Healthcare Homes has started to build a two-storey extension at Bilney Hall in Dereham, Norfolk. The scheme will provide new facilities for people who need specialist mental health care in addition to its existing residential offering.
Healthcare Homes Chief Executive, Richard Clough, said: “We pride ourselves on the level of care and services we offer. People with dementia need to be treated with real sensitivity and we have the specialist staff to deal with their individual needs at Bilney Hall.
“This extension in Dereham will allow us to offer a much-needed service to people throughout Norfolk. It is in keeping with the existing hall which dates back to the 19th century and is a beautiful period house providing 31 bedrooms for the elderly.”
The extension will include four assisted bath and shower rooms and four day rooms for leisure activities and dining. The building work is expected to be completed in January 2010.
Bilney Hall Home Manager, Liz Carlton, said: “We are all incredibly excited about increasing our capacity and are proud to be offering first class bedrooms and facilities for those with dementia. We are looking forward to welcoming new residents early next year.”
