It is the aim of everyone at Garth House to provide residents with both a comfortable and enjoyable home in rather special surroundings within a friendly and companionable atmosphere. Garth House is registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection to provide Residential, Nursing and Dementia Care for adults over 65. General Description Garth House is a private nursing home which was officially opened in 1949 by the Queen's physician, Lord Harden. Reputed to have been built at the turn of the last century, it is a distinguished character house set in large landscaped gardens. Many of the rooms overlook the peaceful grounds which consist of sweeping lawns, mature specimen trees and numerous banks of flowering shrubs and flower beds. Delightfully situated on the picturesque area of Tower Hill, it is within walking distance of the local amenities in the town of Dorking. This beautifully appointed and well placed house has recently been both carefully restored and exquisitely furnished throughout providing a gracious and comfortable nursing home for elderly ladies and gentlemen. The chef and kitchen staff aim to take Residents' individual needs and tastes into consideration in the preparation of the excellent and varied cuisine produced within the superbly equipped kitchen. Coffee and afternoon tea is served in the lounges and conservatory and on sunny days on the garden terrace. Breakfast, luncheon and supper are served in the Dining room. All meals may be taken in the resident's room if they so wish. Garth House pride themselves on a large variation of activities and events that is strongly supported by the full time activities co-ordinator on site.
