My husband has been happy in Alandale since he was admitted permanently in 2023. He has got to know the staff well and enjoys having a chat with them. When l take him out for a drive he's invariably ready and waiting by the front door and looking smart., thanks to the staff, and they always offer to
help him into the car.
He also mentions frequently how nice the meals are . The staff give him help as needed.
As his wife - l feel reassured when l leave that his needs are being met and he is warm , comfortable and with company if he so wishes.

My mums been at Alandale now for nearly 2 years.. She's been well looked after, and is very happy with both staff and their care.. And I cannot fault at all.. Which in return makes our life's so much more stress free, knowing mum has lots of good people looking out for her every day.. Any issues I'm

My mother has been in Alandale for 16 months and in that time the care she has received has been excellent, her medical needs are taken care of , all the staff are extremely supportive and caring giving her time to do tasks as her mobility is poor . She is always clean and tidy with the opportunity
to have her hair done by the visiting hairdresser . The home itself is clean and tidy , the food always looks good and nutritious with choices. We are pleased that our mother is in good hands in a caring environment by lovely staff . Thank you all at Alandale Residential Home .

Lovely staff always welcoming and caring for everyone! The food always looks good and everyone is treated with dignity and care. The only problem is car parking as I can no longer walk very far. It's nice that they have games and things to occupy them.

My mother has been a resident of Alandale for 21 months. Like most older people she really didn’t want to move into a residential home, but following a fall and her living 150iles away from us, she had no choice. On the day she moved in she was nervous but after an hour in situ, she said these are my
kind of people. That was back in March 2020 just at the start of lockdown. Like all families with loved ones in residential homes, we went quite a while without a face-to-face visit. However, the Alandale staff kept us up to date with news and photos of anything going on in the home. The Alandale staff always ring us if they call the doctor for my mother and always let us know how she is if she has been unwell. We had initially planned to move my mother into a managed flat development but we now know she is in the best place and even she admits that. We find all the staff friendly and attentive and always available for a quick chat if we want to discuss something.
A great find!

Alandale have been very good at keeping me informed of any medical issues or requirements for my mother. She is very happy there and enjoys the activities which are plentiful. Mum now eats all her food up as it’s so good and she enjoys eating again. I recommend Alandale for anyone who is at that stage
of their life. Such a friendly relaxed atmosphere. My mum seems ten years younger since she has been there.

My dad has been a resident at Alandale since January 2020, initially in on a respite placement and staying long term. I cannot recommend Alandale enough. The staff are amazing and the care offered in the home is second to none. The protocols that have been in place during Covid have been robust and
visiting has been made possible with the purpose-built visiting room. I quite simply cannot think of anywhere better for my dad to stay.

My Father has been a resident for a number of years. The dedication of the staff through this Covid era has been nothing short of heroic. I have total confidence in the staff following all of the guidelines issued by the authorities. I do not believe that my Father could have received better care anywhere
in the area. If you find yourself in a situation where your loved ones have to go into care, whether short-term or longer, then I cannot recommend Alandale highly enough. Keep up the good work.

I have just returned home from two weeks respite care at Alandale and I can recommend it to anyone. It was like being in a big happy family home where I was a member, and the staff were so kind and caring, nothing was too much trouble. The home is warm and inviting, the food is wonderful and the owner
and his staff are always on hand if you need them. Thank you so much to you all, and if I need care again, I will definitely come to you. Bless you all.

My mother has been at Alandale for two weeks respite care and I couldn't be happier. The staff there are amazingly friendly and absolutely nothing is too much trouble. They are carers in every sense of the word. Everybody from the caretakers to the owner have made my mum feel welcome. The food and facilities
etc are also first class. What an amazing bunch of people they all are and I would highly recommend Alandale as the best residential home I have been to.

A lovely feel to the home when you enter. Always warmly welcomed by the staff. The living area has just been re-designed and it is beautifully decorated with all new furniture and facilities. Residents rooms feel airy and comfortable. Food is really good and plenty of activities going on. Good
size as it feels homely rather than institutional. Always get offered a cuppa when visiting! Very caring staff who were one to one, day and night with all clients in the palliative stage of their lives.

My brother was in Alandale, with dementia for two years, and received wonderful care until his death at the beginning of August this year.
His needs increased over the years, and at the end he needed to be moved, fed and cared for in all departments of personal hygiene. These were carried out by the
staff with the utmost care and compassion.
The home itself was very clean and bright with regular activities for the clients who wished to partake.
There were always members of staff around to meet the needs of the clients.
I would recommend anyone considering to live or placing a loved one into a home, to visit Alandale.

My mother has been a resident for approximately two and a half years and is very happy at Alandale. She has received excellent care during this time. Staff are well trained, helpful and caring and have a positive and friendly relationship with my mother. Staff are always willing to help with special
requests which are never too much trouble. My mother is very happy at Alandale and regards it as her new home. It is reassuring to know that my mother is happy, well cared for, and safe.

Very nice clean home. Staff can’t do enough to help you in any way they can. All food is freshly cooked on site with a wonderful choice. Most of the rooms have en-suite. Any problems are sorted out in a professional manner. They have day to day activities which anyone can join in.

I’ve been visiting Alandale for a few years now, it’s always clean and if you visit in the morning, the lovely home cooked food smells delicious! Staff are friendly and always on hand to see to resident’s needs. The recently refurbished lounge areas look amazing, very spacious yet homely too. I would
highly recommend Alandale to anyone looking for residential care.

My husband has been attending Alandale 2 or 3 days per week and three separate week stays in while I have a short break. They look after him well. He likes it and I know he is safe there. The staff are wonderful. My husband has Parkinson's disease and can't write or speak well but has assisted me writing
this.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.164)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.164) out of 10 for Alandale Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.950 for Alandale Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (58 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.95
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.214 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alandale Residential Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 7 = 0.714
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
