Pupils from Batley Girls’ High School invited residents from Priestley Care Home in Birstall to their musical performance of Wuthering Heights, based on the novel written by Yorkshire author Emily Brontë.
The production, depicting the classic love story of Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, provided the members of the audience from Priestley with much to discuss, talking about memories of the book and subsequent cinema release.
One of the residents from Priestley thought the play was 'vibrant and colourful', and all were impressed with the costumes and singing.
Katie Matthewman, the care home’s Activity Coordinator and one of the show’s spectators, commented “The girls performed wonderfully. The residents really appreciated the fact they were able to remember the storyline and it was lovely to see the interaction between the two generations over a cup of tea after the play”.
Katie and the team at Priestley continue to work alongside staff from the school to support and build relationships between those living at the home and the young pupils, allowing them to learn from each other and share stories.
