The children’s ward at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch is set to benefit from today’s fun-filled National Care Home Open Day event at Bowood Court & Mews care home in Enfield.
Starting at 11am, the home in Hewell Road is having a garden party and a high tea with scrumptious homemade scones and cakes, with a visit from Redditch Mayor Councillor Joe Baker at 2pm and entertainment from singer Gaynor at 3pm.
The whole community is invited to the event at the home, with refreshments available through the day. Donations received will be split between the children’s ward, as chosen by the residents themselves, and the Residents Social Fund, which boosts the home’s lively social programme.
Home manager Pauline Vernon said: “National Care Home Open Day is a fantastic chance for the local community to meet some really unique, intelligent and charming characters and Bowood has no shortage of these.
“We are looking forward to a fun, entertaining day with the local community, whilst our care team and staff members will be on hand to provide an insight into what it’s like to live and work at the home. We will also be giving advice to those who are helping a loved one make the transition and talking through our pioneering dementia practices.”
