Aarandale Lodge

Staff are friendly, interact with residents in a warm fashion & make them feel human & valued. A very clean & comfortable homely feel, not like a sterile institution. Every one is treated with dignity & respect. Lots of activities for mind & body. Choice of meals every day. I cannot find fault with anything & my mother is very happy to be there. It is such a relief that she is safe & so well looked after.

My brother has been in Aarandale Lodge for the last nine years. From day one the home provided the best care we could hope for. He settled quickly with their help and it became his home. They always kept me informed of any medical needs etc. for my brother. The manageress must be mentioned who did anything, she demanded of her staff and often joined them, helping, etc. Even to the passing of my brother, who was in palliative care, they allowed him to stay at the home (he called his home) rather than go to hospital. One of the staff was with him at the end. I cannot praise this team enough. He was taken out in a wheelchair, enjoyed activities and music provided in the home. Food with a menu every day with cook knowing his favourites. I absolutely recommend Aarandale Lodge to anyone.

Mum has settled in very well and has started to meet new friends and join in various activities.

Both my aunt and uncle were diagnosed with dementia within weeks of each other in 2024. It as a huge shock to the family when they were placed into the care of Aarandale Lodge. All our worries and concern for their welfare just disappeared over the weeks, we could see how well they were treated by all the staff, the care they have, and most recently (July 2025) our uncle had to have a major operation, but just 4 weeks later he is eating well, more repsonsive, and looks content. This is certainly down to the care he and our auntie both receive at Aarandale Lodge

It was a home from home, the staff were compassionate yet remained fun. This was essential for my mum. Even in the last days, the exceptional care and love showed. The kindness they gave mum was also extended to us. In my advancing years, I hope to find a place to rest just like this. P.S. The restaurant was fab.

The staff at Arandale Lodge are always very welcoming and continue to provide a high standard of care for mum. She appears well and content with her environment, which is consistent on every visit. We also appreciate that mum's individual needs are being met. Her room and personal belongings are spotless! We are so happy as a family that she is being so well looked after, which is very reassuring.

My Mother moved to Aarandale Lodge in December 2025 and lived there until July 2025. When she first moved in, Mum was fairly active and enjoyed the activities and facilities on offer. Unfortunately her health deteriorated fairly quickly and she became bed bound. I can only praise the Manager, and her lovely team for looking after Mum on every step of her difficult journey and for enabling her family to be as involved as we were.

The care given to our mum for the 20 months she spent at Aarandale Lodge was first class. The high standard of cleanliness and support given by the staff was excellent. The last few days of my mum's life their care and concern for her was exemplary. Thank you the manager and all at Aarandale Lodge.

I visit every week to see my brother. The staff are always working hard and very friendly. I know my brother is happy and is very well cared for. He has a television in his room and can watch the sports that he loves. Excellent.

Aarandale Lodge is very well managed by the manager. She responds promptly to email communciation and deals quickly with issues and queries. Her team are polite and responsible. They always treat residents with dignity, care and respect. My mother always looks clean and well cared for. The staff put energy and effort into activities to keep residents entertained and post these onto a private group on social media. I would recommend the care home to anyone. It is great value for money.

Always a warm reception when I arrive to see Mum. Mum is treated very well. She is bedridden so doesn't get to the activities but if the activities can get to Mum...they do!

I cannot praise them enough for the consideration they have shown towards my mother and myself especially during the pandemic. I would like to place on record my thanks to everyone at Aarondale Lodge.

I would like to let everyone know that my grandma lived there for a few years and she was loved and looked after very well, every time I went to see her I was welcomed by staff and manager so nicely and they were so polite and caring. My grandma did activities there and she was loved and looked after. My grandma is no longer here with us but my family would like to say thank you to all the staff and especially to the manager for the time grandma lived there.

I would like to thank the carers and staff for looking after my mother while she was staying here. My mother had Parkinson's and lost the use of her legs. She could not do anything for herself in the end so needed extra care etc. The staff were always welcoming when we visited mum and friendly and we were glad that she was in a safe environment. Her room was always kept so lovely and clean. The staff here are very dedicated and can not do enough for their residents. There is a lovely garden there and mum loved to sit out there on a sunny day. Once again thank you very much for looking after my mum.

My grandma was treated with such great care from all staff, I couldn't thank them enough because they did everything they possibly could to make her feel safe and secure going through her stages of dementia. Every room was clean and up to the correct standard if anyone needed a hoist up and out of bed. Grandma was never unhappy whenever my grandad when to visit her or my mum she was always happy and pleasant. I would recommend this care home to anyone in a heartbeat because the carers really do take care and pride in their work.

I cannot express the immense relief I have that my mother is no longer a resident. The environment in there is depressive, toxic and at times passively aggressive towards both residents and visitors. This is generated from the management there. The quick turnover of staff, use of agency staff constantly and staff shortages all impact on the residents and their well-being. If the staff are not looked after then the residents won't be either. The lack of choice of food, zero activities, or resident stimulation, along with the lack of consideration for the residents' choices or dignity leaves a lot to be desired. When issues are raised they are not addressed. This review is just a small nod to my absolute dissatisfaction at the 'service' my mother received here in the hope that the local authority and regulators look deeper than the superficial aspects here and this is resolved for the other poor residents still there. Certainly not a home that 'cares'!
