A wonderful caring home for my Mother who has Alzheimer's. My Mother has lived here for 19 months, she has excellent care, the staff are friendly, engaging with all residents and there are plenty of activities for residents to join in with. If ever we have any concerns to raise these are brought up with the Senior Carer who is on duty or to the Care Home Manager. Everything is dealt with efficiently and competently. The home is extremely clean and well presented and the bedrooms are attractive and well equipped. Beautiful garden setting to enjoy some fresh air with plenty shady areas.
My mum has been at Oakmoor Lodge for over a year. I visit 2 / 3 times each week and have noticed that generally there is good engagement between many of the staff and my mum on a personal level which is good to see. My mum finds it hard to communicate and participate in activities (of which there are many), but she is still encouraged to attend which I believe helps her mood and enjoyment of her day. When she was unwell recently, 111 were called and we were kept informed of progress. More attention should be paid to helping mum keep her room and clothing tidy because she is not able to do so herself. We do receive helpful feedback from carers on her floor, but unless we seek it out, 6 monthly reviews with a manager are not proactively arranged with us.
My mother has been at Oakmoor Lodge since December 2023. We are very happy with the care she receives, the staff are warm and caring with all the residents. The turnover of staff is low which means our mother feels secure. If our mother picks up an infection, the staff are quick to identify that something isn't quite right and either the doctor or 111 are consulted. She has fallen a couple of times, generally when waking in the middle of the night and forgetting to call for assistance. Each time she has been checked out and well looked after. Recently a new system has been implemented that should reduce the number of falls among residents. The activities team always try to cater for all capacities throughout the week and residents are encouraged to come downstairs and join in. Overall Oakmoor is a warm and caring environment.
My mum had a momentary blackout. The staff took great care of her until the paramedics arrived and she was taken to hospital to be checked and thankfully was given the all clear and returned to Oakmoor later the same day. The staff at Oakmoor kept me fully informed and updated and settled my mum back into the care home on her return. The staff at Oakmoor always give great care and support whatever the situation - thank you all.
My husband went in for respite and the care he received was amazing, very impressed. He is due to go back end of April for respite due to my surgery.
My brother-in-law had an unwitnessed fall at Oakmoor Lodge. The staff did everything possible to have him seen by a doctor as soon as possible. On our return from hospital once again the staff did everything they could to make him comfortable. The family were consulted to see if any measures could be taken to further secure him in his room. The staff were so professional and a plan was agreed between the residents, the family and the carers. Thank you to all the staff at Oakmoor Lodge.
Oakmoor Lodge has a culture of people who care for the residents with respect and compassion. I feel that my family member is well looked after there and given a high level of care. The staff also make it fun for the patients, while showing them compassion and respect. I was very hesitant about putting my family member in a care home, but they have proven to be a very special place.
Only been part of the home for the last few weeks, find the staff and nurses really lovely and very helpful. Always willing to help and assist and have made mine and my family's choice for my cousin so much easier.
The carers work hard to look after the residents. They are caring and do a tough job. The care home is clean and the activities are excellent. They are very welcoming when I visit as well as knowing my name. I would happily recommend this care home to other families.
I found the vibe of the home full of colour and inviting, the cafe area is such a comfortable place to sit with family on visits. All the staff are very friendly, helpful and there is always more than a few to help, we definitely chose the right place for our Mother.
My mother has been at Oakmoor since summer 2024. She has received excellent care and enjoyed all the activities that have been arranged in the home. All the staff are permanent and relationships are built with them to ensure trust and empathy The home is immaculate and if any concerns, there is always someone to ask. Mum feels safe and secure there.
As I have a knowledge of care homes, I wish to state this one is excellent, 100% satisfaction, thank you. I cannot recommend Oakmoor Lodge enough, every time I visit my lady friend, she is always clean and well dressed, which is important to me. She is also more mobile than she was at her home sitting by herself, May I congratulate everyone connected with this home, long may it continue.
From the minute I spoke to Oakmoor Lodge on the phone to enquire about a place for my father, to when we walked in to be warmly greeted by one of the staff, to now, I cannot fault Oakmoor Lodge in the care my father receives there. Staff are wonderfully warm and treat my father with such care, professionalism and dignity, that we know we've definitely made the right choice for him.
My mother has been living at Oakmoor Lodge since January 2025 and I cannot speak too highly of the care she has received. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and the staff have gone out of their way to make her feel settled and valued. Everyone has been extremely kind and caring and one member of staff assured me that my mother had settled in well and was part of the family at Oakmoor. She has Dementia and mobility issues, and my sisters and I feel that she is very safe and has wonderful care and support. We are so grateful to all the staff for their exemplary care.
The staff emanate a feeling of cheerful calmness as soon as the front door opens with hello. They always make time for a chat with the residents families and friends no matter how busy they are. On a day when you find yourself thinking of the passed and how rotten dementia is to your loved one the staff have what seems a built in way of cheering you up. The building is modern and very clean. The cleanliness is showed in the residents with clean clothes and brushed hair. There is a varied menu with dietary requirements available. Coffee, tea and various fruit drinks are made through out the day along with biscuits, much to the residents delight! If there's a mishap or medical problem a staff member will notify the family. These phone calls are delivered in a calm manner and there is time given for you to ask questions. After a stay in hospital my husband is nearing closure. At Oakmoor Lodge I know he is contented, well cared for and not ignored.
My mum has been in Oakmoor Lodge for 10 months. The carers are so kind and thoughtful and have welcomed me, as well as my mum, into the Oakmoor Lodge family. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them - if I ask a question I am never told that it is not that person's job - instead they will always find the person I need and so things tend to get sorted out quickly. I like that the doctor visits weekly so my mum can be seen routinely even if the problem wouldn't be deemed appropriate for calling a doctor out specially. A chiropodist and hairdresser who also visit is good. Communication is excellent between the home and me so I always know how my mum is and I can leave there knowing she is safe and cared for. There is a good weekly timetable of activities led by two lovely, smiley co-ordinators! There is regular live entertainment - singers or musicians which my mum loves. My only concern is the food which seems to be of varying quality. Thank you to all for taking care of my mum.
I cannot recommend Oakmoor Lodge highly enough. The staff were absolutely amazing and treated my mother with respect and dignity, particularly in the final days of her life. Everyone we spoke to and saw was so kind and patient, and I shall be forever thankful for the care and attention shown to mum. Thank you.
My mother was in the home for 19 months, and the care and respect given to her throughout her stay until she passed away was exemplary. We could not have asked for anything better. The staff are unbelievable and had a great rapport with her, and in her last few weeks, I commend them for the care and friendships given to her. Thank you.
My father is now living in Oakmoor he has settled in very well. The care he has received has been wonderful. All of the staff have time to talk to me they go into Dad's room and chat with him as he is unable now to join in activities. I'm kept informed on all changes and when doctors have visited and have regular updates. He has dementia. I can now leave and know he is safe and cared for. I cannot thank the manager and the staff enough.
My mother-in-law has settled in very well over the last few months and is now able to mostly attend the daily activities, which she enjoys. The events coordinator is very friendly and helpful and always has a smile on her face when I see her. There are varied activities and entertainment from outside groups that my mother-in-law really enjoys, I can see it on her face when I have been present too. Well done to the event coordinator.
