GB to build £14.5m retirement village |
|
|
Date of article: 26-Jan-10 The retirement village will be built on the site of the former pottery works known as the Bilton Works Pottery. The village will include a variety of communal facilities including a gym, therapy suite, restaurant, bar, hairdressing salon and general store. Known as West End Village, this brownfield site development is expected to be the catalyst for the regeneration of Stoke. The buildings will feature environmentally friendly green roofs and solar panels to self-generate hot water for the residents and reduce the Village’s impact on the environment. GB Building has built up extensive experience in building retirement villages, having this week completed five villages for avantage and Cheshire County Council, including the largest timber framed building in Europe. Martin Smout, chairman and chief executive of GB Building Solutions, says, “West End Village will transform an area of Stoke which is currently very much in need of regeneration. GB has built up extensive experience in building high quality care homes and we will be able to bring this experience to make a really positive difference to the living conditions of more than 100 older people in Stoke.” The work started in September 2009 and is expected to take 79 weeks. click here for more details or to contact GB Building Solutions Ltd |
