Barchester Lynde House Care Home makes the most of pleasant grounds, located by the Thames and with wonderful views, and a versatile interior to provide top quality nursing and residential care, with professionals available round-the-clock and also skilled in care and support for physical disabilities and dementia.

A committed team work hard to ensure that all provision is tailored to the individual, while allowing them to make the most of a relaxed and homely atmosphere.

All staff are carefully chosen and well-qualified to achieve the best standards, with the company philosophy focusing on an attentive service that also supports an active lifestyle. Personal interests are encouraged and there is much to enjoy within the life of the home.

The aim is to meet all residents’ needs over the long-term, living up to a reputation for quality that Barchester homes have earned.

Nutrition is a key aspect of the care provided and an award winning Chef and his team provides first class food, freshly prepared at breakfast, lunchtime and in the evening, seven days of the week.

The room all have ensuite toilets, TVs and are decorated to the highest standard. Residents are encouraged to bring their treasured possessions with them when moving into their new home.

Over all for a 'new' to care home Respite resident, a comforting & good experience. Flowers in the room on entry a nice touch. Restaurant & staff there were very helpful & make it feel lik a normal lunch or supper in a restaurant. All the staff, who were very well led, were genuinely kind & caring.
We would reccomend Lynde House to friends or family.

The staff are excellent in Lynde House. I'm treated with dignity and care, everyone have been so kind and helpful and always have time for me when I am feeling down. Activities are usualy interesting. Food is beautifully served and mostly healthy.

I spent 4 weeks respite care in Lynde House and it was a very happy time. All staff including carers were wonderful. They were so kind and skilled and looked after me with great warmth. Also the menu was very varied and delicious - compliments to the chefs.

After my second stay here, having had a bad fall 3 weeks ago. I feel refreshed and ready to go home at the end of this week. The care staff and nurses have been so kind and helpful and always have time for me when I am feeling down. Activities are usually interesting and suitable. Food is beautifully
served and mostly healthy, though thought for diabetics could be better (e.g sweetened fruit juices, big helpings of carbohydrates) but staff can sometimes be persuaded to provide an alternative. I hope to able to live independently but this is the next best thing!

I spend 3 weeks for respite care in the Richmond House. My stay was extremely comfortable and welcoming and friendly. All members of staff , carers, admin, attendants - made me feel at ease and I recovered well. Thank you. A special mention to one cheerful person!

Our Dad was looked after by Lynde House for approx 15 months. Our experience as a family was overwhelmingly positive. The home itself is peaceful and calm, the extensive and well maintained garden was an excellent bonus. Dad moved to Lynde House after having short term nursing care following discharge
from hospital. On arrival at Lynde House Dad was still experiencing delirium/disorientation. We were all very impressed and relieved at how quickly he settled in. All of the team members embraced his sometimes quirky behaviour. The nursing care was exceptional and quick to react to any health changes. The carers were incredible, they cared from their hearts. As a family we were always made very welcome, we meaningfully became part of the Lynde House family. The passing of Dad was handled very well. As a family we were wrapped up in their care as well. Thank you to Lynde House for leaving our family with nothing but fond memories.

I had a severe attack of norovirus - the winter vomiting bug - that left me with no energy to manage my own life. Barchester Lynde House Care Home, where I stayed for two weeks, helped me regain a lot of my strength and confidence so that, now I am back home, I am able to look after myself. It is very
efficiently run, the staff are very professional as well as friendly, the range and variety of activities are challenging but fun to try and the meals were varied, well-presented and tasty. I would recommend it to anyone needing help with recovering from illness.

Barchester Lynde House Care Home annual garden party, held July 20th, was a resounding success. The sun shone brightly in a beautiful blue sky overhead. Everyone at Lynde House worked hard as a team to make this special occasion. Such an enjoyable occasion. Delicious and plentiful food and drink, together
with excellent entertainment, everyone had a lovely time. For me, the highlight of the day was seeing the residents surrounded by so many family and friends and Lynde House team. A big thank you everyone.

Alison

Alison McIntosh

Job Title: Senior General Manager Joined: 2011

As the Registered Manager, I am responsible for the overall running of Lynde House and assisted in this by a great team of staff.


Although from Scotland, I have lived in Richmond for over 30 years. My career has been in two stages; hospital management where I spent almost 26 years working in acute hospitals including Kingston and the West Middlesex Hospitals and Care Home Management at Lynde House where I have been since 2011.


I have had a long interest and involvement in organising and providing services to older people and I have been fortunate enough to put my experience to good use at Lynde House where we continue to strive for improvement in everything we offer and provide for our residents. We consistently achieve great feedback from residents and relatives on the care and services offered, a significant aspect to this being our low staff turnover and the lovely environment both inside the home itself and the grounds in which it is situated.

Smita Patelia

Job Title: Deputy manager Joined: 2014

Hello, my name is Smita and I am the Deputy Manager at Lynde House. I started my career at Lynde as a Registered Nurse back in 2014, I was promoted to Unit Manager and finally Deputy Manager. My role is to ensure that our residents receive the highest standard of care while taking a person-centred approach. I offer support and guidance to all Nurses and carers and work closely with external healthcare professionals. I am also the dementia Champion here at Lynde, I have a great passion for the welfare of the resident's mental health and have been the force behind the success of Namaste Therapy here at Lynde.”

Ridel

Ridel Francisco

Job Title: Unit Manager Joined: 2005

Ridel is a qualified nurse and has been a dedicated member of the Lynde House team since 2005. He was named as the Divisional Nurse of the Year in the 2018 Barchester Care Awards, National Nurse of the Year at the Great British Care Awards and recently the Dementia Nurse Award 2025.


Ridel is known to exercise his vocal cords with a bit of singing, much to the delight of the residents and staff.

Emma is a qualified Nurse/Unit manager here and has worked at Lynde House for 14 years. Emma was Barchester Nurse of the Year in 2016 and for good reason, as she is kind, compassionate and caring to say the least!

Ken Balawon

Ken is our night manager so he is not seen too often during the working day. He is also our Learning and Development lead for our home.

I have worked at Lynde House since 2010, when I started as a care assistant. In 2011, I was given the opportunity to lead the social activities programme in our home. Within my first year, I was honoured with being shortlisted at the National Barchester Awards in the category of Activities Coordinator of the Year and also won with my team of residents and local school pupils the "Barchester In Bloom best Flower display*.
Today I have a small team who work to ensure our social engagement programmes meet the desires and wishes of residents. I also coordinate the recruitment of volunteers to the home.


I successfully completed my Napa (National Association of Providers of Activities) qualification to level 3. Gitana and her team are excellent at planning and introducing new hobbies, activities and events for our residents to enjoy on a daily basis.

Karen Brooker began her journey with us in 2022 as a General Assistant. Through her dedication, strong work ethic, and commitment to high standards, she earned a promotion to Head of Housekeeping on 1st January 2024. She strives to maintain a clean, welcoming, and well-organised environment for both residents and staff. In addition to managing the housekeeping team, she actively supports the hospitality team, ensuring smooth coordination between departments and a high standard of service throughout the home.

George has worked at Lynde for over 20 years. For most of this time, he was our Head of Maintenance, but retired from this position in 2020. No sooner required but he was back helping us during the Pandemic with visiting supervision, etc.


Recently, George became one of the admin team working. In addition, He continues to assist in activities and his Thursday "Cuppa with George" remains a firm favourite with residents. George was recognised in the 2020 Great British Care Awards, reaching the finals of the South Division for support worker of the year.
