what is on offer. Also lovely is that she can have visitors at any time and they are always made welcome.
Mum has been a resident since March 2025. I have nothing but praise for the staff who have, and remain, responsible for Mum's care and wellbeing. Despite, a late diagnosis of dementia and a swift decline, all staff have provided excellent support, care, and encouragement. Mum has now settled in and enjoys some friendly banter with the staff and other residents (she has never lost her sense of humour). Thanks to everyone she is now settled and happy.
Mum has been here for 6 months. It has taken a while for her to settle in, but finally she is seeming much more settled thanks to the amazing care and attention from all the team at Moorland Garden. They have not only supported her, but us in the transition of Mum now needing so much care. Nothing is too much trouble and each day further improvements seem to be made. Thank you.
Ever since Mum moved in here in December 2024, we have been so impressed with the level of care. All staff are fantastic. We wholeheartedly recommend Moorland Garden.
This care home is lovely, not only is the setting beautiful, the care is outstanding. My son stayed there for his end of life care. He was 37 but this home is well beyond any expectations you may have. I don't have the words to commend the care staff enough. His care was kind, sensitive and very person centred, they knew him as an individual. Staff responded to his every need promptly, with kindness while maintaining his dignity. They need to be told how good they are and be proud of the highest quality care that I have ever seen (and I'm an ex nurse!) I want to thank them for everything they did to make my son's death so gentle, calm and comfortable, he had a good death because of the incomparable care delivered by all the staff. Thank you.
Very caring staff who work to high standards. Very modern rooms. Well managed. Open and airy public areas where residents are able to freely chat. The cooks and catering team know all the residents and are able to cater for different needs such as providing room service. Grounds are magnificent and residents are able to go out on the terrace. Very calm environment.
My father has been resident in 3 nursing homes in the Plymouth area and Moorland Garden is by far the best. The staff are all kind, caring and professional. There is always a warm and friendly greeting. The environment is always exceptionally clean, tidy and never smells like some other homes. Residents feel they are staying in a top quality hotel rather than a nursing home. I would have no hesitation recommending Moorland Garden
My wife and I were looking around Devon and Cornwall for a suitable nursing home for my wife's best friend, they have been friends for over 60 years, her friend is now newly 90 and at her time of life she needs that special care and some nursing to be able to enjoy and sustain everyday life. Moorland Garden Nursing Home certainly provides a fantastic environment plus first class nursing and care, the food I think could be improved.
My Mum went into the Moorland Garden Nursing Home for a month's respite care and the standard of care was outstanding from start to finish. All the staff were so friendly, welcoming, caring, accommodating and professional to Mum and all the family. We would not hesitate to recommend the Moorland Garden Nursing Home.
Dad has been in the care home for a couple of months. Everything has been fantastic from the clean well-maintained surroundings to the friendly helpful staff. I cannot recommend enough. He has been very happy and seems well-settled. Thank you to all concerned.
I cannot express enough how grateful we are for the wonderful care my father has received at Moorland Gardens nursing home. After his fall, he needed specialized care and attention, and this facility has gone above and beyond our expectations. The staff provide incredible one-on-one care, ensuring his comfort and well-being at all times. They treat him with dignity, respect, and compassion, making sure all of his needs are met. The facility itself is clean, welcoming, and well-organized. One aspect that stands out is the quality of the meals-they provide delicious, nutritious food, and my father always looks forward to mealtimes. We are so thankful for the level of professionalism and kindness we've experienced. If you're looking for a place that genuinely cares about its residents, I highly recommend Moorland Gardens.
The Moorland Garden Nursing Home is truly amazing. Lovely home. Lovely bedroom. Great ground floor, all here. Staff from owner to the cleaner 10/10. Always happy, nothing was too much trouble. Total value for money - professional nursing care first class. There is no I in team - brilliant team.
The care my mum received has been superb. She has been happy, made friends, loves the staff and danced. Moorland has been wonderful to visitors. I've been allowed to bring my dog in for visits. Several members of my family have visited and been made welcome and offered a cup of tea or coffee and juice for my grandchildren, which has been much appreciated.
I find the staff from manager to cleaner kind, respectful, caring, and take time to listen even though they are busy. They are kind and caring to my mum which is most important. They always try to fulfil her needs. They give a smile every time one enters and through the visit whether they are busy or not. I am so glad my mum is in this nursing home and not the other one which as a family we said no to.
My mum is a resident in this home and is treated well by all members of staff and when visiting, all staff greet me and make me feel welcome. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and it's a very comfortable and welcoming.
After spending years of my life living with complex medical conditions within nursing homes across the country at a young age, I have found what can only be described as unexpected heaven. Moorland Gardens offers a unique boutique-style nursing home with an emphasis on quality care, magnificent food and most importantly a sense of being part of a kind friendly community. Fully trained staff provide a feeling of warm safety, going out of their way to spend time with each resident. The premises exude the feeling of peaceful space consisting of wide corridors, a well-lit dining room, comfortable lounges and most importantly 5-star quality rooms with large Windows with stunning views of the moors consisting of large modern bathrooms where a wheelchair can easily turn around in. Staff, residents, and their families can be heard laughing and interacting so well. Would I recommend Moorland Gardens? Yes. Am I happy to stay here for the rest of my life? Again, the answer is a clear yes.
An enjoyable stay thanks mainly to the friendliness and kindness of the staff. We had a few misunderstandings because of my deafness and the fact that English is not the first language of most of the staff. Food quality was extremely variable from some meals that would not have been out of place in a good restaurant to others which were stodgy and unappetizing. Group activities are hardly underway yet but enthusiastic efforts are being made and may well prove successful as the number of residents increases.
My husband had a week of respite care at the Moorland Garden to enable me to have a break. He was extremely well cared for and treated with utmost respect at all times. He enjoyed the food and has volunteered to go back any time I need a break! I am so grateful to all who looked after him so that I could have time with my family knowing he was being so well cared for.
We have been treated with the utmost courtesy throughout, from the home visit to discuss my wife's requirements/suitability and her arrival in the home. The whole team greet us with smiles and wonderful care is constantly provided. The atmosphere in the home is passed down through from the top management. Our one minor concern is that several of the staff do not speak fluent English but this is easily overcome by their charm. I spent 47 years in retail management striving to give such service. A big thank you to all the team.
