Overall mum is well cared for but sometimes her jug of squash in her room is not changed daily. On a number of occasions, we have thrown it away as it smelt and was stale.

I'm very happy with the care home. My daughter and I visit about 5 times a week. We are treated like family and made so welcome. My ex-husband is immobile and not vocal. The staff are great with him treating him with care and dignity.

Family and friends always comment on the very high standards The Lodge care home provides.
Any issues regarding residents always dealt with promptly. Continuity of care from the same care workers is also a bonus.

The mother settled in very quickly to The Lodge due to the kindness of the staff. I think she is well looked after there and nothing is too much trouble.

My uncle was recently admitted as a respite case, who is now permanent. I cannot praise the staff enough. My uncle needs help with dressing etc and I have always found the care staff to go above and beyond what is needed. The entertainment is also great and again, my uncle has loved taking part in
all the activities that they have. So happy that I don't have to worry anymore about his needs and I know that he is well looked after. Thank you so very much.

The Home is set in lovely well looked after grounds and the interior has recently started to be refurbished, but it really needs some more pictures etc to make the main lounge seem more homely, though I have noticed some start to appear.
On the whole, I am happy with my Mothers care and most of the
staff appear very caring. Up until recently, there were a lot of times where there was no staff member in the rooms (which I was not happy about as I did not feel this was safe). Recently I have noticed that there is generally someone in each lounge.
There is a good range of entertainment, and the Staff put a lot of effort in here, but my Mother does not respond to this, but a lot of the residents do enjoy this.
I think over the last year the Home has improved and I feel my Mother is safe here and as mentioned most of the Staff are really dedicated.

My mum went into care last August. It was a very traumatic and upsetting time for me. I cannot thank the manager and all the wonderful staff enough for all the care and support they have given both to myself but especially my mum. I have nothing but praise and admiration for them all. My mum is happy
here, and she is looked after very well.

Staff are not welcoming. When I took my friend to the home no one came to welcome him or explain to us the procedure e.g. what time meals are and who to speak to if there are any problems. My friend had other residents go into his room and take his things and the staff didn't seem bothered. They then
put him in a room away from everyone where he was isolated. Staff are extremely rude. I informed them that his GP may visit because my friend hadn't been eating and the staff member said he was like that before he went in and that they don't do miracles.

We are happy with the care my relative receives. Obviously, we would prefer her in her own home but as this is not possible sadly, The Lodge is the next best thing. The care staff are great and the activities team are also fantastic. The Lodge is a care home that does genuinely care, not just for residents
but for their families too.

Just wanted to personally thank you for taking care of my nan and most importantly for keeping her safe for her time that she spent with you. She was extremely special to our family and always will be and I know that my family always spoke highly of you all. When I visited my nan at your home from Scotland
she was comfortable there. Again, thank you so much.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.748)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.748) out of 10 for The Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.982 for The Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (56 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 57 Ratings = 4.982
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.766 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Lodge is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 94 registered maximum number of service users is 18.8. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 18.8 = 0.266
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
